Who is that dragon!

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 8:38 pm

Gee, so we already know that there are various different 'colours' of dragon, and they all look slightly different in appearance, such as the green dragons having a crest, etc.

It really makes me wonder what the black dragons (Jills, related to Alduin) are going to look like... Maybe they'll be big and spiky like the one in the flipping introduction.

I would bet a month of my Skyrim time from the release date that it isn't Alduin. I'm pretty sure that when we see him, there will be no question. Though honestly, we won't be able to know until the release. I, just like everyone else here, am just voicing my opinion based on the facts I have seen laid down by my own observations and those of others.

"So the legends are true!" "Legends don't burn down villages" I really don't think it is him and they are trying to prove that to us in the beginning. I do admit it looks close guys but I really don't think so. Remember, the dragons have to awaken and THEN Alduin

I would really like to see someone's opinion on what I have just mentioned. I think that is a significant point I brought up.

Whatever that dragon was it exhibited use of what.. 3 shouts? If that's wasn't Alduin, I can't WAIT to face him.

First off, the Jills are also black Dragons and are Alduin's personal guard. So that was most likely one of them, I'd imagine they would look similar.

But that has been already mentioned so I'll say this:

Isn't the whole purpose of the Dragonborn to stop Alduin from ending existence? If he's already here at the start of the game, wouldn't the Dovahkiin be pointless? I mean it's not like Alduin is gonna just chill for a bit while you complete the main story then decide "oh, I should kill everything now" 120 hours in if he's already here. Unless he's a Bond Villain :P

Why do people assume that dragon is at the execution to save you? I mean, really? It ATTACKS the player. It's not there to help anyone, it's there to slaughter mortals mercilessly. If anything it's there to hunt you down.

Im totally with you on this. We can argue similarities and discrepancies in appearance but the truth is Alduin is the LAST dragon to appear. So it would have to be obvious dragons are back to be Alduin.

If it's not him, I've gotta say it must be a pretty convincing double.

Alduin wouldn't be so pathetic that he can't kill one bound prisoner.

A jill sent to kill the Dragonborn perhaps. Which would be ironical since it saved him instead.

I don't think it was even sent to kill the dovakhin, it was just dumb luck.

Like in OB, it was just luck you were in the cell the emperor needed.

I 100% agree with you're reasoning. While that first dragon is scary, it isn't likely that Bethesda would show the final dragon at the start of their game. Talk about spoilers. lol I however do believe it is the dragon you will ally with later on, or possibly the first dragon you fight in Bleakfalls, more the former than the latter, simply because of the look he gives you when you're head is on the chopping block. Any thoughts?

Nope, I am fairly certain it is in fact Alduin. I have a post earlier on in this thread with a comparison. Either that, or dragons really do, look alike.

But WHHHHHY would they show him so early? If that really was the BIGGEST dragon, than it would ruin the fact that every dragon after that is smaller and less frightening. No story starts with the climix and works its way down. right?

Out of irony? I mean think about it, there is a prophecy of us stopping him. He goes off to try and stop us before we are a threat to him, and ends up making the prophecy self fulfilling by saving us from death. Pretty standard stuff.

That dragon was fairly small, there's no way it can be Alduin. The Nordic god of destruction would probably be able to raze the outpost the player was in just by sneezing.

Bethesda would not base their whole epic story on irony! If this story revolves around irony I will be very sad and surprised. Can we all agree though that we hope it wasn't Alduin?

Edit: It also seems like he/she is kind F'ing around, not a very serious life or death thing, more of a savior thing. imo.

I have a comparison photo posted, and the likeness is pretty spot on. It's post #60 in this thread.

I do see the likeness, Theres no doubting in that photo. I just really can't/won't believe it's THE dragon at the very start of the game. lol

They do look quite similar. Ah well, if it IS him then it means he was there for the Dragonborn, a God surely wouldn't bother harassing imperial outposts for no reason.

It could be intriguing if they have him actually stalk us periodically throughout the main quest, or we have several close calls. I mean if it's done well, it would be much better than hearing/seeing absolutely nothing of the antagonist at all till they magically show up at the very end, and get little to no development or sense of danger from them.
