2) Classes - Having to make decisions before the game started was a staple of TES, until Skyrim, and forced you to make choices and then have consequences for those choices. Sure, by the end you pretty much could do anything but in the beginning you have to stay with what you chose if you wanted to leve up. Instead of removing the races, they should have fixed them
3) Birthsigns - the Standing Stones in Skyrim are a joke. Again, there is no decision nor consequence because you can change the standing stones at will.
4) Climbing - Removing it was a mistake. It would have made the thief class and the assassin class much more fun to play. If other companies can do it and make it work there is no reason for Bethesda to still not be able to make it work after 3 more games since Daggerfall.
5 ) Spell Making - To remove that is just a slap in the face to those who Role Play mages. Whoever make this decision should be fired. If you can't make that work than you really need new people working for you because without Spell Making the Mages are pretty much useless to Role Play. Role Playing a mage who isn't even smart enough to make their own spells? Please.
6) Levitation - Sure it could be abused to the hilt, but that doesn't mean it couldn't have been modified to work. Instead of allowing us to levitate to space why not just allow us to levitate to the top of a building. Just that much would be great. You can even make it a very high skill level and spell so that you can only use it when you are pretty powerful. There are all kinds of ways to make it so it won't be abused. Instead of removing it, make it better.
7) Real Guilds and requirements for them - The Companions in Skyrim are a freaking joke to be used to replace the Fighters Guild. Not having guild halls in all the cities are also a joke. Not having any requirements for the guilds is the ultimate joke. Why should I be able to be Arch Mage when a "Light" spell is the max of my ability? That is just assinine.
8) Distinguishing skills for weapons - Just because I can swing a dagger and be good with it doesn't mean I can pick up a 60 lb axe and just just as capable and good. Bring back Long Blade, Short Blade, and 2 handed weapons as skills. I would even make a separte skill for Axes and Blunt Weapons, although I would be willing to just keep it with my first list.
9) Pack Animals - Daggerfall had the carts, Morrowind had the Pack Animals. The next TES game needs something other than useless companions as pack animals.
10) Locking Picking and Open Spells and bashing of locks - The lock Picking minigame is a JOKE. Lock Picking should rely on your skill ALONE, not on the ability to use the game pad. The mini-game has made Lock Picking a worthless skill. While on the subject there should also be Open spells for the mages. I'm not a thief, don't force me to be one to open a cage or a door. I should be able to use a spell, if I'm a mage, or bash the lock if I'm a warrior or pick the lock if I'm a thief/assassin.
This is just off the top of my head. I could add more if I had more time and thought about it but I think this just shows that Skyrim has taken a huge downturn from anything previously in the TES franchise and that things need to change drastictly
