Why is everyone being so pessimistic?

Post » Sun Jun 12, 2011 9:06 am

Since i've gotten here all i've seen is people being pessimistic about Skyrim. I don't consider suggestions or speculation to pesssimistic, i'm actually talking about things like "I saw/heard such and such in a demo video and now i'm worried that such and such is going to happen." How come when you see something or hear the devs mention something you automatically expect the worst?

I honestly think Skyrim will be a fine game.

I'd rather be wrongly pessimistic than wrongly optimistic.

Its the fans who got into the series early who dont want to see any change and want to play the same game over and over.

So why do people gotta spread that negative attitude? "I'm pessimistic so I'm going to argue with people until they are pessimistic too!"

I agree but get ready for the ''we only made hundreds of attribute threads because we care about the game and its constructive criticism '' [censored]. People complain because they are pessemistic and only 0.1% complain because they genuinely think something that actually has a chance of being addressed can be changed with Fan support. I saw a thread earlier where someone complained about the draugh's eyes glowing and the textures were poor

Uhm no.It's the fans who see good features taken out for no reason whatsoever. Or see stuff ruined in order to"streamline" the game.

Yeah I rarely judge a game based on it predecessors. Unlike some people on this forum who compare skyrim to oblivion or morrowind. If this was the first game in the series you would think it was awesome.

What pessimistic? After seeing the prevailing trend from Daggerfall to Morrowind to Oblivion, that's "realistic."

"When in doubt, predict that the current trend will continue."

In time, I expect to see "TES VII: The FPS."

How about people be optimistic, even after things don't turn out as planned. I'd rather be happy most of the time than sad most of the time.

 its not about being pessimistic. its about pointing out what could be better (or possible flaws) so we can discuss it together and maybe even the devs see it. we do it because we love the series and want skyrim to be the best it can be

Because Bethesda has exaggerated and been dishonest in the past. They said Oblivion would have good combat and NPC interactions. We all know how that turned out. They said NPC interaction in Fallout 3 would be improved over Oblivion, instead it was virtually removed, etc etc.

A lot of people, myself included, found many aspects of Oblivion disappointing. Thats probably the main reason.
Myself I'd rather take a glass half full than a glass half empty approach.

is that why there was hundreds of threads on attributes, so people could discuss and hopefully the devs will change the whole game's mechanics for one thing?

I think everyone is just getting antsy. Go on any game forum with a decent following and you'll see the same. Makes no since whatsoever, Especially
the Bioware forums

That's just a bull attitude. Being pessimistic all the time makes your life a lot less pleasant to live. Why would you want to be automatically pessimistic when you could have just a little more positive look on things?

Oh no, not everybody is pessimistic.
It is just that pessimists are noisier and tend to open more treads then those that are optimistic.

Basic human psychology, has actually absolutely nothing to do with being realistic, concern, etc.

Should be "prepare" for the worst. This is a philosophy to live unhappily by. I agree with Skyrimmer. Just be happy folks.
