You can't even ride dragons.

Right now the idea of the current dragon riding mechanic is debatable.

My question to you is "would you prefer to have the current mechanic instead of another one that is similar to my example of a dragon riding mechanic?

There's always room for improvements, so if they could make it better within the limitations of the consoles, then of course. Control within a small world space per location would have been nice, and doesn't seem like it'd be too far of a stretch. But for me the way it is now is good enough. Its not as bad as people make it out to be. I think people will see that after they get over the lack of control.

Dragon riding is awesome.
......yes it is

But the dragon riding in this game right now in comparison to other dragon riding potential is a little under awesome.

I agree that it is not just plain out bad. It has its uses. But really in comparison to other dragon riding mechanics that could have possibly be used successfully on the Xbox It becomes bad. in most opinions at least

Ok let me slow down and back up a bit. Dragon riding is epic. Just the idea of it makes us cry with aw. But we are not only looking at the combat advantage of it. We are looking at the freedom of it. The idea of being able to travel seemingly impossible distances by being able to fly. Sure you can do it with an airplane. But really it is more majestic with a dragon!!!! Right now Bethesda failed us in that regard. Well unless you consider flying in circles the equivalent of the freedom that could have been

Ok maybe Bethesda did not make it the way it is because they could not make it epic.......maybe they did it for balancing reasons. Because a level 1 cheer tour with a dragon mount can kinda be end game material......

But really its a 1 player game. It would do more good to the game than harm. Really if Bethesda cared so much about balancing they would have edited out the ogma infinium glitch, and the restoration exploit

Well I for one did NOT buy the DLC for dragon riding. I didn't expect free roam nor want it. Do I like it, in this DLC? Oh Yeah!!! Will I use it a lot? Probably not once the novelty has worn off. I am glad it was put in though, because after all, I AM the Dragonborn, and this makes my character feel it. I am thoroughly enjoying this DLC, and for those that don't choose to play it, that's their business. I think they will be depriving themselves of some truly superb content. No game is perfect, but I think Beth did a great job on Dragonborn. Kudos to them.

I admit that the dlc was alright ignoring the dragon ridding. The black book bonuses are a must have at beginning. Side quests are great.

Though it could have been an epic dlc if they gave more effort on the dragon riding......I am not gonna let that go

I think the side quest and all are great for this DLC have been a huge elder schrolls fan since Morrowind and then they said dragon riding would be added i was even more hyped!! turns out they lied to us and you can't even ride a dragon.....so it changed my opinnion to the DLC and it was a huge dissapointment i really hope they add something so we can actually ride the dragons like they promised.....

I did not know that Bethesda said there was dragon riding in this dlc. I saw some one mount a dragon in the trailer, I saw another fly a dragon by the Throat of the World. But I NEVER heard Bethesda say there was dragon riding in it. I heard IGN, Gamespot, etc say there was, but I never heard Bethesda say there was.

Big Difference. So in my book, Bethesda did not lie to anyone.

Still they shouldn't show it off like that in the trailers, everyone believed you could actually fly dragon's and then they dissapointed, and im sorry but this DLC is just not doing it for me,only because of the fact they ruined the main quest and the dragon riding.

Bethesda showed a trailer with some pictures of what the Dragonborn dlc was going to be like. People disappoint themselves by assuming to much. Just because a person is mounting a dragon does not mean anything. Just because a person is on a dragon that is flying past a mountain, does not mean anything.

But people will be people, and someone will hollar, "Look he is riding a dragon! That means we can ride dragons." So then everyone all of a sudden believes that there is dragon riding. There is some riding, but because you cannot "free roam", people now change there attitude. All of a sudden it is things like, That is not fair. We cannot do this. We cannot do that.

Everyone one is different, and everyone has their own opinon. But some people decide that what someone else says must be true, just because they want it to be true. Hope that made sense.

I am not going to judge a dlc on one simple thing. It is alot more than that. It is the adventure, the feel, the dungeons, the quests, the plunder, etc. If you purchased the dlc just because of dragon riding, and do not like it because the dragon riding is not to your likeing, then I feel sorry for you.

I'm actually getting tired of seeing these threads pop up now, the Spears, Dragon Riding... The DLC as a whole is awesome, just shut up and play it. :/

Not to keep repeating what has been in said through 7 pages of text, but I wan tot throw in my opinion/two cents,

This thread is ignorant, you can ride dragons, once you land the dragon, he flies away, he will orbit around you for one in game hour in which you are able to use the shout again to bring him back down to mount. You are able to attack enemies while on the dragon that are visible within it's orbit. You run into a dragon frequently in Skyrim, you have plentiful opportunities to ride & attack on one. There is a reason, has nothing to do with time, money or lazyiness on Bethesda's part for not allowing you control a dragon like a WoW mount.

You want free roam dragon riding there will probably be a PC mod that allows you to tell the dragon to go to point A and B, as controlling a dragon like a air plane would be tacky with how Bethesda designed the dragons in Skyrim. This is not Drakkan or whatever, these dragons operate on ther own AI, dragons already fly stiff on there own as is, you add player control to that and it will be the most tacky thing I have ever seen in a Bethesda game.

There will likely be a mod on PC givin the scripts Bethesda has givin us in Dragonborn to fully control a dragon, but it likely will be by commands only as it should be. Example: "Go to point A or fly x amount of distance" then the dragon likely will orbit that area until issued another command. When you land the dragon could still be givin orders, like stay, follow (follows on land until gap check has been made with player to go back to normal AI), orbit (flies back up & orbits on normal AI), issuing a attack order while the dragon is landed will put him back into normal AI.

All the above is my opinion, if you disagree that is well your opinion.

Al im saying is that they showed it off in the trailer like you can actually ride them, they let their fans believe there was actually something new to the DLC something fresh but what they did is just lame....with all the other DLC's like Dawnguard and Hearthfire they actually showed what you can and cannot do in the trailers and when i was playing them you could even do more! those are fair marketing techniques, but with this DLC its gone downhill.

Sitting on it and do nothing isnt riding it is sitting on a dragon and do nothing, the real definition of riding is (To sit on and move in a given direction) given direction explains enough.

 No, its riding a dragon. Please, do go to a roller coaster ride, and tell everyone who just rode it they never rode a roller coaster because they couldn't steer. They just sat there and did nothing and that's not riding a roller coaster.
