What do you miss most from pass games?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 8:22 am

1) Distinction between races - Even Daggerfall did it better than Morrowind. There used to be advantages and disadvatanges in each race, in Skyrim there is no difference between the races. They are start the same, the bonuses are a joke.

2) Classes - Having to make decisions before the game started was a staple of TES, until Skyrim, and forced you to make choices and then have consequences for those choices. Sure, by the end you pretty much could do anything but in the beginning you have to stay with what you chose if you wanted to leve up. Instead of removing the races, they should have fixed them

3) Birthsigns - the Standing Stones in Skyrim are a joke. Again, there is no decision nor consequence because you can change the standing stones at will.

4) Climbing - Removing it was a mistake. It would have made the thief class and the assassin class much more fun to play. If other companies can do it and make it work there is no reason for Bethesda to still not be able to make it work after 3 more games since Daggerfall.

5 ) Spell Making - To remove that is just a slap in the face to those who Role Play mages. Whoever make this decision should be fired. If you can't make that work than you really need new people working for you because without Spell Making the Mages are pretty much useless to Role Play. Role Playing a mage who isn't even smart enough to make their own spells? Please.

6) Levitation - Sure it could be abused to the hilt, but that doesn't mean it couldn't have been modified to work. Instead of allowing us to levitate to space why not just allow us to levitate to the top of a building. Just that much would be great. You can even make it a very high skill level and spell so that you can only use it when you are pretty powerful. There are all kinds of ways to make it so it won't be abused. Instead of removing it, make it better.

7) Real Guilds and requirements for them - The Companions in Skyrim are a freaking joke to be used to replace the Fighters Guild. Not having guild halls in all the cities are also a joke. Not having any requirements for the guilds is the ultimate joke. Why should I be able to be Arch Mage when a "Light" spell is the max of my ability? That is just assinine.

8) Distinguishing skills for weapons - Just because I can swing a dagger and be good with it doesn't mean I can pick up a 60 lb axe and just just as capable and good. Bring back Long Blade, Short Blade, and 2 handed weapons as skills. I would even make a separte skill for Axes and Blunt Weapons, although I would be willing to just keep it with my first list.

9) Pack Animals - Daggerfall had the carts, Morrowind had the Pack Animals. The next TES game needs something other than useless companions as pack animals.

10) Locking Picking and Open Spells and bashing of locks - The lock Picking minigame is a JOKE. Lock Picking should rely on your skill ALONE, not on the ability to use the game pad. The mini-game has made Lock Picking a worthless skill. While on the subject there should also be Open spells for the mages. I'm not a thief, don't force me to be one to open a cage or a door. I should be able to use a spell, if I'm a mage, or bash the lock if I'm a warrior or pick the lock if I'm a thief/assassin.

This is just off the top of my head. I could add more if I had more time and thought about it but I think this just shows that Skyrim has taken a huge downturn from anything previously in the TES franchise and that things need to change drastictly

How distant are you talking? I have shot across the river from Valthiam Towers to hit the bandit up on the cliff on the other side. It was an incredibly hard shot to make requiring many attempts, especially since I play with no crosshairs, and since my Nord does not use bows much, I had to hit the bandit several times to drop him. Wasted a lot of arrows, but did hit the mark occassionally and finally dropped the bandit.

It's mostly all already been said. The problem is Bethesda doesn't seem to be listening.

Thank god. I don't miss at all most of the things mentioned. some like weapon degredation I dance for its demise.

absolutely.

and, if i have to micro-manage it means the depth of the game is greater and i can customize more.

more options is better.

The option to fail.

This. It made things more fun by making it unpredictable.

Cliff Racers.

:ahhh:
HA! I anticipated a similar response.

you got it in them dragons..

Dragons don't give you black-heart blight though!
No kidding. I almost quit playing Morrowind because of those damn things.

I may get it for PC now. I am sure that there is a mod to take their numbers down.

I know oblivion had two rings. I liked this better, because I can wear two rings at a time. Do you know how many morrowind let you have

So you prefer "Dumbed Down" RPG's and instant gratification? Congratulations, you are the new targe audience for Bethesda.

I think this is because they realized Radiant Story wasn't going to make compelling Primary content (Faction Storylines and Main Quest content) a little too late. So they didn't have time to bring quality and quantity up to par.

I don't want to rip Radiant Story a new voidhole. It has amazing potential, but I feel it's best used in a secondary-content kind of way. Thieves Guild jobs from Vex and Delvin as prime examples.

I wouldn't mind radient quests if they didn't interfere with regular quests. I mean, bringing in the occasional bandit bounty sounds cool, but it shouldn't completly replace some of the more memorable quests

i miss the creepy daedric ruins, winged twilights, and golden saints from morrowind..

I hated the daedric ruins. I mean, sure, they looked cool at first, but they got really repetitive. Maybe one or two would be nice, but considering Oblivion is no longer the main threat, I don't see any way to make it lore freindly

I see a lot of Regenerating health complaints. I have to say, I don't necessarily agree. If you think Regenerating health is an issue, Regenerating magicka has to be an issue as well, since starting with a healing spell and having regenerating magicka means health naturally regenerates, but in a more tedious manner. I do think it needs to be toned way down, at least scaling with difficulty. (Down to maybe 0.25% of Max per second out of combat on Master, The Default is 0.70%)

I know regenerating magika means regenerating health, but I wished they got rid of that too, tbh.

Nice thread sniping. Posts like this should be bannable. Look at the title dude. If you have a legitimate point don't mask it with sarcasm, it's insulting.

- 3 day resets from Oblivion. Whenever I was bored I'd just run a little Rockmilk Haven or Dzonot Cave for funsies, or just run from IC -> Anvil and back, killing everything in my path. Leveled creatures worked really well with this.
- Proper Archery, also from Oblivion.
- Proper quests from Morrowind.
- Larger height differences between Races.
- The typical fantasy creatures from Oblivion. Most of you probably hated them, but I absolutely loved Minotaurs/Goblins/Imps, etc.

That's about it, hope most of it can be modded in. Especially the first one, somehow it created unlimited amounts of fun for me, it just didn't get boring.

I kinda liked archery better, it just felt really underpowered in Oblivion

Aye, but the gravity (having to aim above the target) made it a lot more challenging, plus your arrows don't dissapear mid-air, allowing for long snipe shots.
