what would you like to add or change in skyrim?

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 11:00 pm

Having children of your own from a marriage would be good too. There could also be some interesting combinations - Argonian/Kajiit mixed kids would be an interesting result, imagine a furry lizard or a scaly cat
interesting... Bretons are human and elf (i think aldmer specifically) half-breeds. right? perhaps an Altmer and a human race (Altmer because they try to keep the Aldmer bloodlines strong) could produce a breton child? :celebration: itsa girl!
Skyrim would require a lot of changes for this to work, but it's possible. a genetics system would have to be indroduced, and the player character would somehow have to be "anolysed" to get the "DNA" information. probably just a simple table with things like hair colour, skin shade etc.

also, the length of pregnancy is an issue. i don't want my female Altmer, Erissa to be carrying a baby for nine in-game months. would make dragon slaying hard. it needs to be reduced. also, same-six couples. the Altmer i mentioned earlier, Erissa, is married to Aela the Huntress (thought i was a guy lol, and didn't remember that i was female until i went to the altar and maramal said "here's the blushing bride". i play on my friend's 360, and i always forget stuff about my character). this makes having a child rather difficult. and i would like to actually have my own little breton (since couple is altmer/nord cross), not adoption. perhaps a quest could result in a mage combining samples (some hair or similar source of DNA. i would say blood, but red blood cells do not have nuclei) of the couple together to create some item (a special quest-item potion? marked as quest item so you don't lose it, but can be drinked), that when used/drunk, impregnates the user. but that doesn't solve the problem for male couples. some alternate method needed for them. a different quest, probably. and bethesda need to keep the game from becoming 18+ rated (so no graphic scenes. some of us are still early/mid-teens!!!).
hmm... tricky system. but possible for part of an expansion.
edit:
I'd add in the remaining 80% of the guild questlines.
this as well. and lycanthropy perk tree (gamejam video)

But I guess this generation is full of impatient kids who would look at a piece of written dialogue and find it overwhelming. Reading? Nope. They need to be spoon-fed.
not cool dude. i'm only a teenager, yes, BUT i can read so fast that you wouldn't believe it even if you saw it with your own eyes. i surprise everyone i know with my reading capabilities. i love reading. :read:
or do i? my age prevents me from being good at something? just because i'm a teenager, obviously i'm an illiterate no-lifer that can't think of anything more complex than 1+2 = 3. everyone knows that all teenagers vandalise property, smoke and fail every class.

or are most teenagers smart people that are often misunderstood by "grown-ups"? i know a lot of teens that are more responsible and mature than most advlts. true story.

It's a small detail, but I've always found that it was a pity that you couldn't give the Thalmor dossier of Ulfric to him. It must be painful to falsely believe that
Spoiler
the Imperial City fell because of his fault
. Maybe sometime I'll make a mod to fix that, and to allow Ulfric as a companion in reward (kings must also have fun sometimes :D ).

that is a great idea! perhaps you oculd create a modded one on Jarl Elsief (bet i spelt that wrong), and get something from her as a reward.

I'm surprised this one hasn't been mentioned, because I remember a lot of people complaining about it... underwater combat

More spells, and a lot of the removed spell effects back. Where is my water walking, unlock spells and bound armor? :swear:

I'd add in the remaining 80% of the guild questlines.

Whoa! Those would be some damn long questlines. My estimate would be around 50% :hehe:

"six" with your wife in bed like in New Vegas. lolol

Fade to black and some sound effects, for those not in the know

Buff and disease icons on the main screen.

One of those "I can't believe i have to use a mod for this!" things, along with SkyUI, categorised favorites menu, and map with roads.

Well actually, after Fallout 3 and Oblivion i suspected i have to use an UI mod, i just never imagined how much the default one would svck. Oblivion's and Fallout 3's UIs are uncomfortable, but usable. Skyrim's was apparently meant to be only looked, not used.

A martial arts perks tree = unarmored + hand-to-hand combined and maybe something else. I'm trying a monk build but it doenst work in the game right now (without using enchant/heavy armor, of course).

Relax. I didn't mean to imply that all kids / teenagers are illiterate.

All I meant was there are a lot of younger gamers who have grown up on games with fully-voiced dialogue, and as a result are very intolerant towards written dialogue in games, despite the obvious advantages.

Older gamers who grew up on RPGs with written dialogue tend to have a better understanding of what's been lost in the transition to fully-voiced dialogue. That isn't to say they're smarter or more literate.

