More perks than you can get with a single character I'm afraid...

Ok, can someone help me here? I am thinking of giving my character, all of the Archery, 1h, Destruction, Restoration, Heavy Armour, Smithing and Speech perks, how much would this be?

All? Including ranks? Lets see..

Every Archery Perk: 16

Every One-Handed Perk: 21

Every Destruction Perk: 17

Every Heavy Armor Perk: 11

Every Restoration Perk: 13

Every Smithing Perk: 19

Every Speech Perk: 13

That's 110 perks. .

Sourcehttp://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Skills Keep in mind some of these tree's are incomplete so it may be more.

I'm expecting Regeneration to be a prerequisite for Respite, as they are both linked to the function of healing spells. Recovery is a passive boost so I can see that being on an offshoot from Apprentice Restoration.

Actually according to this thread.
http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1250101-layout-of-perk-trees/page__st__60

The order for it is Novice-->Recovery-->Avoid Death.

Hows this for a build?

Heavy Armour: Juggernaut (5) + Well Fitted (1) + Tower of Strength (1) + Matching Set (1) + Reflect Blows (1) = 9

Smithing: Stee Smithingl (1) + Arcane Blacksmith (1) + Dwarven Smithing (1) + Orcish Smithing (1) + Ebony Smithing (1) + Daedric Smithing (1) + Dragon Armour Smithing (2) = 8

One Handed: Armsman (5) + Bladesman (3) = 8

Archery: Overdraw (5) + Eagle Eye (1) + Powershot (1) + Quick Shot (1) + Bullseye (1) = 9

Restoration: Novice Restoration (1) + Apprentice Restoration (1) + Adept Restoration (1) + Expert Restoration (1) = Master Restoration (1) + Respite (1) = 6

Destruction: Novice Destruction (1) + Apprentice Destruction (1) + Adept Destruction (1) + Expert Destruction (1) = Master Destruction (1) + Augumented Flames (1) + Intense Flames (1) + Augumented Freeze (1) + Deep Freeze (1) = 9

Overall=49

Is this ok, or should I saw a couple of Destruction perks for Restoration ones?

I think its fine; although you might wanna get rid of intense flames it makes enemies run if their at 10% which might get annoying.. Unless you want them to run away that is. If you get a couple of free points you might wanna pick up recovery, and avoid death.

Interesting Sugar Rush, I believe picking smithing and enchanting together will be an excellent and powerful choice.

I'm going to have my perk points mixed between 1 handed, Destruction and Enchanting as I level. Not sure which perks I will get yet though.

I'm not really into warrior type builds but I really like this one. Even though you probably won't cast much magic, if any; I like that you have so many points in enchantment, and smithing.

I can see your character running around in ridiculously ornate armor, and wielding a flaming sword.
Interesting Sugar Rush, I believe picking smithing and enchanting together will be an excellent and powerful choice.

Haha, yea. That is the idea I have. I want to get the utmost from my gear beyond anything else, so I am a walking, glittering wall of dragon-born. I will max the armour from Heavy Armour, then increase it with Smithing, then enchant my custom armour with the best runic protection I can. Behind my shield I shall be untouchable (enchant the armour with resistances to complement elemental protection), reaching out to deliver well timed power attacks! Mwa ha ha ha!

Heavy Armour: Juggernaut (5) + Well Fitted (1) + Tower of Strength (1) + Matching Set (1) + Reflect Blows (1) = 9

Smithing: Stee Smithingl (1) + Arcane Blacksmith (1) + Dwarven Smithing (1) + Orcish Smithing (1) + Ebony Smithing (1) + Daedric Smithing (1) + Dragon Armour Smithing (2) = 8

One Handed: Armsman (5) + Bladesman (3) = 8

Archery: Overdraw (5) + Eagle Eye (1) + Powershot (1) + Quick Shot (1) + Bullseye (1) = 9

Restoration: Novice Restoration (1) + Apprentice Restoration (1) + Adept Restoration (1) + Expert Restoration (1) + Master Restoration (1) + Respite (1) + Recovery (2) + Avoid Death (1)= 9

Destruction: Novice Destruction (1) + Apprentice Destruction (1) + Adept Destruction (1) + Expert Destruction (1) + Master Destruction (1) + Augumented Fire (1) = 6

I actually like this idea. I would probably go for a Destruction as a primary range and 1H for primary melee, but that is just personal taste. This looks really solid. If I decide I like magic to much to pass up, I may use something very much like this ^_^

With Alchemy released, I kind of want to include some perks in it. At least 2, to increase healing effects, although I am not sure how needed it is. I guess I will give up 1 1H perk and 1 Archery perk (one of the ranks I think) if I find myself really needing health potions.

