Want Patch 1.1 back? This might work.

Kind of pisses me off to see crap like this comment. This game is huge and can only be tested so much. You want them to find all the bugs then wait about 10yrs and then MAYBE it will be perfect.

Good, you should be pissed (and I am entitled to my opinion as an advlt). Oblivion was released in 2006. Skyrim has been in development for five years. Yes, it is huge, but I would have waited a few more months. Don't tell me a game is done when it is not. I grew up in a time when games were still very complex, yet the developers were under far less pressure to make these specific deadlines and in turn produced higher quality, more finished products. But that was not my point of my comment - at all.

The main point of my comment was to state that Bethesda - not us - should have made available the instructions to roll back to v1.1 when they saw how bad they screwed up with the current v1.2 patch.

We're not talking about a texture or two not showing up correctly, we're talking about a major component of the game just straight-up 100% not working. And judging by the number of people reporting it, it seems pretty clear that they should and could have caught this by just having a couple dozen people play the thing for a few hours. I'll go with this apologist attitude with things like McDonald's forgetting my fries every now and then, not so much when I'm dropping the better part of a hundred dollars on a product.

Hoping someone can help. I'm stuck on step 1 unfortunately. Got my USB stick plugged into my xbox, go to system/memory but don't see it listed. I'm guessing that I have to own some sort of Microsoft-made stick, but as nobody else on here seems to have the same problem, and I doubt everyone in the world owns such a thing, I'm wondering if I'm doing something particularly stupid. Any ideas?

What brand of USB stick do you have. How old is your xbox because the USB slot could be going out.

You wanna know the best way to test a game for bugs and glitches? Have millions of people play it. How do you do that? Release the game when all of your company's testers have tested what they can. Once the game is released, people will start flaming the forums with problems, then you patch them, until as many problems as possible are fixed. We are now in the flaming stage, and, according to Bethesda, who I firmly have faith in, they will fix them as time goes on. BTW Skyrim is awesome.

Thats the point, its asking him to update from the live network which makes the 360 ignore the flashdrive for the update.

Start the game OFFLINE, with the flashdrive containing the 1.1 patch on it connected to the 360. The game will auto-load the 1.1 patch from the flashdrive.

Actually, this is not necessary. I go online, and then hit cancel when it wants to update, and THEN, it boots me offline and proceeds to load the 1.1 patch from USB. I've been doing this from the very beginning and it's worked every time.

Hey guys. So i didnt wanna have to create an account just to ask my question. So I read all the pages and nobody seems to answer this question.... I did all the steps..I downloaded the 20th update and moved it to my xbox hard drive. When i start the game the update pops up and I cancel it. It says v1.00.4.0 at the title screen but when I try to continue my game it says my saves are from an older version and that I need to download the update in order to continue..... what the heck do i do?!! My skyrim is absolutely unplayable for me on the 1.2 version. : ( .....I want my skyrim back.....I realize most of you who are reverting back to the 1.1 patch have 1.1 saves still probably but I played for a good while and was fine at the start but now for some reason my game is going bazonkers!! Is it not possible for us who have 1.2 saves to go back to 1.1?

Nope if you saved your game on the 1.2 patch then you need the 1.2 patch to load your saved games.

No you dont, this is incorrect. Only 1.0 warns about higher patch level save files. Saves made in 1.2 work in 1.1.

I had the same problem...
You just need to "install" all updates except the last one (34F5B6C3, 60E970A7, 2517ABF8, 49A1477A) and it should be fine.
The version number will not display on screen if you're on the way of succeed :celebration:
Last think to do to be sure, cast a fire spell on a fire atronach and prey ...

Help please.

I got as far as downloading the update however my computer is now being an ass and telling me:

Windows cannot open this file, to open this file windows needs to know what program created it. Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select it from a list of programs on the computer.

This topic needs to be stickeyed until patch 1.3 comes out, I'm again having to use this thread after formatting my USB drive which removed my installation of Skyrim and therefore running 1.0

Props to the OP

Laying in bed last night I became worried....

Since I have done this trick, and use a flash drive to load 1.1 while not on Xbox Live... when the 1.3 patch comes out later this week what happens with my save file to my character? Will for any reason it not work? I'm thinking all I will have to do is once the new patch is out just disconnect the flash drive, connect to Xbox Live, download the new patch, and load my save. Hopefully?

So you don't download it? Because it is still saying that windows can't download it because it can't find the program that made it.

I formatted mu USB on the Xbox, used the xtaf, went to "Open first USB drive" went to cache, then drug the 34F5B6C3 update into it. Its showing in the cache on the xtaf, but not on my USB. and when I run the game, it still starts the unpatched version.

What am I doing wrong here?
