why no werebears?

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 1:53 pm

Werebears should deff be in Skyrim!! They are in the lore and common to the land and also in the Gamejam so Beth can definitely add them maybe just touch them up and wham-o!

my opinion is based exactly on that assumption. I can't think of any major difference between a rampaging werewolf and a rampaging werebear.
Last time I checked Bears and Wolves are totally different

Todd Howard Specifically said that somethings in game jam will not be used other will. He didn't specify. I personally would like to have a werebear ring, so along with hicrines ring I would be a WB, WW, VL all at the same time.
Hircine's ring works for all Werebeast as it did in Daggerfall with both Werewolves and Wereboars. No, no one can be more than one species of Werebeast, no more than you could be a Khajiit and a Nord at the same time.

It would probably be nice to add werebears but I have to say it's very low on my list tbh

It's the same reason I want Elsweyr to have deserts and rain forests: Because that's what the lore states.

It's important for people to follow the rules of their own mythology. You can't just toss things out the window because you don't feel like following what you've established.
Werebears were never a rule of the mythology one guy claims they existed(and admits to having never seen one) and another author says werebears are the results of spun out tails of vicious normal bears. A dozen in game sources or more describe Elsweyr.

The creators shouldn't be bound to every little thing someone shoved into a ingame book but never implamented fifteen years ago.

Given the inability of DLC to interact with one another Werebears won't happen in skyrim at least not playable Werebears. They wouldn't have access to dawnguards Lycan perk tree even with It installed.

They're encountered in the novel "The Infernal City" by Greg Keyes which is canon.

The perk tree in Dawnguard labels "Werewolf" as the race, if Bethesda included werebears in dlc, they could simply make add a new perk tree for put werebear as the race.

Yeah I dont see how they wouldn't have "access" they will most likely make a whole new perk tree.

Could someone please explain to me why there is so much interest in being a werebear? Cause it sounds cool?

I hope they never add werebears and if they do, hopefully not as a usable feature. Werewolf would be so similar. Please Beth focus on other things that need to be addressed.
This^......I know I may have been out of the loop for a while but......whats the point of werebears? It just sounds like something from dungeons and dragons to me -_-'. Now I may be ignorant in the case if this is a custom or belief in another country. But even if this is the case, this is a western made RPG....hence the western design

Werebears are supposedly a major problem in Skyrim, hence their absence is something many people want rectified. Even if you just had people telling stories in taverns about them, and never encountered them, it'd be a nice change.

For me I don't need a special guild for werebears or even a questline with them, honestly just having them patched into the wild is all I need since that follows the lore. And of course the ability to catch the disease from them. Bethesda could easily incorporate this, if they made werebears slightly stronger than werewolves, have an armor rating, and some other differences than werebears would be perfect. Adding them wouldn't affect the Companions either because Bethesda could just make it so that if you join the Companions and drink the blood then it gets rid of your werebear strain and adds the Companions strain since you could look at it as their strain being from magical origin rather than contracting the disease, so it takes over and gets rid of anything else.

There will be no werebears ever in skyrim...i know because Maiq says so. DG added the new line (Which is reference to the OB line) "Werebears? Where? Bears? Men that are Bears?" which is like the Werewolves thing he said in OB which indicated that they would not be in OB

He also said "Maiq does not care how strong or smart one is, only what one can do" which reference to the complaints that personal skill shouldnt matter with things like lockpicking and the character's actions should be the result of dice rolls like MW...I agree with Maiq that this would be a terrible idea

Why does Bethesda do this? Werewolves were the most common lycanthrope in Cyrodiil, yet we get no werewolves. Now Skyrim's here and werebears were suppose to be the MOST common lycanthrope and we only get werewolves.