Yeah, your right, I was just thinking of switching archery for enchancting and using destruction as my primary range attack. I'll do it tommorow anyway its late. Glad you like it though

I haven't looked at skill tree layouts yer so I'm not sure how it's going to go. But based on what I've seen between One Handed, Security, Stealth, Speech, Illusion, Light Armor alone I'm going to be a bit spread out in Perks.

Do we know that the final perk number is 49/50, or was it raised to a higher number like 70?

I still hold out a little hope for the latter. 50 perks is not enough to max out 4 skill trees .... :(

We have been told there is a soft cap at level 50, meaning 49 base perks. We have also been told that after level 50 the game is not balanced, and so it seems rather pointless to me to build a character after that point because you would be strong enough to make choices not matter, and the amount of effort would be far, far higher. As such, I am interested in builds looking at the natural 49 perk limit.

Here is the one I am looking at currently. The idea is a heavily armoured warrior who can take a beating:

Heavy Armour: Juggernaut (5) + Well Fitted (1) + Tower of Strength (1) + Matching Set (1) + Reflect Blows (1) = 9

Block: Shield Wall (5) + Deflect Arrows (1) + Elemental Protection (1) = 7

Smithing: Steal (1) + Arcane Blacksmith (1) + Dwarven Smithing (1) + Orcish Smithing (1) + Ebony Smithing (1) + Daedric Smithing (1) + Dragon Armour Smithing (2) = 8

Enchanting: Enchanter (5) + Insightful Enchanter (1) + Corpus Enchanter (1) + Extra Effect (1) = 8

One Handed: Armsman (5) + Bladesman (3) = 8

Archery: Overdraw (5) + Eagle Eye (1) + Powershot (1) + Quick Shot (1) + Bullseye (1)

I may make room for some Alchemy perks depending on its tree, but this covers what I want. I will have total control over my armour, making it and enchanting it my self to the highest degree. I will master the defensive aspects of Heavy Armour and Blocking, and the pure offensive aspects of One Handed and Archery. I only really have Archery because I think a range attack is needed, that may be dropped once in game.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on your builds?

You already have enchant, use a staff for your ranged attack, then dump into alchemy... at least that is what I am doing.

Level 50 is the soft cap, and you start at level 1, so that is 49 level ups of perks for you to choose before you hit that cap. You can go beyond that, but BGS has said the exp gained through skill level ups is far reduced, making the hard cap around level 70 and also making it a big grind to get there. What's more, the game is balanced up to level 50, so I kinda presume enemies will not get much stronger, nothing new, etc.

You already have enchant, use a staff for your ranged attack, then dump into alchemy... at least that is what I am doing.

:o  Why did I completly forget staves. Oh my, thank you for this! Hah, yea, I think I am going to do that as well. I wonder if the double enchanting perk applies to staves as well? Hah once more! Frees up 9 perks. :twirl:

Totally agree with this - really tough to choose

I think I'll focus mainly on 5 skills though

I think attributes will be the ohh Sh*t moment for alot of people... When they realize their spellswords and battlemages are spread to thing in attributes...

This is my final build of all the perks I KNOW I want. The number after each perk is what level I can get it. This is for my own personal reference. Also, my total is over 49... because you get perks after lvl 50, and I'll be maxing eventually. I'll have every perk except the ones in Sneak first... that way I have all the main ones I want before I hit level 50. As you can see i'm more concerned about non combat (Speech, Lockpick, Pickpocket), but am still excited about destruction.

Destruction: 10 Perks
Novice: 0 – Apprentice: 25 – Adept: 50 – Expert: 75 – Master: 100
Dual Casting: 20 – Impact: 40
Augmented Shock: 30 x 2 Ranks – Disintegrate: 70

Restoration: 9 Perks
Novice: 0 – Apprentice: 25 – Adept: 50 – Expert: 75 – Master: 100
Recovery: 30 x 2 Ranks
Regeneration: 20 – Necromage: 70

Speech: 13 Perks
Haggling: x 5 Ranks
Allure: 30 – Merchant: 50 – Investor: 70 – Fence: 90 – Master Trader: 100
Bribery: 30 – Persuasian: 50 – Intimidation: 70

Lockpicking: 11 Perks
Novice: 0 – Apprentice: 25 – Adept: 50 – Expert: 75 – Master: 100
Quick Hands: 40 – Wax Key: 50
Golden Touch: 60 – Treasure Hunter: 70
Locksmith: 80 – Unbreakable: 100

Pickpocket: 3 Perks
Lightfingers: x 1 Rank – Night Thief: 30 – Extra Pockets: 50

Sneak: 5 Perks
Stealth: x 5 Ranks

After seeing the one-handed perks, I'm having a tough time deciding between mace axe or sword. I'm playing a Nord paladin (Eddard Stark-esque) for my first playthrough and was originally going to pick the stereotypical sword + shield. Now, I think that maces would be better because of the ignore armor perk.

That's not to mention still conflicted over 2-handed or 1-handed.
