Generally speaking I quite like Nords.

Alvor, when asked about his allegiance says that Loyalty and Honour are the two things most important to a 'true' Nord ("Nords have never been fair weather friends!"). That, I think, really is how all Nords (Stormcloak included) see themselves. The difference is in how they apply those rules. Alvor and his ilk believe that there is honour in loyalty while Stormcloaks believe that loyalty is earned through honour. For a Xenophobic Nord there is no honour in associating yourself with those whom they believe to be without honour (magic users, or surrenderers), but for an Imperial Nord the honour is in staying loyal in their hour of need, or in the face of a difference of opinion.

That's just my reading of it. I'm not really a fan of Stormcloaks (though Ulfric's "I Fight!" speech is really good) as they come off as a bit religious extremist to someone raised in an intensely secular environment.

I don't like Nords, even when I played one they made me feel uncomfortable. Seems as if they're a bunch of ignorants stuck with the deep down ground in opinion that they're truly something special. They're buried in the belief of their outdated traditions.

Nords are boring. Their so called culture is an insult to real life Scandinavian history. Bethesda just picked up on the age old fantasy stereotype of mentally-challenged fair-haired barbarians. And now some suburban American kid will start thinking real Scandinavians are really like that...

My default stance is to dislike the race living in the place where a TES game takes place. In Oblivion, I wouldn't ever have played as an Imperial. In Morrowind, I loathed the Dunmer. So, since I'm playing Skyrim now, it's sort of obvious that I dislike the Nords now.

Once in another area of Tamriel in another installment of the TES universe, I usually relax some more - at least until the point that I try and roll a visually pleasing member of a formerly despised race.


Anyway... what do I think of the Nords now that I didn't think of them before? I don't know, really. They're still a race suitable for warrior characters mostly, too tall to feel comfortable to play as, and they shouldn't have picked intelligence as their dump stat.

I like the Nords, and their history doesn't bother me. If i was to take issue with their past and current actions, then i would also need to hate on all the other races to.

Just like in real life, there's enough sin to go around.

I think some are racist jerks, the others i view as pretty normal traditional people so cant hold much against alot fo them.

and lets not forget there fighting against the empire so that provokes me to love them a little, down with the empire!!

I dig the barbarian thing, as far as strictly gaming concerns go (light armors, 2handers). I always like the combination of speed and burst damage, in any game.

Though i don't play them, i LOVE the Nords, especially in Skyrim. And especially those in Windhelm.

They are strong warriors, proud of their elders, ready to die to defend their land, culture and race. They don't fear to tell the truth about the invaders of their country. Hail to the Nords !

For sure, but I haven't been too fond of Nords ever since Morrowind. They're quite... obtuse in their methods to attain glory and conquest.

The same could be said about the Altmer and Dunmer, but they're elves so I can understand why I may see their views to be radical.

Skyrim, sadly, has only increased my dislike of the Nordic people's ideals, though it isn't stopping me from playing one currently.

The snow elves tried to genocide the Nords. Falmer can blame themselves imo.

I generally tend to dislike warrior races but I do not hate the entire race because of the actions of a few. I still like High Elves even though they are Thalmor. What I hate are Nords like Ulfric, his Stormcloaks, and their ignorant supporters. Those are the kind of people who drove the Bretons to become insane Forsworn. I don't really hate any races, I only look at racial abilities and the Nord's abilities are not appealing to me in anyway.

My first character in Oblivion and my "quintessential" dovahkiin are both Nord battle mages. The Nords have a shaman tradition just like the orcs also do. They're only a "warrior race" if you choose to play like that. In Skyrim I had a Nord thief, too.

Nah, I got no interest in warrior races. As I said the abilities aren't appealing.

I don't get where the Nazi Germany thing comes from. Many nords are pro-Nord, true, but they do not want to rule the world or exterminate everyone that is not a Nord. The most extreme Nords want only Nords in Skyrim, but I have never seen any hint of even them being bothered with other races living in other provinces. If anyone resemble the Nazis it is the Thalmor.

Exactly.Thats what i mean Well The bonus points in some skills doesnt matter to me,i dont care much about it. I want to create a mage nord sometime. Just becouse it sounds cool,

Well this seems to resemble what the Nazis did to the Jewish people. Ulfric sees Nords as the master race(Aryan). They may not be doing anything that bad yet but whats stopping him from doing it once he is in power? Once he is in power he is going to either kill or enslave all non Nords.
