What are your requirements for dating someone?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 4:22 pm

Well if they are nice, can be open minded about differences we have, not cheat, then yeah, I'd date them. A pulse is also a good thing, but not required.

It's already on the shore.
And that's as far as it gets. Let's get back on topic now.

I must have very high standards for dating, because despite having multiple couple-week relationships that end on both sides not caring enough to pursue a relationship, I haven't really dated anyone seriously. Not in high school, not in the first couple years of college.

When I do actually date someone, she'll have to care about how she looks but not be stuck up about it. Doesn't have to be 4.0 smart, but she needs to have a good head on her shoulders so she doesn't feel like an idiot if I talk about more interesting and engaging things, and if she's an idiot, it'd be weird. She doesn't need to be funny, but I have a different sort of humor and my friends and I love it, if she's offended by it, it'd never work. She'd definitely need to be goal-oriented and pursue a career, not just want to settle down and never work again.

Things like that. The type of woman that can co-exist in my world (I suppose I'd have to fit in hers as well, yes?) and be comfortable. I assume if I cared about her enough, I could make changes in my life to help that. I keep telling myself that I'm young and women around me are still immature, as I am, and I'm not ready for anything serious. Truth be told. I'm not looking at all. Hopefully after college I meet a girl like that.

Brunette or red-head. Smart. Funny. Witty. Charming. Masochist. Submissive tendencies. It keeps getting weirder from here.

Not really a question I can answer totally honestly, since I'm in a long term relationship. But I think one major reason it has worked is that we don't treat the relationship as adversarial. I don't think I'd enjoy being with someone who treated every difference of opinion as a fight that needs to be won.

And of course sixual chemistry is very important.

If I were back on the market, the only thing I'd change is to date a non-smoker. Everything else is silly to think that you'd only date this type of person or that type of person. There are preferences you may think you have, but if you meet someone you really click with, the other crap isn't going to matter.

Except smoking... I really, deeply wish my better half would quit that crap.

And I'm too lazy to go back and quote but: There are virgins, men and women, at every age. And women are all insane, there isn't a single one who isn't - some just hide it better then others.

She just has to be a humanoid interface created by the Data Overmind for the purpose of observation, a bibliophile, extremely intelligent, and love technology.

Being stupid and being uneducated are two entirely different things. Your example was someone uneducated.
i was making a joke

Oh lawdy lawdy. Masta dun haet us cuz we dunz kno whu RELLY dun maed da litebulb!

Seriously, just because someone doesn't know ONE fact you do know, you list them as an idiot? Why don't you try taking a stroll outside that ivory tower of yours bro.
again it was a joke, i dont want to date some women who ends every sentance with a question and gets her way because people feel sorry for her stupid
You have a very relaxed attitude for somebody who demands people to memorize useless trivia in order to not be deemed idiots.
people dont obviously get my humor

- They have to be a girl (preferred if red head)
- May sound shallow but have to be good looking. If you date someone there are romantic intentions somewhere down the line and you have to find them physically attractive
- Preferred if they like metal music. It would drive me insane if I had to listen to pop of hip hop all day
- They need to have at least half a brain to go with my half

I'm in a relationship, but in choosing a partner, trustworthiness is the most important factor by far. I'm a sub, and I need to trust someone completely in order to give myself to them. They also need to be kind-hearted, emotionally strong, and confident.

I detest people who are psychologically manipulative (my ex was), so that's a big no no. If I'm going to give them power over me, they need to use it honestly and with integrity.

Hypothetically, since I'm not in the market... er, dunno really. I've learnt that what I think would make a good partner often doesn't, and vice versa. I guess someone who tolerates my shoe-collecting tendencies and doesn't expect too much of me. Fortunately my other half fits the bill (in fact she even encourages me, I have to wonder about her sanity sometimes.)

OT: They need to have a compatible sense of humor. I need to like the sound of their laugh. They have to be somewhat of a homebody as I don't like going out all the time.

Good points. I have dated girls that constantly want to go out. I enjoy getting pissed as much as the next guy, but it gets old when it's most nights.

Why? Are you worried about the honor of Your House or the sanctity of your seed?

My proper list would go something like this...

Within 3-4 years of my age, I'm only 19, so 18-23 would work

Shorter than me

Doesn't have big feet

Hair colour not important

In good shape

Looks after herself, but isn't a dike about it

Isn't obsessed with Twiter, Fb and all that. Doesn't spend her life on her phone

Witty, sharp. I don't mind if she's not 'book' clever, but I don't like air heads

Kind, doesn't want to cause constant arguments.

Doesn't need to be by my side constantly, has her own life.

Has at least one interesting hobby or activity to partake in

Not politically correct

No major tattoos

Dresses well

It was a "joke"--by the most lenient definition--that didn't work because it was inappropriate in context. Don't try to cover it up by saying people don't get your humor as though it's profound. You didn't think it through.

hmmm, I'm not to be picky, but if I had to say
  • Has to be a woman
  • has to be in shape
  • able to be tolerate my quirks, at the very least.
  • Doesn't throw a [censored] fit if I forgot to call her one day, even though we saw/will see each other.
  • a minor preference would be that she's more outgoing than me.
  • Will not lose their [censored] and go ape about politics and religion.
  • Can handle her alcohol if she drinks. If she doesn't, then I don't want her to force me to never drink.

Must be female.

Must be within 6 years of my age.

Must be fit.

Must be smart. By my standards.

Must be able to laugh at all of: The Devil's Rejects. And at other things that most of the world doesn't find funny and would be offended by.

That laugh must not be annoying.

Must not want marriage.

Must not want kids.

Must not want a house.

I'm told that I am very picky. But I've earned that right.

That's because there's nothing to be thought through, it's obviously a poor attempt to cover up his childishly trivia pursuit styled idea of 'smarts'.
