Location glitch: Folgunthur / Misc Quest: Find the source of power in Folgunthur

Situation: If cleared once without obtaining word from dragon wall. (Forbidden Legend quest completed)

Effect: Upon return to claim word of power via note from stranger or quest from graybeards (find the source of power in Folgunthur), you are unable progress path the room with two chairs/levers and the floor grate that leads down to the second level. The levers on either side of the chairs will not open the doors to the puzzle rooms, and the pull ring will not activate the floor gate, only spring the trap.

System: xbox360

Found a possible fix to this bug:
Accept quest to retrieve books for Urag gro-Shub at the College.
One of the books he requests is "The Old Ways" that is located in Folgunthur.
Upon returning with this quest active everything was able to be accessed.

-In some occasions, Horses move very quickly, directly to their home (where you bought them) without animations and go though walls, objects, ect (if on a mountain or high place, they appear to fly directly to their home)
-After a few hours of games time, the whole game (across other saves) the effects of the left hand when dual casting a spell do not appear (some effects disappear on master spells)
-When having the Spell Absorption effects on self, conjuring is effected, and can be exploited when used to quickly refill Magicka with high Spell Absorption Percentage, also with high Spell Absorption percentage summoning master conjuration spells are nearly impossible
-On active effects, 2 "Conjure Potent Flame Thrall" are present, even when nothing is conjured
-When Casting Storm Thrall, the Summoned Storm Atronach is named the same as a normal Atronach, assuming the Summoned Storm Atronach isn't as powerful as a Storm Thrall (as the other 2 Thralls are named Flame/Frost Thrall), but still last permanently
-After being a Vampire (assuming) water is incorrectly animated (running water in Whiterun looks like moving river water instead) in certain points of views
-In a fully furnished house in Solitude, in the enchanting room, one of the walls (next to the mannequins) what looks like an arc keeps flashing as if it is part of the other side of the wall
-When having high Spell Absorption, quest the require you to be hit by a spell (helping Brelyna in The College of Winterhold) you sometimes Absorb the spell, making the quest virtually impossible to complete
-When using an Enchanting table, your character sometimes moves to close the table making it look like your going through the table, but slowly goes back to normal effecting nothing
-Sometimes you select a quest to show on your map, the map pops iup on another location
-(not a glitch, but an annoyance) when having a follower of any kind, they get in the way of a door way, making it impassable until they move (Storm/ Frost Atronachs don't move at all, and having 2 makes it worse)

- I have been searching for the Word Wall in Angarvunde. After completing it, I have reached the spike trap room where the dark elf dies. However the trap raises only long enough to kill her, and then descends again, blocking the way to the Word Wall. I have tried slow time and everything, it is impossible to journey further.

- I am a member of the college of Winterhold, and I had just discovered the orb in Saarthal before I downloaded the patch. Now the gates to the college are shut and locked, and I cannot gain entry no matter what.

- Before the patch, I initiated the quest "Innocence Lost," but had not yet killed Grelod the Kind. After the patch I have traveled to Riften and slain her, but the objective ticker remains over her dead corpse, and the quest will not update.

- I am a member of the companions, and am currently on the mission "glory of the dead" where my objective is to attend Kodlak's funeral. After downloading the patch, all the companions and the Jarl simply stand around the Skyforge, with Kodlak's body sitting on the logs in the fire, and when I approach the objective and wait, nothing happens. I cannot talk to anyone, either (this person is busy), and the questline will not update. This is not the forever mourning bug.

These next few issues are ones that are not prohibiting me in any way, but are certainly bugs.

- I have finished the main questline, and defeated Alduin, but have not started the civil war quests. During the Peace conference at High Hrothgar, I sided with Ulfric. Now, after the patch, I went to Windhelm to join the Stormcloaks, and Ulfric does not remember our meeting, and refers to me as 'unblooded' even though my character is a Nord. I met him before the patch, and I was refered to correctly as a Nord.

- I am currently infected with werewolf blood ( I do not have Hircine's ring) and can transform and all that, but when I sleep, I gain the well rested perk.

- When fighting someone who is using destructive magic, my shouts will not work.

Apparently the 'visit your new house' misc objective in Solitude DOES clear out if you enter the house through the main door.

I never did that before because the cellar door is much more convenient, but I just happened to use the main door today and the objective finally got cleared from the journal. The one about helping 5 people in that hold is still there, though.

