Your favorite type of beer?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 3:51 am

I have a question for those in the Southern USA, and outside the USA. Do you guys have access to Labatt? (It's not very good, I'm just curious about their range).

Labatt was brewed under license in the UK for a while but I haven't seen it for a couple of years. It was horrible but most foriegn beers brewed under license were. They just took the name and brewed a bog standard lager.

Don't drink much beer. Used to like Newcastle Brown, Brains Dark, and Belhaven 80 Shillings (used to live about 10 miles from the Belhaven brewery).
Nowadays I mostly drink Stella Artois or Peroni Nastro Azzurro if I drink beer.

Labatt=Molson=Budweiser=Corona=Heineken=Sapporo=Miller.. and so on. Same generic beer brewed with garbage crap doody.

Newcastle wasn't bad as far as bottled ales go. I'd love to taste it on tap.

What's interesting is there's beers like Gordon Biersch that tastes like garbage canned or bottled but on tap tastes awesome.

Guinness is okay, like Newcastle.. Extra Stout is slightly better tasting.

Porter's nice. Meantime do a particularly good one, I think, though I think I get their porter and London stout mixed up.

Don't care too much for beer, but Lionshead, which is brewed about five minutes from my house, is pretty damn good.

Didn't try it until St. Patrick's Day. Was missing out.

Is it okay that I have loads of favorite beers? I like Spitfire and Kentish ales in general for the hoppy goodness, Woodfordes Wherry because it's [censored] lush, London Pride for the same reason and this beer from a pub near Norwich station which has to be tasted to see just now amazing it really is.

I'm too young to drink but I will not get into alcohol at all; not really something I wanna get into.. Please remember I do understand why people like it and ain't surprise... But what I don't understand is why people go out and get drunk?

That's like saying 'why do people have six if not for reproduction'. The awnser is the same : it's [censored] fun.

Before anything gets started, I am all for alcohol since it is your choice to drink it but I am against it when it over-drink it and get drunk cause this creates a lot of problems....I know this for sure...

Not nessecarily. I've gotten drunk loads of times and done some stupid stuff, sure but that stupid stuff gives you tons to talk about the next day.

If I had a choice I'd probably only drink wine, but we can't have everything.

Wine & beer; :yuck: Straight spirits is the way to go man. :bunny:

For me it really depends on the time of year and activity.

Summer = Ranger IPA
Fall = Lager (Molson, Yuengling)
Winter = Porter, Black and tan (Yuengling, Fuller's, Guinness at times)
Spring = Pilsner (Heineken, Becks)

On a budget = PBR

Yeah we get it here. Fairly trashy stuff as an "import" along the same lines as Fosters. I see why Canada and Australia export this stuff... :P

I'm not big on beer, I prefer rum or whiskey but I do have a top three preferences depending on how much I'm willing to spend. Gulden Draak is an imported Dutch beer, very expensive and tastes like liquid gold... then there's Rolling Rock which has a great subtle flavor but is a little pricier than the average beer. If I'm just looking for cheap then I go with Pabst Blue Ribbon, doesn't taste completely like piss and it's better than something like Coors or Budweiser.

Addendum: I daresay Miller High Life is almost a suitable alternative to Rolling Rock, it's really not bad.

I personally don't really have a favourite. Actually, although I do have preferred beers, I like to try different ones, when I can

Here are some I like:
  • Amsterdam Blonde
  • Keith's
  • Canadian
  • Heineken
Darnit, I'm pretty conventional, :(

Works great for those girly parties too, my wife loves spirits.

I agree, getting drunk can be fun, just not going that extra mile where puking begins. Generally I stop when I notice myself paying too much attention to how I walk, which usually isn't all that straight, but normally I don't get that drunk anyways. Still, it's fun.

I really like Guinness but am on a diet so it's off the cards.

Although I do the really annoying girlfriend thing of ordering a Gin and Tonic then drinking some of my boyfriends pint while he's in the loo/looking away. :devil:

It's not technically a 'beer' but I love Guinness. Unfortunately, I can really only enjoy it when it comes from a legitimate tap - that store stuff just doesn't cut it (doesn't matter if it's bottle, can, if it's got widgets or not all the store stuff tastes like garbage to me).

I don't go to the bar a lot though, so I often just grab a sixer of Bud Light. Which is, when you think about it, a big step down.

I didn't think so either but when I worked for Diageo (who own Guinness) they always described it as a beer. :)

Nobody with taste buds drinks fosters here, funny thing is they also make what they call a boutique beer called crown lager, its basically relabelled fosters and morons drink it down and love it because they think its different, in the past fosters used to be an excellent beer, but then they changed it for the foreign market, mostly the U.S. and England, England i have no idea since they have real beer there.

Blue Moon
Guinness (with a splash of Bailey's)

I'm also partial to several types available from the Great Lakes Brewing Company, a local brewery in the Great Lakes region of the US.

Carlsberg and Foster's. I'm sure these are looked down upon by lager snobs, but [censored] you they're delicious.

Also partial to a Corona just because they're so light and easy to drink, without being quite as girly as WKD.
