XBOX ONE

Post » Wed May 22, 2013 6:38 am

I, for one, am really worried about the future of gaming for serious gamers who can't afford/don't enjoy PC gaming. Whilst the games are cheaper, it's still a higher initial investment. Some people also just like the ease of popping a disc into a machine and it playing, without download times or driver installation or OS incompatibility. There is also something nice about being able to kick back with friends on the sofa and play some split-screen Halo. This is something PC doesn't offer. However, for me at least, all of the next-generation consoles seem extremely lackluster. The Wii U is under-powered and, because its Nintendo and their third-party relations are poor, it won't get great support. The Xbox One seems too focused on multimedia, and I hate the idea of not being able to play second-hand games or play games from other consoles within your household. Microsoft talked about taking Halo round to your friends and playing as a memorable moment, but this will stop that! Then, there's the PS4, and I simply hate their controllers.

This thread is literally a roller coaster for my nerdy teenage emotions. I'll just hold keep the pitchfork by my side until a total confirmation, and if it is real, I'll eat their souls.

Well, I imagine in due time it will have a service where you can watch and tell someone to play the game the way you want!

Itll be like you're actually playing the game!

A great step forward in IMERSUION and INNUVATION.

Never before has a device allowed you to watch someone play a game and dictate how they play it in so much detail.

The misplaced rage is strong with this generation of gamers, it seems.

If this "used game fee" is real not only am I not buying XBOX ONE, but I'll make sure everyone in my social circle doesn't get one either because of it. I might be the only nerdy core gamer in my family, but guess who everybody calls for advice when it comes time to drop those benjamins...

Well it was really uneventful, I like the interface, I like how it is adding all these cool features. But they didn't show enough of what I really care about, the games. Also early reports are not looking good, No backwards compatibility is a confirmed thing. This also does not look good...

I guess the fee isn't really a big deal to me since I haven't bought a used game for nearly 2 years.

During the CoD Ghosts thing, the guy said that the Ghosts are the 'Spartans of the US military'.

Was this s reference to Halo...?

Wait there has never been a device that lets you play a game and dictate how they play it in so much detail? Are you forgetting PC and that on PC you were able to do this for years with a microphone and programs like Team Speak (TS)?

I really think the consoles are officially getting screwed in the future. It is best to use a PC now-a-days and try your best to make things work better... Also... Download times? Do you mean the time it takes to install a game?

Wait... WHAT?? Explain yourself!

On Steam and the PC, it takes time to download the game and install it.

I don't mean why so little on games at the reveal, I mean with the console itself. Why not have just enough CPU power and RAM to run the system and internet linkage and futureproof ability to run game AI and scripting, and spend every other penny on graphics?

Microsoft officially screwed both Windows (Windows 8) and Xbox now... Oh well. I'll happily stick to Windows 7 and Xbox 360 stuff.

I don't understand.. What happens if you're not connected to the internet? It says games are tied to an Xbox Live account, but what if no accounts are connected to xbox live? And is xbox live still going to have a subscription fee?