When looking though posts i did not see anything about this. (checked a good amount of the pages) When i started playing from quite some time ago i was having disc read errors. when this stooped my old saves were deleted. (no i did not accidentally delete them). Now i am trying to make a new character and the game keeps freezing my system in the same spot in the cart during the opening. I do not even get to customize my character. this happens just inside or outside the village. Within the area of the gate it seems.

I have removed the game from the storage device that i have my saves on. there is no longer a spot on the device for Skyrim. It is acting like my saves are still there but there is a disc read error. (almost as if the files are invisible). After starting game again and choosing same device the false load option is no longer available. Doing this appears to have fixed the problems. So i will still post this so others can find a solution if they have this problem as well.

I know this is already on the list, but Brynolf won't go to the Ragged Flagon for me. It's really annoying, because everyone says the Thieves Guild questline is awesome. xD

When you start the "Silver hand" quest from the companions, and if you have your own follower after you enter the site for the werewolf ritual, and then came out to whiterun as a werewolf, the follower still follows you, but after that, when you met Aela outside the silver hand hideout, your follower dissapears... forever :(

To the OP:

It's not just whirlwind sprint that darkens the screen, it's ANY shout.

Also: everytime you ask a follower to follow you, their max inventory space seems to drop.

I also recently found a imperial officer's helmet, but it's WORSE than the normal imperial helmet.

I'm still having the animals seeing and reporting crimes/not being recongized as thane issues.

I'm amazed that on the top post, under HOMES, there's no mention of Weapon Stands, Wall Mounts and Mannequins breaking if the user does not buy all upgrades for the House before entering for the first time. The most commonly reported issue concerning purchased houses in Skyrim, the most easily reproducible issue, and also almost certainly responsible several of those other bugs listed under HOMES.

About 15 hours of gaming ago, I killed Sinding as part of Hircine's quest and received Savior's Hide. Yesterday, I was traveling with Delphine to Kynesgrove and encountered him(in werewolf form) on the road between Riverwood and Whiterun.

After civil war quest line is completed (imperial side), no one seems to know the war is over. (Except for Rikke and General Tulius.)
Ulfric and War Bear's bodies are still inside Palace of the KIngs.

When I upgrade the Dual Flurry perk, the perk that makes dual wielding weapons swing faster, to 2/2, when I swing with my right hand the sword just gets stuck in mid swing. It gets stuck over my head like I'm gearing up for the world's strongest power attack, except it never comes down and the sword is forever frozen there until i sheath my weapons. I can not upgrade my dual wielding any further or else I render the game unplayable.

For some reason, after I entered the Arcaneum, my magicka regenerates when i'm holding a spell down. And of course my level 45 has the never ending load screen problem. I love the game but these glitches are really just annoying. :shakehead:

I got 2. maybe help aviod the than rift bug.

I found a way around that bug: Buy the "Honey-" house and then talk to the Jarl; then the choice discussion should be there. If the player leaves to go else where you will not become a thane. So have the money!

In Winterhold i completed 3 quests (2 quests and a favor that didn't light up as a quest) Can't become than because 2/3 quests are completed as there isn't any more "shown quests" at Winterhold

Similar to another post, but different enough to mention:

I conjured Flame Thrall for the first time, then in a dungeon conjured a Frost Thrall (did not banish/kill the Flame thrall and don't have Twin Souls yet), replacing the Flame thrall. Outside of a town I banished the Frost Thrall with a Bound Sword (Oblivion Binding perk active).
Went into town and no one would talk to me other than to tell me I was using "dangerous magic" or something to that effect. I checked Active Effects and found Flame Atronach, and under duration something like 29,000 hours, ticking down slowly.
My only fix was to go back to a save before I conjured the Flame Thrall, and have not used a Thrall spell since.

Side-note- if anyone knows of a correct way to banish a thrall, other than killing it or using a bound sword I'd love to know it. Also, the second Thrall, the Frost Thrall, did not appear under active effects after I banished it. Both thralls showed active when I got rid of the first and conjured the 2nd.

