Wait so...... is Skyrim released?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 1:37 am

exaclty.
I don't like the 'have patience' remarks.
I dont think you fully understand what happened. If the game would be delayed another 3 months, I wouldn't complain and just wait, plenty of ohter good games out now.
It's a whole other thing when you actually paid good money for a game from a respected game store, you have the physical copy in your hands and you have just been told you can't install it yet.
that has to violate some consumer rights no ?

I picked it up with flowers and jellybeans in my heart...
I rushed to the store, caressing the disc as I skipped back to my house...
I jammed it into my computer, like it was the first girl I ever loved...

And then Steam broke my heart, by saying I cannae install it now.

I have the entire day off tomorrow, and I now have to spend it looking at Skyrim, sitting there, waiting to be installed, knowing that on friday....I have to work...

Excuse me??

You should take this up with the retailer, it's their fault you are unhappy. They have actually commited two wrongs here, one is selling the game before they were supposed to, which violates an agreement they have with Bethesda, and two was selling the game to you, with the expectations you could play it, which they should have known wasn't true prior to street date.

indeed I shall, this is outrageous

I hear you, but it is NOT surprising. Check how much bigger Console market is compared to PC (nad rising). Similar feeling must have had the PnP oldies, thinking "we made rpg's a success", etc... and they get what nowadays in PnP?

Lemmings spring to mind eh?

Its the stores fault for selling it early they were told not to sell it until the 11th if you have a problem take it up with the store, the developers are not at all at fault here and there is nothing you can do to change the fact that you can't play until the 11th,most you could do is get your money back.

on a positive sidenote though:

kudos to bethesda for the awesome map, and the detailed ( and coloured woohoo) manual.
I have a lot of respect for companies that put some effort into those things, and a manual that consists of more thn 4 pages is quite a rare sight these days.

I am starting to wonder the release date being the 11th a holiday in a lot of countries and store being closed all day the stores decided in Europe to sell early. Maybe making the 11th day of November was a mistake by Bethesda and never thought about that holiday.

I'm from the Netherlands too but I haven't gotten it yet. I ordered online (bol.com) but I haven't gotten a shipped e-mail yet either, I hope to get it tonight. Not that it matters if I get it early cuz I'm on PC, I am just so scared I will not get it before the weekend for some reason :nope:
Also, I don't think that ALL game stores in the Netherlands are selling it. Free Record Shop seems to be selling, but I got a folder from Bart Smit today (toy store, also sells games and DVD's) and they still list 11-11-11 as the day it comes available. The site says the same. At least they're not breaking the rules, good for them.
Edit: the Free Record Shop site still lists 11.11.11 as well. Hmm...

...

I want my copy.

I think thats only a holiday in Canada. It technically is a holiday in US too (vet's day) but nothing closes for that

it's 20 pages, 19 of which have actual game information, that's pretty awesome actually.

and no, you can't dualwield shield, it's in the manual lol.
or is quoting things out of the official retail version of the game before it can be played a violation of some sorts ?
I hope not lol

Trust me bro, I have it for the PC, yet I can't play it.
It's like having the Apple of Eden in your hand, yet are unable to bite in it's delicious sinful ways....

Guess I'll go play some BF3 to pass time, and create a way to get the flu without it sounding fake.

It is an holiday in some provinces in Canada but me in Ontario it is not generally and my store will open at noon not stay close all day. I do Have the Midnight release so wont need to wait for noon. I might be wrong but I think in Europe it's an holiday all day and everything is closed.

But at least you have it in your hand. I'm still spamming F5 on my inbox for my shipped mail. :P

And I'm wasting my time away with Dragon Age 2 to make time go faster, I'm desperate :P

Also, people in the Netherlands that have pre-ordered it for the PS3/Xbox 360 are already playing it, I am currently recieving texts of how awesome the game is.
Guess it's time to start breaking some consoles.

well, the shields won't have an attack animation and offer decent defense, so dualwielding a shield seems a bit OP imho.
there seems to be a mechanic that if you attack at the same time you block, you can stagger an opponent (costs stamina), possibly leaving them open for a counterattack.
also, since it says you can block with a weapon, I dont see why a dualwielder wouldn't be able to block (it says nothing about that in the manual).
But maybe I'll start a different topic on manual content, this is a bit OT

As far as I can tell, going gold means it's been shipped. Sears got their copies Monday.

One of the bigger Dutch gaming shops: http://www.gamemania.nl/Default.aspx?tabid=85&skey=skyrim&opt=all
The site is in Dutch, but look at the release date.
