Would you take immortality?

Again? Nah, but since I already am, I'm enjoying it.

I honestly would not take it because I know eventually, life will lose meaning and become monotonous once i run out of things to learn and porm. The beauty of life is that you CAN'T do everything and you can share experiences. It leaves you wondering. Once you know everything, what else is there to wonder about?

If it comes with eternal youth (or the ability to select age and appearance). Yes. But, I'd rather not be trapped inside a 1000 year old body.

But we are immortal beings, whether you beleive it or not. Death is merely a transition.

When you die, you're completely conscious the whole time. Imagine that.

I would, assuming I can still kill my myself, don't age, immune to all crippling diseases and can have one person be immortal with me. a lot conditions I know.
Yes I would, as long as I couldn't be wounded it a crippling way or turn out to suffer from a deceases for eternity. I'd take immprtality any day, even if it meant I couldn't kill myself or be killed in any way: as long as I couldn't be crippled either. I'm far too curious to see humanitys escape from planet earth after millions of years, or see the end of humanity anyways.

Spoiler
Mainly because in the first series he killed a lot of people for it and was still dying anyway and in the second series his entire country's people had their souls ripped out and shoved into his body.

you would have nothing left to feel though, what are you then a cocousness, a pile of ash? or do you mean your aware of the physical act of dying? I'm not for sure what you really mean, i'm not going to say anything religous on this board so as to honor their rules, but i am curious as to what you mean

I'd take it.
I would love it if i couldn't feel pain too, but i guess thats a bit too much to ask. If I coldn't feel pain + no dying, I would totally go sky-diving, without a parachute :D
I would also take my place as ruler of the world.

Though, there are tons of different abilities i would take over immortality :)

Yes, but I need other special super powers too. Like to morph into a burning skeleton and unleash powers of hell.
Something like that...

I would get pretty bored. Same old crap over and over again for the rest of time? I am not even looking forward to the next 50 years the way things are going.

The only reason why I would take it is so that I can be there to say "I told you so."

But imagine outliving your wife and your kids? Losing all your family, being utterly alone. Unless you could get over the fact that you're original partner is dead. I'm not one of those "I will never get married, marriage is too mainstream" people. I want to share my life with someone.
Why must I die when my family members die? I realize how that sounds, but really... why?

Yes. I would. The first notion of my own mortality was I never would know how things'll turn out - politics, science, everything. Still majorly bugs me.

I mean, come on. You make me die, at least give me spoilers.

Nope, not immortality and eternal youth with the ability to heal any wounds at least.

-You still feel pain

-You'd still have your mortal tendencies (such as feeling hunger, which can be as much psychological as a physical need)

-You have maybe 20 years at one go in the current world before people start catching on. Maybe can push 40 by moving around, but after that the government will catch on

-Due to the above, you have limited prospects of earning large sums of money

-Once people notice you are on the run

-Once you get caught, they will experiment on you (and you still feel pain)

-Eventually the world will be uninhabitable

-The time passing would drive you mad

-Everyone you cared about on any level will die, always

-Basically everything on here: http://www.cracked.com/article_18708_5-reasons-immortality-would-be-worse-than-death.html

Even immortality with the ability to off myself wouldn't appeal much to me. My main reasons for wanting immortality would be to experience the world as it advances, and as mentioned, you only have 20-40 year shots before having to disappear. As time goes on, your ability to reappear will be hampered by improved surveillence and identity management. Eventually you won't be able to re-integrate in society and be forced to live in a third world country or off the grid. Neither of those appeals to me in the least.

The only path I'd take is if I was granted immortality phoenix-style AND there were a group of us (preferrably 20+). Then we can pool our resources together and help cover up for each other. It's the only version of immortality I see having a working potential.

I was saying that: Imagine your body dies, but you retain conscious thought for the rest of eternity. No five senses left. Just conscious thought.

Hell yes. Immortality for me would be as to never age. I would love to be young forever. Perhaps 21 and remain that way.

so nothingness right? just the babbling of your mind to keep you company for the rest of eternity? A morbid thought i suppose

Only if I could kill myself at any time but otherwise be unable to die. It'd be painful to see your family die, but if I could see my family grow up and keep reproducing, I feel like it'd be worth it.
