Vampires can't use the face-changer?

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 7:57 am

I heard on another thread that vampires are unable to use the face sculptor in riften to change their appearance. Now, I'm pretty sure that isn't true. Sure, the eyes may be unchangeable, but it wouldn't make sense for them not to let vampires, half of the dawnguard dlc population, change their features for no real reason. Can anyone confirm or deny this for me?

You can't. One of the downsides to being a vampire. If you want to change your face you need to do it before you become a vampire.

You can't well at least you couldn't in the beta and that was a huge complaint a lot of people had in the beta forums. I was more annoyed that Argonians dont get glowing eyes and weird fangs.

...........Why? What sense does that make?
Edit: and I wish someone had warned me before I became a vampire and finished several quests.

I don't think it's that big of deal. One person in particular had a major problem with it on the beta forums though.

I don't think you should be able to have a sixy vampire. You're undead.

Okay, now everything that I've read about being a vampire really makes me not want to do it....I'm an argonian, so losing the glowing eyes and fangs pisses me off, not being able to use crossbows is just stupid....the powers seem cool but I probably won't use them that much anyways.....The only reason I think i'd ever wan't to be a vampire is just so that i can transform and go to town on everyone in one of the cities just because I'm bored, but i honestly don't see myself using it in combat....

Well this is a video game so nothing is really that big of a deal, but within the scope of this game it is a big deal for me. They just cut off a feature of this game to half the players with no warning or reason. It's an odd design desicion to say the least.

I TOLD you they were getting rid of the fangs! I think I'm going to try to make that a mod project now.

Tell that to Serana. And what if you want to be ugly? Or just change your war paint or make yourself paler?

What would be the downside to vampires if you could still change your appearance? And don't say the sun because that's no longer a problem.

Ok if they wanted downsides they could've at least been creative, and not arbitrarily remove something that has no basis in the story or lore and is just a game mechanic. Why not make the sun actually hurt us? Or anything else that could actually be incorporated into the story? This is just random nonsense. There's no reason why I should be unable to change my face.

Makes sense to me. The chick doesn't want to carve up some undead person.

That magic doesn't work on the undead.

Maybe its because vampires are covered in dead flesh. It actually makes sense if you think about it.

The magic only works on living flesh.

Why? She's some shifty plastic surgeon in Riften, and does thay excuse really warrant taking away a feature without warning? I've been wanting to change something about my character since day one, and now that I had the option I unknowingly took it away by starting the dlc as a vampire? I'm not trying to be rude, but I can't get behind you on this one. This was a poor design choice.

But it was bethesda's choice to write that in. Why do that? Why not give the other half of the population the right to change their own face?

There is a way to cure yourself of vampirism and then get it back. It would be easy to change your face without any consequences.

Wouldn't your face heal back into it's original form? Seems like a bit of a waste of effort, getting plastic surgery and it undoing itself?

That's an exception. Beth probably wanted to make her likable. You can sympathize with a pretty vampire more than one than looks like a rotting corpse, no?

O.o then what's the point of having it removed from vampires in the first place? Honestly that makes me slightly less mad, but
1. I'm not sure how I feel about being able to constantly cure yourself and re-contract vampirism like it's nothing.

And

2. How is this a downside for vampires if you can still work around it and get it?

Regardless thanks for telling me that. How exactly do I cure myself and get it back? I'd like to fix this as soon as possible.

But that means that not all vampires have to be ugly. Harkon isn't bad looking either.

According to theeclipse It's magic. By its nature it's not bound by laws of science. So it could be made a permanent change

I find this to be really annoying. I just want to change my hair and maybe add some facepaint now that it it's no longer permanet, we should have atleast been able to do that.
But if you can cure yourself and become a VL again than that's fine with me.
