It pains me knowing people complain about such trivial stuff in this game.

Shops reset after what, 3 days?
You don't sell The Elder Scroll to a shop... Also, they hold onto unique items.

Are you kidding me, Bethesda? Who thought it was a good idea to tie, not an optional part, but the whole. bloody. thing. to the MQ? What's that? I can just go talk to the guys at the College? Yeah, the Guild Master of the Thieves Guild just became an apprentice at the College. Thanks for that. Really great idea, it's just like when Brynjolf used to run up to us and force us to start the TG storyline. We all loved that, didn't we?

Please, tell me I can just go get the scroll without starting any quests...

Why'd you join the college, its not necessary to play dawnguard?

Also how else would you expect to find something as powerful as an elder scroll without doing a quest to retrieve it? You don't have to do any of the skyrim main quest line to get it, you can go straight to septimus and do 1 search and retrieve quest...you don't even have to officially be the dragonborn yet to do that quest so how would that break RP for you?

Its sounds like you're just reaching for crap to complain about because someone didn't just hand you all 3 scrolls during the dawnguard quests....you have to actually put in some effort to get any important item in the game so i don't understand your complaint

I just don't even know what to say. In theory, attaching the DLC to the rest of the world is great. Except for the fact that, unless you've already done the MQ on your character (or are a mage), it forces you to do something you don't want to do. I thought the whole point of an open-world game was freedom of choice?

For the love of God, don't force us into something we might not want to do in the next DLC. Connect it to the rest of Skyrim so that it feels like it belongs, but don't pull some asinine stunt and pigeonhole us into a certain path.

Please, tell me I can just go get the scroll without starting any quests... I'll make up a reason for how he knew, and weave it into my RP, but I just don't want to go power through the MQ I haven't touched yet, miss most everything just so I can finish Dawnguard, nor do I want to join the College. I don't want the guards referring to me as that guy from the College, I don't want the "First Lessons" quest in my log.

To sum up my entire post; :swear:

So what if you have to interact with the college, you don't have to do any of there quests so get over it. You people are so damn dramatic its disgusting.

You can just ask a carriage driver about it, too. If you're talking about the blood scroll. He charges you something like 245g if you don't pass the speech check. You never even have to go near the college. They mention that bartenders and carriage drivers might know something about the moth priest. I think that's the part you're talking about. If not, then I insert foot into mouth immediately. :P

How did you know about that on your first playthrough? People are complaining because they don't know it's an option to do that, obviously.

If you don't know whether such an option is available or not, you shouldn't be complaining that it ISN'T available.

Just because she refers to you as an apprentice to when you first enter the college doesn't mean you have to rp it. She doesn't shove it down your throat, and you don't have to do anything beyond talk to Faralda at the entrance. Then, you just go talk to the guy or the library guy. And yes, you have to get the dragon scroll by doing one quest. I think you're over reacting.

I'm confused. Are you complaining about having to have the Dragon Elder Scroll from the Main Quest to proceed through the Dawnguard questline?

If so, then you are asking Bethesda to take into consideration the .001% of people that did not complete the Main Quest by now? If you chose not to complete the Main Quest, why would you be interested in completing the DLC? Do you only have one Skyrim character? If you have only one character, then you are denying yourself the full game experience. But hey, it's your 60 (or 80) bucks, I guess you can do whatever you want.

Naw. Close but not quite.

He's complaining because he thinks he has to go through the MQ in order to get the Elder Scroll (Dragon), and he doesn't want to do that.

Never mind the alternate route of doing a Daedric Quest, but then the complaint switched over that he's upset because there was no prompt to go do a very secretive quest from a Daedric Prince that has a Sphere of Influence over Secrets and Hidden/Forbidden Knowledge.

That's what we're up against... :D

Damn. I almost had it! Can someone make a flowchart for me so I can follow the complaint timeline?

So that is his beef? Shame on you Bethesda, for assuming that people that bought DLC for your game would have actually played the game!!!

Are you telling me you don't want to cast a single freaking spell...? I mean I understand for roleplaying purposes, but even then, its not a huge deal. They aren't asking you to get 100 Illusion or something...

Okay from the roleplaying standpoint I understand not wanting to cast a spell, even once, simply because maybe he's playing someone that shuns magic entirely. I have one such character.

However, the thing is that you DON'T have to cast a single spell to get the scroll. I know I didn't.

Does anyone ever RP a character that shuns weapons and armors. because I only ever hear about shunning magic.

Or you know you before you actually went to the college you could have looked it up on the internet or the forums for another way if you didn't wanna be known as a Mage now theres a great idea people should think more before they ask or do anything.

*Facehoof* You do know you can get the Elder Scroll (Dragon) just by going to that crazy mage guy... I ALWAYS get the Scroll before even touching the MQ and the College (I get the Scroll while I'm down there.. My main goal was to get that one Daedric Book)..

So basicly, this thread is useless since you are just complaining about something that isn't true... Not trying to be mean here.

Wow... just... wow. Doesnt this make you want to just take a taxi down to bethesda studios and march around with complaint signs? Hopefully not but that would be hilarious to watch.

Protest #1: We need jobs!
Protest #2: We need healthcare!
Protest #3: We want our fictional characters in an imaginary world to have more options!

Arent there more important things to whine about?

 ..... GET OUT.

C'mon guys. Quite making fun of the milk drinker. It's not his fault that he couldn't complete the main quest of the game that came out at least half a year ago

Wow... Leave the guy alone, he does have a point, and that point is Beth shoves certain content down your throat ruining RP, what about the Stones of Barenziah? Forced to join the Thieves Guild for that one, but not before Brynjolf jumps on you the first second you enter Riften anyway, but i guess COD kiddies don't know what RP means.
Oblivion was more free then Skyrim, at least you didn't have people jumping on you forcing you to join their guild.
