Well, it happened. How do you feel about Elder Scrolls onlin

That's why this whole "single player TES will die!" angle is so...
You'd almost think Bethesda was making this, too, based on the forums.

Does this mark the end of the single player experience? I hope not. I have absolutely no interest in thr TES MMO, however.

I'm relieved that it's not being developed by BGS, because what that means is that their main focus will remain on single player Elder Scrolls games (and Fallout of course). Essentially, this means that it's more or less just a side project that won't be taken as seriously as the next legitimate installment of the series.

I'm happy because it means more Elder Scrolls to play and also because it isn't Bethesda developing it it won't detract from the main series.

One question though.

Does anyone know how long it has been in production or are there any (reliable) source online that can be used to see when it was TES Online was trademarked?

I'm personally distraught over the idea on an MMO TES, I haven't felt like this since they announced the KOTOR games would be followed by an MMO, I only see this game as being mediocre of failing due to the high number of other MMO games out there, I could be wrong and will wait till more information is released before making my mind up completely.

I can only tolerate one idiot while i'm playing, and since i'm the one playing it... :whistling:

So this is not for me. But i do wonder how this one's success or failure affects Zenimax, and therefore BGS.

Worst case scenario? Utter failure that causes Zenimax to go bankrupt and EA buying BGS  :bolt:

and on topic, i want it for the exploration :) if they can pull off the quests and the world itself better than my expectations [they are pretty low] then i wont complain too much. i actually enjoy some mmos.

I am not pleased by this news. i don't imagine it will be terribly good, I don't like MMOs (especially how costly they are to keep playing) and I have fears about how it will affect the lore and world of future TES games.

Do you guys remember the time when we gatherd with our friends after shool on a couch to play games together?
The time where Super Street Fighter 2,Secret of Mana,Super Metroid & Chrono Trigger on SNS was king and games like World of Warcraft were still years away?
I love that time and i still do that kind of gaming seasons from time to time.Get a couple of friends and a few console game to have a blast.Only difference now is that we have a beer instead of hot chocolate.
I tried a few MMO's myself but i could never understand how people are willing to put so many hours into it and enjoy doing the same repetitive things over and over again. All they do is leveling and grinding for the last piece of their gold/orange super rare armor.I can think of better ways to waste my lifetime.MMO's in my opinion are just money making machines and the lack of depth and a interesting, entertaining story kept me away from playing them.I find it much more enjoyable to have your buddies right next to you.
And TES games beeing a singleplayer expirience..i dont see how a TES Online would work.I'am not very interested in any MMO.Maybe i will try guild wars 2 sooner or later since its free to play and has good gameplay...but TES Online?!

Interesting. That's the word that keeps popping in my head. I hope Zenimax will be able to bring something new to the MMO genre and I LOVE TES lore. My only concern is if it will be subscription based or just a box purchase like Guild Wars/2. If it's another subscription then I'll have zero interest in jumping in. Who knows? Hopefully we'll get some details in the trailer coming out tomorrow. But I doubt it. Just taking a wait and see approach.

There were rumors, accurate even down to the time setting and animal sigils, months ago. That plus domain name (see Exorince) means that it isn't exactly something they cooked up like a half hour ago.

Exactly. I'm sure BGS/Todd have been somewhat involved though.

yeah, its a fantasy game...thats what they have in common. There are many elements to the elder scrolls series that set it apart from all other fantasy, that and the series is actually older than warcraft.
and i hate stupid baseless comparisons. so i have a right to be somewhat insulted, agree?
the fallout mmo had been planned, but has had legal trouble. its in development hell.

Zenimax Online actually, Zenimax is the corporation that owns all these studios, and Softworks that publishes their games :whisper:

Only kidding with the last part of my comment ;). I'm well familiar with the elder scrolls, well only since oblivion. However, this is how it will be seen by the masses. Oh another fantasy mmo, i'll stick with warcraft. Whereas fallout, which you pointed out its development woes, that is something noone has really seen.
