Would you take immortality?

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 6:31 pm

I would, assuming I can still kill my myself, don't age, immune to all crippling diseases and can have one person be immortal with me. :P a lot conditions I know.

If my family could be immortal too, then I would take it in a heartbeat. If not I would take it and probably kill myself when my whoke family dies.

I don't think it's really worth being immortal if you can still be killed by a third party.

I think the question is: would I take immortality again?

And yes I would.

I don't care for immortality. I care for eternal youth. I'd love to be young forever. Of course, I'd love to be able to terminate my own existence. To me, there's only one "realistic" way to gain immortality/eternal youth.

When people think immortality, they pretty much think all the things that would make them a god. I think the closest humans can get to immortality is immunity to all diseases and natural death/creation of cells. This means you could still die from the obvious like an explosion, a car crash, getting squished by a fallen building.

-- But like I said, I don't care about living forever. I would rather have eternal youth. I know "eternal" youth means young forever and immortality is living forever. I don't care about "forever" I just want to be young through my full lifespan. So, I could be 80 and look 25 and still die by age 81. So really, I don't want eternal anything, I just want a natural lifespan with the exception of youth throughout.

Who wouldn't take immortality with the option to still die? That removes the whole dilemma of whether you should take it or not.

The question should be immortality for ever (or until everyone on earth dies).

Immortality takes away the one thing a large portion of the people in the world want the most.

If the only ability I have is immortality then I would have to think about it seen as the chances of me being trapped forever becomes 100%. However if I had Telekinesis/Super Speed (basically The Flash and all his side abilities) /Teleportation/Super Strength then I'd take it in a heartbeat.

I agree with ratslayer.

Who wouldn't take it if you could do all that.

I'd still take it without those conditions, think it would be worth it to see what the human race becomes, in the next million years.

I wouldn't mind immortality, though it depends, could I be wounded? If someone cut my head off would I still be alive, cause that would be painful and not very tempting.
I don't mind death, so immortality isn't all that tempting.

Of course.
Since I don't believe in any kind of afterlife, I sure as HELL would take biological immortality.
Also, since I consider things like "soul" and "spirit" utter nonsense I do firmly believe I could still end my life if I wished so - just obliterate my body or at least the brain.
I would dedicate my immortality to science, and over the centuries write books of history to teach people what it was like to live in year X. To put it short, I would use my immortality for the benefit of others.

But imagine outliving your wife and your kids? Losing all your family, being utterly alone. Unless you could get over the fact that you're original partner is dead. I'm not one of those "I will never get married, marriage is too mainstream" people. I want to share my life with someone.

Why thank you for reminding me. Regardless if I only have Immortality I would take it. That way I can travel the stars and help humanity.

Immortal as in I will never die via any cause, like ageing, disease, and attacks that would kill a normal man, yeah I'd take it.

Though I would be miserable for the 1st century or so but I'd get over it, I'd be the Devil walking :P

I'm with Pistolero on this one. Even just living forever is a treat; Who needs any other cconditions?

I'd ensure the human race continued on, contribute to society, and most likely improve lives of everyone that I can. Excluding mine of course.