  • I am at the part in the main story line where i need to capture a dragon in Dragonsreach and when talking to the Jarl of Whiterun i convinced him to meet with Ulfric Stormcloak so they could stop the war. But when i went to go talk to Ulfric it wouldn't let me because i had to do another mission for the stormcloaks (i still had to kill the ice wraith and return and talk to Galmar). so i killed the ice wraith but now when i try and return to talk to Galmar he just says a misc. line and it doesn't give me any speech options or anything, which in turn won't let me talk to Ulfric to complete the main story line.
  • i've been forced to kill nearly every guard in Markarth because they all instantly attacked me after helping the prisoners escape from the mines and when i try and pay off my bounty they always go into an infinite loop and nothing i say will stop it
  • when fighting Alduin for the first time he was glitched and i couldn't do any damage to him (including the other dragon helping me and anyone i summoned) so i had to load into a previous spot and it took some time to get back to where i was
  • other misc. glitches: invisible scenery, once when riding a horse my character was walking in air and i was controlling the horse and my character movement at the same time (had to re-load to fix it), falling through the ground (usually mountains), when i placed weapons on the weapon rack in my home they disappeared and i can't get them back and can't use the weapon rack.


I would very much appreciate patch that not only stops these problems from happening but also remedies them for the people that they have already happened to

I purchased all my upgrades for Markath Home and then went inside. After sleeping, my mannequin moved around the room or is sometimes ankle deep in it's own stand. Very Doctor Who-ish or Auton like! I kid you not... after seeing that I haven't let them get hold of anything of mine. (Lest they use it on me in my sleep! :yucky: :yes: )

Also regarding an earlier post about killed things getting stuck back alive (not raised to life by you);

I think it's caused by paralysis spells or enchants. I primarily use soul trap/fire damage knife but also use a sword with paralyze enchant beforehand. Somehow this combo causes people and animals to get back up after they are killed. They look alive, but do idle animations and sounds. You cannot open their inventory or kill them again. The only spell that works is raise dead type spell which eventually reverts them to ash and usually allows them to be looted. But today it happened on a bear and he did not go to ash afterwards and I could not loot stuff from it. Not good if it happens on things with quest items.

Just thought I'd update.

Didn't see anyone else post this, but I am completely stuck.

Quest: Battle for Windhelm

- I have fought my way through the city and have entered the Palace of the Kings. At this point, General Tullius and Rikke will not follow me through the doors to force the surrender of Ulfric. My character just stands by the doors, waiting in awkward silence.
- Saved right before I entered the Palace, but nothing I seem to do within the city forces Tullius to storm through those damn doors.
- Last achievement I need, and this happens? My last save prior to the save I mentioned above was before I finished the main quest, thieves guild, brotherhood, and plenty of other quests.
- Please fix this! I'm stuck in Windhelm for all of eternity, and I want out with my pride and not having to do all of this over again!

Any help (tips, ideas, etc.) would be appreciated!

Block is Glitched. Deflect Arrows gives you maximum Block (85) for all attacks... Which makes shield wall and any other block boosting enchantment obsolete

any word on what they are fixing and what they aren't. I have the markarth guard bug and I tried the Shrine of Talos solution but to no avail because everytime I fast travel to Markarth there are two guards right by the door who keep trying to arrest me. I back out of the convo when they say no one escapes Cidnha Mine and make my way to the Shrine of Talos but there is no one there.

I did finish the Civil War quest for the Stormcloaks so these are stormcloak soldiers trying to arrest me.

I just found the very serious bug that prevents you from leaving Jorrvaskr, It's on the list, I just wanted to confirm that disabling the autosaves does fix it, but the workaround can be more complicated than it seems for consoles. Before realizing there was a suggested fix here, I found this online and it worked:
  • Temporary Solutions include the following:
  • For the PC version:
-You can teleport yourself out of Jorrvaskr by using the console commands to any other cell.
  • For the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions:
-Before leaving Jorrvaskr, disable any auto save functions, then attempt to to leave Jorrvaskr. If done right, you'll be greeted with the black screen (as described above) instead of the game crashing. -Access the Map Screen through the Character Menu. Notice that the map or cursor will not be displayed but only the interface help at the bottom. This is fine. -Next use the left anolog stick to move the cursor until you hear the sound that indicates that the cursor is hovering over a location. -Press activate (default is X on the PS3 or A on the Xbox 360). Then press activate again. Note: Spamming the activate button can help in this situation, but is not highly recommended. -The screen will not change over to the regular loading screen until the actual loading is complete. Give the loading process some time to complete. If after 2 minutes the loading process has not finished (it should not take as nearly as long), then the process failed and you'll have to restart. -If you are unsure as to what sound you're looking for (cursor hovering over a location), access the Map Screen before leaving Jorrvaskr (or anywhere else other than the black screen) and move the cursor over a location and listen to the sounds the game makes. -The cell selected in the Map Screen should be loaded and displayed as soon as the loading is complete. -This only works for locations that have been found. All other rules for fast travelling still apply. -This has been tested and has been confirmed to work.
