Why join imperials?

Does no one else see that the Thalmor had/has the empire under their thumb? The empire became their puppet to save their own hides. Siding with the empire IS siding with the Thalmor.

Well, If Ulfric was crowned High King of Skyrim, he'd probably kick out every person who isn't a Nord.
Why? hes racist.
even in the loading screen it says:
Skyrim is the home of the Nords... so not ulfric is a racist but the whole game.

so stop complaining about it, or find an other game where u can kiss asses.

I side with the Imperials. Because for the most part they respect other races and culture. For example: In Morrowind they respected the Dunmer's beliefs and customs. So the dunmer were allowed to keep their ancient traditions. Such as ancestor worship, the Tribunal and they respected the dunmers negative views on necromancy.

For the most part Nords are allowed the keep their ancient traditions, with the exception of Talos worship and challenging the High King.

The empire has never come across to me as superior jerks, unlike the Altmer.

Also the empire must stand united against their true enemy, the Dominion.

So the Empire only took away freedom of religion and the right of self rule... gotcha

Can anyone come up with a good reason for an Argonian joining the Stormcloaks? Impossible I say.

Can you come up with a logical reason for an Argonian to join the Empire...?

Spoiler

After breaking into the Thalmor Embassy, for my third time , I found a certain item (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Thalmor_Dossier:_Ulfric_Stormcloak)
Ulfric's death would have dramatically increased the chance of an Imperial victory and thus harmed our overall position in Skyrim.
That made me join the Empire. Any way I can harm the Thalmor, I will. In addition to this, the Stormcloaks are racists and left a very bad impression on my character.
Note: My character is an Argonian Mage and Archer.

That was one captain who was offer officious, the Stormcloaks are a bunch of racist, xenophobic and ignorant barbarians so I'm going to side with the Empire if it's all the same to you.

I agree, also Ulfric didn't exactly have the clearest understanding of the whole picture. The Empire's decision for a treaty was ultimately the wisest move - they established a tenious peace to lick their wounds and rebuild their forces for a future attack on the Thalmor (I got the vibe that the Imperials didn't like the Thalmor, so I'm assuming they're going to exact revenge sometime in the future). Giving up may not have been the way of the Nords (Ulfric often mentions how weak this is) but a chance for a second strike is better than an "honorable death."

Also, if Ulfric really wanted the worship of Talos back, why didn't he just take sides with the Empire and together - crush the Dominion? By kicking the Imperials out of Skyrim he truly fullfilled his role as a puppet of the Thalmor. He removed Skyrim's greatest asset against the Dominion, caused a rift among the people, which further weakened Skyrim and replaced the Imperials with a weaker, thinly spread army.

Ulfric's a good guy and the Empire is kind of a dike but man... he could've planned things out better.

Well, the Empire has no choice but side with the Thalmor. From the sounds of the Thalmor crushed the Empire during the Great War so they had no choice but sign the treaty. Siding with the Empire may be siding with the Thalmor to an extent, but I'm sure the Empire dislikes the Thalmor for killing hundreds of Imperials in the war. I'm sure there's enough resentment for future revenge... So the Imperials may be shaking hands with the Dominion right now but they have a waiting dagger behind their back

I'm really hoping there will be DLC continuing the civil war story for both sides.

Not sure...All evidence points to the DLC surrounding the whole "Bug in Jar" prophecy...I won't spoil it but a clue would be to think of the Full Metal Alchemist plot...Especially the construction of the Philosopher's Stone.

Think of the Stormcloaks as a group that only cares about provinces the seceded from the Empire. From Ulfric's dialogue, he wants to conquer much of Tamriel in the end and beat the Thalmor back to Summerset Isles.

Just as every empire falls, the Imperial Empire is falling right now. Helping the Empire will be like keeping afloat a boat with holes in them. After the Thalmor are pushed out, what then?

Stormcloaks are a way of clicking the reset button to the days right before Talos. In fact, even Talos himself probably frowns at the current Empire. The Emperor isn't a real Emperor, he's the descendent of a conqueror who let the Empire fall apart even before the Thalmor.
