I begun fairly ambivalent with them, then begun to support them and their rebellion...

Now I hate them, for how they led to what Snow Elves became, they're not the only group to blame, but they're the only live ones, so I hate them a lot.

How do others feel about them?

Good old fashioned country folk, with a twist of savage, honorable warrior about them. All in all, nice guys. Just wish they were more tolerant with Argonians and Redgurads.

I never liked the Nords.

I like to think of at least one of my Nord characters as a descendant of an Imperial blacksmith and a woman with Skaal ancestors. In both cases, he's not a Skyrim type of Nord. Hell, hardly any Nords from past games are like the Skyrim Nords. They're a pretty versatile race. Barbarians, "God haters", Knight of the Nine, Emperors, you name it...

I love the Nords, always have, always will. I am also a strong Stormcloak supporter. And I'm guessing you don't know the full story about the Falmer, otherwise you would understand that they got what was coming to them.

When the first Nord settlers came from Atmora, they coexisted with the Snow Elves peacefully. Upon discovering the Eye of Magnus within Saarthal, a major concern was brought up: what to do with all that power. The Nords wanted to share it, but the Snow Elves didn't trust them, and wanted to keep it for themselves. They attacked the Nords, slaughtering all but three of them: Ysgramor and his two sons. Ysgramor and his sons fled back to Atmora, and later returned to Skyrim with the 500 Companions. They waged a long and bloody war against the Snow Elves, eventually driving them Underground. The Snow Elves sought assistance from the Dwemer, who did not trust any other races. The Dwemer integrated a poisonous mushroom into the Snow Elves' diet. This eventually made them blind and even their children blind. Thus, the Falmer were born. The Dwemer used them as slaves and tortured them. The Falmer were eventually going to rebel, but then the Dwemer mysteriously vanished from the face of Nirn.

If it's anyone you should be mad at for what happened to the Snow Elves, it should be the Snow Elves themselves and the Dwemer.

What are Skaals?

Nords really piss me off, because they're "Skyrim belongs to the Nords."

No it belongs to Snow Elves as ConnivingEagle lore pointed out.

I don't mind the Nords as a whole, but these "Skyrim is for the Nords" types are simply bigoted morons. They're just as bad as the Thalmor.

"Skyrim for the Nords!" or "Skyrim belongs to the Nords," is the Stormcloak motto. It doesn't mean that other races aren't allowed in Skyrim. It means Nords should be the ones deciding Skyrim's future, not Elves or their Imperial puppets. And it did belong to the Snow Elves, but unfortunatley they had a "Skyrim is only for the Snow Elves!" mentality, and they got their asses kicked for it.

This could have all been avoided if the groups could have destroyed the artefact. I still think Nords are reprehensible and snow elves were given rotten end of the stick.

The Nords in Bloodmoon. They're more Shaman like (some are mages), and have a different pantheon (with Shor at the top).

I have decided I like them.

I've always loved Nords and their culture. That isn't to say their culture is perfect, but I still like it.

Nords are racists that hate other races. And Nords think that they are better then others (Falkearth general goods strore brother,Windhelm racism against argonians and dark elfs etc)

I hate nords even more then altmers.

One nord guy in Falkearth saying that all non-nords should get the heck out from Skyrim, and insulting your race if you are dunmer.

I like all races expect altmers and nords.

2) Argonians and Dunmers having alot trouble with nordic racism.

3) Ulfric doesnt have Argonian commanders (Empire used to have Argonian/Khajit commanders in previus TES games)

I thought Ysgramor was the first human to come to Tamriel and he was Nedic not Nord, which was where all types of men stemmed from. Also the Snow Elves cast the first stone and killed most of the men that came first.

My thoughts on current Nords though are they're cool. Each race has good history and bad history. I always play as a Nord, but that's because they were taller than other races and I'm tall in real life, I don't choose a race because of they're back story. I usually play rpgs as if I myself am the character, I don't roleplay, but sometimes I will try to be a towns person when I get bored.

arrogant and naive. They have a justified reason to fight, but their arrogance prevents them from actually thinking..."What would happen if we did this?". Or "It might be better for us NOrds, but for the rest of Tamerial?"

Random Skyrim nord npc that i met yesterday

Bolund is a Stormcloak, saying to non-Nord characters, "I can't believe we let provincials like you wander Skyrim..."
He also making other racist comments on player.

Both he and his brother are Stromcloaks and his brother is still nice to you. And if you're playing a Nord, then they're both all smiles.
It's funny that in my language "bolond" (not that far off from bound) means mad.

As in real life, how you feel about an entire race of peoples is dependent on how broad a view you take to examine them. If you focus on individuals and their actions, you will come to hate most races. if you look at certain individuals as just that, and realize the bulk of humanity (or mer also in this case) are just trying to get through life as best they can, and rule out a bad apple as a bad apple then ou tend not to hate anyone so much.

Now in regards to specific things in skyrims, the current lore suggests the leadership of the thalmor are the true villains here. then again, the government and other individuals in focus there are still the "bad apples". It is certainly no anomoly to have a movment started by a few gain huge momentum among the masses, whom then realize down the road the error of thier ways, and even in this there are many whom decide to stay away from the mass movement. IRL: look at confederate vs union, WW2 germany, etc. Small groups of bad apples gain favor and create a huge conflict that involves many. Certainly not every soldier is in it just for the credo of their leadership. Theres money and opportunity to be had during war, not just political gain.


TLDR version: yeah nords are cool, depends who you talk to.

The Falmer were the first to attack the Nordic colonists at Saarthal.
The Nords retaliated and drove the Falmer out of Skyrim's surface and out of the province or under ground.

The Dwemer then enslaved them.

You take up for the Falmer even though they swung first and hate the Nords for coming on top. It is ridiculous and almost comical how you claim to have developed hate for the Nords for defending themselves and their future generations. I know for a fact that if your people were attacked then you would sure as hell dominate the attackers to ensure your future safety.

In a real-world scenario, the Falmer are the Japanese and the time is WWII. The Nords are Americans in the Pacific. Guess what happened there?

As others have said, the snow elves attacked Nords first.

Also read http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Fall_of_the_Snow_Prince. They were so impressed by the Falmer prince's valor in battle that they interred him with honor in a Nord barrow. That was how the elves ended up losing against Ysgramor. The Nords paid a heavy price, so it should be more understandable why they drove the Falmer off.

Oh, and I love the Nords. Always have.

Bandits and some Nord followers will yell it, too, and they're not necessarily Stormcloaks. I think it is just a general battle cry.

The Nords have been defending their territory for a long time. People can call that racism if they want I guess. Kind of silly.
