Meh. I'll wait for some gameplay and screenshots. http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/8512042/images/1268262345587.jpg
Am I the only one who actually played the MW Multiplayer mod? :P

I'd prefer TES to stay single player...

Sounds like a horrible waste of time for Bethesda.

Bethesda isn't making it.

I hope it differs from the other mmorpg, every slightly popular mmorpg works with classes, I hope we still got the freedom to create a custom class.
Furthermore I dearly hope the questing will not be different as that of skyrim. like accept 10 quests from a hub. And afterwards give them in. and move to the next.
The focus in my humble opinion should be around roleplay and exploration. not around questing.

Further I hope there won''t be ingame chat, It would open countless options for roleplaying and speech.

I like the idea, though I'm cautious about it. As long as singleplayer is left alone for BGS (which to my knowledge it is), then I don't really have much of a problem with this game. In fact, I'm sort of anxious to see a trailer or something.

I am afraid that the Elder Scrolls days of single player games are numbered, I hope this is not the case but I think it is the case base on what happened with games like like Knights of the Old republic. Hope people are prepared for never having another single player Elder scrolls game, why would Zenimax want bethesda to make a game that will compete for the Elder Scrolls fans money

I'd like to give a big [censored] YOU to the guys who came up with this idea.

Hopefully it fails like 90% of new mmos
I hope it's a success and beats WoW? :D

But seriously though. If it's a great game, with a great world to explore and great gameplay and character-development, what's there not to like? However, like in most MMO's, it's probably going to have bad graphics, clunky and boring combat and grinding-type character development...

Disappointed. TES is about being the solitary hero in a large immersive world. Not about being one of thousands of heroes running fetch quests and run/jumping across the world.

Walk into Whiterun in TES:V - see Adrianne working the forge, Isolde walking down the street towards you, and a guard cautiously watching your every move.

Walk into Whiterun in TES:Online - see a dozen players surrounding the smithy selling and repairing equipment, two dozen more running and jumping around on the street shouting "N 0 0 B!" "ROFL" "PWNAGE", and at least a dozen more players standing around on various rooftops, mounted on their horses.

Oh, right, and in my previous post I forgot to mention that problems of playing with other people. I dislke that in general, doubly so in things where there is a plot. Halo 3 is one thing because at least then it's friends. I know that everyone is always on about roleplay servers and whatnot, but even the fact of playing a game at all with other people (me being a person for whom the digesting of a story is a personal and somber process) makes me uncomfortable.

How long till all variations of "Rolf the Uber" and "Im Leet" are taken? My guess, two seconds after the servers go live.

Greatly overstated, in my experience. There's various choices you can make and things you can turn off to make an MMO very single-player like. Plus, the announcement mentions a focus on solo questing.

I'm not very interested in it, but an important thing to remember is that this is not being made by Bethesda Game Studios, the guys who work on the TES series. It's a different studio entirely, under the publishing arm of Bethesda Softworks, so this should have no impact whatsoever on the team working on Skyrim and future single player TES titles.

So there's no reason to complain about that supposed issue (it drawing away resources from the single player series), though I'm sure many will regardless.

I find that I am a little dismayed. I love the Elder Scrolls universe, especially its unique lore but I have never been able to get into MMOs, not to mention my PC would not be able to run it. So I am dismayed that I will probably never play it. I am looking foreward to seeing all the new lore introduced, though.

Um...

Fairly certain BioWare, even with the release of ToR, is still working on single player games.

Mass Effect 3 and the upcoming Dragon Age 3 ring a bell?

I will remain skeptical until we get some actual news and visuals. Till then I will not complain, nor will I support this game.

not to mention that the TES IP is extremely valuable right now with the success of Skyrim. There is no way BGS will stop making singleplayer TES games.

I really hope this is the case, but we know what happened to Wacraft. WoW was released 7 years ago, and the main series hasn't seen a sequel yet. Why make two similar products that will compete with player's money? Why pull players away from TES:Online with TES:VI? Hopefully, Zenimax won't be that brutal with their business plans.

I can already see many fans disappointed, but even though I like TES, multiplayer games are the thing for me as it is simply more fun to play with other
people than alone. I am surely going to play this if just it isn't monthly subscription based like WoW is. Those things are waste of money. And besides, it isn't the same
team that made Skyrim if I am correct so those angry vets shouldn't have any problems with this game because it won't slow down the slow process of creating the TES VI.
Simple. Don't buy if you don't like.

That's why this whole "single player TES will die!" angle is so...

Cautious... VERY cautious. However, I'll reserve judgement 'till I see it.

This is how I always thought a TES MMO would turn out- http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/8512042/images/1268262345587.jpg

You do realize Blizzard usually puts a 5+ year gap between sequels, right? And World of Warcraft and Warcraft don't play at all like each other. That's like saying they aren't making StarCraft III because they don't want to pull attention away from Diablo III.
