Why join imperials?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 2:58 am

True, so the question is, do you want a unified Tamriel or not. The races have always been in conflict, but the Empire makes strides to quell that. They may not be perfect but its a damn sight better than segregation.

Simple to me both sides are scumbags.... So I say KILL EM ALL and LET TALOS SORT EM OUT!!!......

How do you figure? The Thalmor couldn't take Hammerfell. I think of it as, the Thalmor would have to fight multiple fronts if the Empire were dissolved.
If the Stormcloaks were in power, they would seal off their borders and go defensive. The Redguards are also not invading, they are just keeping the Thalmor out, that leaves the Dunmer (who are a joke), The Argonians (who most likely suffered major casualties defeating the Dark Elves and even 200 years later haven't recovered), The Khajitt seem to be rather divided, like the kender of Dragonlance (could be wrong, who knows), Valenwood is with the Thalmor and the Empire would be almost destroyed after trying to stop the provinces rebelling.

the Third R-Er.. the Thalmor.

Hitler for the Godwin.

Just call them "The Elfclave" and I think everyone will get it.

Also Nords belong in the Ground.

The racism comes from Ulfric himself. If you ask around, you will be told of a band of bandits that terrorize elves and nothing is being done about it. The Dark Elves live in squalor, that is partially their fault (which you can find out from the High Elf merchant) and partially the racism again.
That is true. But I acknowledged the discrimination of the Dunmer. I only said we have to have some understanding of the circumstances. Compare the situation with WOII: we will all agree that Ulfric's policies are nowhere near as afwul as those practices by Hitler. But if you think about it, Ulfric's policies are even milder than the imprisonment of 100.000 Japanese citizens in the US. He has the Dunmer in a separate part of town but not interned, even though his distrust of them may be a realistic concern and not just racist paranoia.

But at the first opportunity he would send them packing, at sword point if necessary.

For a while I was having trouble picking a side. Then I found a book (I forget the details now) about how Ulfric took a town and killed everyone, even women and kids. After that I sided with the Imperials. Ulfric makes some good points, but he's an a-hole.

I see the Imperial (read: Thalmor) propaganda reel is working then...

It really is one of those "lesser of two evils" scenarios. Funny thing is, our own world's history has proven time and time again that backing the "lesser of two evils" often results in the lesser becoming the more evil in the end, thanks in large part to that very same support provided to them.

See: The United States' decision to back Iran over Iraq in the 80's.

Because the Stormcloaks are tools of the Thalmor and Ulfric is incompetent?

You're joking, right...? The Imperials are even bigger tools of the Thalmor and Tidus Mede II has already shown his perpetual ignorance and incompetence during the Great War.

I'd rather side with the people that aren't cudgel-weilding barbarians.

Besides, we all know that Tiber Septim was just a man, not a god.

So, retaking the Imperial City with Goldbrand is incompetent?

Ulfric is capable of doing something like that, the Empire is just exaggerating his character to back their cause, the Stormcloaks as well.

One side is exaggerating the good side of his ambition, and viceversa.

No, but letting the whole alliance between the provinces crumble was.

One win does not make up for everything that's been lost. You're just as delusional as the rest of the Empire.

Because Ulfric is the world's biggest moron, apart from the thalmor. Take a nice trip to windhelm and you'll see.

You can tell that a game series is awesome when players debate the politics and history. :)

I can't understand why, in a recent poll, sooo many people favoured the imperials over the stormcloaks.
The imperials captured you, and we about to execute you for no reason, and you were not even on the list to be executed. Is this a group of people you want to work for? lol
The Empire wanted to execute you because they took you for a Stormcloak, so it's Stormcloak's fault as well. Stormcloaks are racist, and just a-holes in general.

So, we should support the one who used the Thu'um to pin down Torygg and stab him to death with an iron dagger.

That's murder.

The politics and lore are very interesting.

I will join the Stormcloaks and Imperials with several different characters based on roleplaying reasons. I am not going to let my personal views on certain issues cloud what my character would do.

So we should support the man that fled his own city when the Thalmor attacked and allowed his faithful citizens and soldiers to be slaughtered mercilessly?? Just so he could save himself??

That's the epitome of cowardice.
