So I just noticed a little "blink and you'll miss it" moment which may well debunk the the-dragons-know-who-you-are-and-are-sent-to-kill/save-you-at-Helgen theories that seem to be floating about.

Major spoilers though, so tags to save you; you've been warned.

The dragons can talk. Upon Mirmulnir being defeated when his soul starts to be absorbed he says:

"Dovahkiin! No!!"

It certainly gives me the impression that he (who attacked Helgen) had no idea that you were Dragonborn until that point.

On an unrelated note he also at some point says during the battle itself "Thurri du hin sille ko Sovngarde!", but I can only speculate on what that might mean.

...I don't hear anything like that... That's when he does the meteorite shout from on top the tower. Are we talking about the same video?

It makes no sense that it's alduin. It's just another dragon.

It is not the same 25 minute video, but it is from a similarly unscrupulous source; it also has subtitles which I why I can say these things accurately at least, I wouldn't trust "what it sounds like".

Its a Jill. The dragon and the image of Alduin we have look nothing alike. The spikes on the head are different, the wings look slightly different and the claws are different. Thats definitely not Alduin.

I'm telling you, it's Mirmulnir. He was mentioned in a couple articles. He's the only dragon around at the start.

Has there been a confirmed size for Alduin or is everyone just assuming he will be huge?

Alduin is a metaphor, he's inside all of us.

There are clear simlarities between this Dragon and what we know Alduin to look like. So this dragon has to be important. But Alduin is also supposed to be HUGE, so could there be bigger Jills? I think this dragon looks like the friendly dragon from later. Maybe the same?

This would make more sense than it being Alduin. Use logic: Alduin wants you dead... so he interrupts YOUR EXECUTION.

Saw a screenshot of the intro with the subtitles on. It listed his fire shout and had a name in front of it.

It's Alduin.

But it's not the dragon that you can ally with. The dragon that you can ally with doesn't have the same shape of tail, or the particular formation of spikes on the back or on the head. And this dragon is black, where as your allied dragon is more of a maroon (or purple, if you must) color.

I don't believe it is Mirmulnir either, as not only is he suddenly without the Fus and meteor shout, but Mirmulnir also looks more like http://i.imgur.com/NN9ff.jpg type of dragon, which certainly is not the one from the intro.

He is alduin i show a video general subtitles on and when dragon shouts it says alduin:for vak na or something like that.
