People choose to play a lord in the homeland of the nords and thier racists?
Tbh, before the game came out I couldn't decide what to play as, never been a big fan of elves although I'm jealous of thier magic racials, kinda fancied playing the much improved looking khajit and claw things to death but hadn't 100% decided, turned on the game watched the intro and nord just felt the most natural, someone returning home in a time of crisis. Rather then a strange khajit in a strange land that doesn't usually trust them or let them into thier cities yet for some reason aside form a few comments on your race you have the freedom to go anywhere, I've not seen anyone mention even a special quest to be allowed inside or anything.
In Oblivion I played an Imperial most of the time, maybe I'll just have to wait til we go to Elsewheyr til I can play a Khajit and really enjoy it.
Plently of other games which have multiple race choices lead to people making comments on your race, even some without the choices will have people hate you for what you are (Deus Ex).
Cut the windhelm racism crud too, There are 2 homeless nords in the city one injured at war and now struggles to breath, he is not given a home though and has lost everything due to the injury, no special treatment. Theres 3 Dark Elves that are owners of business, one a tiny stall but they have only just arrived and proved themself useful by actually trying, one has a famous alchemy shop, with huge living quarters and generally really nice and other owner of a farm with several nords in his employ. Thats all on the land of the racist king, yeah I really think when they say skyrim for the nords they mean to kick every other race out of the land. On the other hand there is 2 nord drunks one just tagging along that "bullies" the elves in thier "slum" (1/3rd of a cities that is run down in general only a select few nice home which people who have lived there for ages own, you expect them to be kicked out for refugees that won't lift a finger in any manner for either side to save thier new homes that where given to them?) which point that out to this one female elf who just washes her hands of the situation (wonder why thier last home was wrecked) and then claims the whole city is trash.