And watch the computer kill an enemy for them for them to feel badass (kill cams)

But yeah, add a kill cam toggle,
add hand to hand
add shortswords
add weaponm degredation

Yeah. I know. Welcome to the forum. I, myself, wouldn't complain if there was some text-based dialogue. I can understand the argument that it allows for deeper lore and/or more meanigful conversation (using one's imagination, that is). But choosing the "my opinion is the bester because I'm more smartest than you" option to explaining yourself is pretty lame and such a cop out. I can understand why Bethesda did away with it and I can understand why people like or dislike voice only dialogue. I could take it or leave it.

C'mon, Toggles. Those that actually like the killcams do so for more reasons than being impatient children with ADHD. This line of argument makes yours look weak: "they don't like my idea for toggles because they are stupider than me... uh, huh... huh, huh... uh, huh... ". Seriously, dude. It's getting old. Go do something productive.

eh, i don't care wether or not the dialogue is voiced or not. i think the main thing that needs improvement is the lack of personality in some characters. especially after marriage, where everyone has generic lines and all. plus, the marriage system doesn't seem like romance at all. more like an extended sleepover.
i like using Cicero as a follower due to his unique behaviour (you're sneaking around a dungeon and he randomly starts dancing) and quotes, i wish more NPC followers did things like this. eg perhaps one has a habit of flipping a coin etc. i like the little things a lot. it's pretty funny to see the palyer character playing tag with a bunch of kids, or trying to catch butterflies
PS: if you want to see a butterfly, but you can't find them, get your follower to throw some dairy products into the air.
PPS: sorry about earlier post, i svck at sarcasm.

I would like for them to add a role-playing slider so that you could customize the level of role play, just as you can the difficulty, basically I could see at least 3 modes:

1. Novice - The vanilla game as it is now
2. Adept - Make requirements for the charachter to eat and sleep as follows:
a. Player must eat every 12 hours or suffer a 30% loss in maximum health until they do. (if they stay hungry another 30% health is dropped, until the charachter is dead so yes you can starve to death)
b. Change the recipes to add positive long term buffs for 4 - 8 hours after the meal (suggestions could be venison steak adds +5 mele damage, tomato soup adds 5% magic resistance, just examples here but you get the idea)
c. Eating unprepared food like an apple or something will remove the negative buff, but provides no benefit
d. Player must sleep for 8 hours if awake for 36 hours, counter is reset if the player sleeps at least 6 hours before hitting this mark, or they lose 30% of max stamina, if stamina reaches zero the charachter moves as if over-encumbered.
e. They can add carryable bed rolls and even tents and cooking gear so that you can camp comfortably on the road to assist with meeting this requirement. (Wouldn't it be nice to pull off the road and roast that freshly killed deer, eat it then sleep under the stars. They could even add some dialogue to the guards if you attempt to setup camp in a town or something.)
3. hardcoe - All of the above mentioned features, plus remove onscreen compass, onscreen quest markers, and disable fast travel.

I think if they did this the big advantage would be that the world could be larger, make it a 2 - 3 day trek to some of the towns, put more travlers on the road, maybe the Kajit traders would see your camp and offer a discount if they can stay with you for the night, put in random encounters that may wake you in the night, thus messing up your sleep scedule or something, I just think it would be more imersive, and I wouldn't think it would cause that much of a hardware drain to have a couple of extra counters running in the background.

Consequences for actions and recognition for achievements.
Loads more spell tomes.
Economy. Even as simple as spend hours chopping wood, traders nearby have a bit more gold.
More enemy variety.
More armour/clothing and shoes.
Joinable Forsworn/Silver Hands/Vigilants.
Less, many less, essentials, especially the camp leaders.
The journal is very poor. Add more text for everything, and include directions.

Some of these hopes are just a tad far fetched....
Personally, i'd like more fetures focusing on the enconomy. Something that forces you to make money, instead of just blindly picking coins up. Like a farm or buisness. You have to invest money into land or building, invest in the goods being produced and sold, invest in upkeep, and then NPCs could buy shares from your buisness, or even buy the whole buisness. (okay its a bit far fetched and Farmville-ey but hey its pretty cool :P)
I'd also like the god 'ol fashioned canvas map, instead of the Google Maps one. I know its cus of the 3D mountainous landscape, but contour lines could be used.
Underwater combat is a bit silly, but i think limited combat or shouting when at the surface of the water would be good.
A hardcoe mode would be nice too. Obsidian did it in New Vegas, so its obviously possible AND effective.
OOH! And a better yeild mechanic. I loved the block and comunicate one in Oblivion. If it didnt work, it would tell you. In Skyrim, you just put away your weapon and try to talk to an attacker. If he doesnt yeild, you've just lost 60% of health!
