Want Patch 1.1 back? This might work.

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 10:53 am

Well I know how to apply older updates to games on the xbox.
It's a bit involved but there's a nice tutorial from yahoo answers here:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20111119103542AAwLMWn

Basically you format a thumb drive for the xbox, clear your cache, download the 1.1 update and transfer it to your thumb drive on your PC.
Then you pop in the thumb drive and run the game.
In order to read an xbox formatted thumb drive on your PC you need a program called horizon. (www.xboxmb.com/horizon/)
There may be others but that is the one I use.

You can find the older skyrim updates here:
http://www.xbuc.net/?searchString=skyrim

This is the update you want I believe: 49A1477A
You can see it's from the 20th, while the first patch listed is from today.

Now I'm at work and haven't tested this so I don't know if it will work, but in theory it seems like it should.

Instructions from the site:

- Update your XBOX 360 console to the latest dashboard version
- Get yourself an usb stick with at least 1GB capacity
- Format it as a XBOX 360 Memory Unit on your XBOX 360 console via 'Dashboard/System/Storage'
- Connect your usb stick to your PC
- On your pc, http://digiex.net/downloads/download-center-2-0/xbox-360-content/apps/4046-xbox-360-usb-storage-explorer-xplorer-xtaf-v44-new.html XTAF (Latest Beta). Big thanks go out to Slashr for this great app.
- Run XTAF and click on 'File/Open Drive'. Now move to 'Cache Partition/Cache' and drag your update files into this folder. This will take some seconds.
- Connect your usb stick with the XBOX 360 console and start your game

UPDATE: According to forum user http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/user/756333-mavmav/ it looks like you may want to download and copy all but the most recent update to get this to work properly.

UPDATE2: Fixed link to XTAF

Thanks for posting the link here. Such a shame that once again the community has to do what a developer can clearly not.

Are these programs trusted? I'll try this out if so, I already have a flash formatted to my Box.

There are two sets of instructions in this thread. I tried both. I downloaded Horizon and the 49A1477A update and tried that but I was still on 1.0.4. Horizon doesn't show you the cache partition, but when you pick to install the update package it looks like it does it... but I would have preferred to see it sitting on the drive myself.

I then tried the second set of instructions with XTAF. That does show you the cache directory contents and I put the 49A1477A update in there. Again I was still on 1.0.4 when I booted the game then.

Then I figured maybe it was the wrong update so I just downloaded every single update listed at http://www.xbuc.net/?searchString=skyrim EXCEPT for the most recent one. Then I just put all the updates in the cache dir using XTAF. Then when I booted the game it's on 1.1.19.0

I figure the XBOX must identify and use the most recent update so putting them all on is fine... just make sure you don't download the latest one since that's 1.2. Probably the first technique would have worked if I'd just shoved all updates on at that point... but since the second technique worked for me I'll leave someone else to verify that.

The link didn't work for me either. I googled xtaf and downloaded it from...

http://digiex.net/downloads/download-center-2-0/xbox-360-content/apps/4046-xbox-360-usb-storage-explorer-xplorer-xtaf-v44-new.html

I'm also on a Mac but I used VMWare Fusion to use a Windows 7 VM to do it.

Yeah, finally I have rolled back to 1.1.190 :celebration:
My actions:
1. I already have USB stick formatted on X360 (there are my savegames backups). That means that you must format it on X360 Settings (Memory/the drive/Y/format).
2. Plug that USB stick onto PC.
3. Download program http://digiex.net/attachments/downloads/download-center-2-0/xbox-360-content/apps/6363d1298280701-xbox-360-usb-storage-explorer-xplorer-xtaf-v44-new-usbxtafgui_v44.zip on your PC.
4. Then download right title update from http://www.xbuc.net/?details=Skyrim. (For me: I have the game from The Hut. Britis/PAL; I have tried PAL only TUs from this site - they doesn't work. The first universal worked for me. MediaID: 34F5B6C3)
5. Then open already downloaded Xtaf program. Select your USB stick drive (File/Open ) (For me: File/Open First USB Drive). Then go to and drag this TU file to right blank window. Securely take of USB stick :hubbahubba:
6. Insert into X360 USB. Remember to clear cache on your X360.
7. Just play 1.1.190 :foodndrink:

Worked for me too! Thanks everyone, this is a great example of a community pulling together and getting things done.

A few notes:

- Much like another guy, I had to download all files except for the latest one

- I also had to reboot my 360 (my USB stick is slow, it may not have picked it up / scanned the files)

- Clear your HDD cache of course, and select CANCEL when it wants to download the 1.2 update online. You will be on offline mode, but your 360 will read the USB stick you have plugged in, and grab the 1.1 patch from it!

Thanks again guys, this is awesome!

This procedure worked for me, as well. At least, the ver number is showing correct. Odd that it will load a 1.2 save, though.

I wish I could clearly test the resistance bug both on 1.2 and 1.1. I don't have a fancy conjurer character but the textures on 1.2 were WAY better, for me at least.

Any one have a quick, simple proof on whether resistances are broken or not?

[update]

OK I splurged and bought a fire atronach spell. :). Blowing flame at it with 1.1 (using the above procedure ) showed the resistance message.

Went back to 1.2 - tried exact same thing at same time. - No resistance and then he blew up all over dragonsreach.

Guess it's 1.1 with bad textures then.

Hey guys, registered to say a massive thanks!

I can confirm this does appear to run 1.1. After updating to 1.2 earlier (and dispite being a Nord) the Frost Dragon I had saved my game near killed me in one breath. Now it appears back to normal and I'm able to survive its breath for much longer. This was the only resistance testing I had done, but it seems to have worked for me!

Also, the texture bug reared it's ugly head on 1.2 for me, despite never experiencing it before either on or off-disc. So much for their 'fixes'. I have a lot of patience, but claiming a bug is fixed when it clearly isn't really isn't on. I hope Bethesda are able to find a proper fix soon, regardless of it all they've still made one of the best games in recent memory!

Thanks once again guys, I'm back to Skyrim 1.1. Spread the word like nobody's business!

Also, you can apparently switch back and forth between the two versions to test, as I did. Only caveat seems to be that you have to move the patch files into the cache of your USB again after clearing the xbox cache. (meaning repeating steps 5 and 6 antigin's post above)

Isnt working for me. What am i doing wrong?

I tried putting all 5 files on the USB via Xtaf and no luck. Tried the universal file as antigin said, again...no luck.

Are you supposed to see an install pop-up? Didn't get one, and also the version states: 1.004
