Your favorite type of beer?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 2:27 am

So I'm sitting back and relaxing tonight, on the forums of course. I'm enjoying 1 pint 8 fl. oz Bud Light right now. I mostly drink Yuengling or Heineken. I also enjoy a couple bottles of Blue Moon or Pabst Blue Ribbon.

So what type of beer do you prefer?

I don't do a lot of lagers. When I do it's usually High Life or Stella Artois. Edit: High Life is technically a pilsner, but I tend to lump it in with the other big 3 domestic yellers.

Really, though, I like most kinds of beer provided they have some flavor. Lately it's been mostly Good Island Green Line IPA, Goose Island Matilda, Three Floyds Gumballhead, Magic Hat #9, and Blue Moon (with an orange slice, of course).

I just got a subscription to the microbrew of the month club for my birthday. Looking forward to my first 12.

I honestly haven't found any beers that I'm particularly fond of yet, but I've still got time :D. From what I have tried though, Red Stripe definitely tasted the best to me, and I'm not one to shy away from a Guinness every now and then.

Bud Light's good.
Amberbock is also good.
Corona's not very good but my parents buy it in abundance because it's cheap, so...

If I had a choice I'd probably only drink wine, but we can't have everything.

I'm not picky either. I don't care what type of beer is around, I'll drink it. But if I had to choose, I pick out a good tasting beer. After my 3rd or 4th beer it just starts tasting like salty water. I also think it's funny when people say they drink for taste. Pffft.

Good beer does actually taste good to me. I'd rather have a Gumballhead than a Coke any day. I guess it's just an acquired taste. I actually drink beer because I like it rather than just to feel the effects of alcohol.

That said, Bud Light starts out tasting like salty water to me and pretty much stays like that for the duration.

Keystone, blahhhh.

Indeed. But for an entire hockey team, price is an issue and there is something somewhat satisfying about drinking luke-warm Keystone after a game

Well what I mean is that people drinking beer are drinking either to relax or get wasted. But I can understand drinking what tastes best of the alcoholic beverages offered.

I mostly drink lagers, most often scandinavian ones. I've been to Newcastle several times (since I'm a Newcastle United fan) and just recently found some Newcastle brown ale at a store home here. It cost a fortune here but it's great, and it makes me feel like a Newcastle patriot (even though I'm norwegian) :P.

I drink all kinds of beers though, but unfortunately I can't always remember what I actually drank.. But I've learned that some beers are best enjoyed when you're relaxing (be it home or out) watching a game of football or whatever. I do tend to drink beer for the taste, if I want to get wasted I'd just drink the hard stuff.

I typically prefer Belgian style ales. Grimbergen tends to be my usual go to as my local grocery store stocks it and it's a good combination of taste and price. Others I enjoy quite a bit are Kwak, La Trappe (mostly the quad), and Gulden Draak. Of course, whenever I'm out at a restaurant or pub I'm always on the look-out for interesting new beers to try as well- I have a particular fondness for Imperial stouts, although really good ones can be tough to find. I tend to not be a fan of IPAs or other more bitter beers (which puts me off many of the microbrews here in the states, as they really seem to like piling on the hops), but occasionally there are some that balance the hops with spice or other flavors that works out nicely (I've really been enjoying the current seasonal brew from Sierra Nevada, despite it being fairly hoppy).

I tend to drink amber ales, but my favorites would easily be stouts. The darker the brew, the better. Too bad for me that also translates to more expensive (and screw Guinness, it's the miller light of stouts).

However, I like most types of beer anyway. However, I just cannot stand can beer. If I want something just to crack open after a day, I'll grab a negra modelo.

Hardly. There are tons of infinitely better stouts out there, and to claim Guinness as some sort of god stout is completely and utterly wrong.

Yuengling is delicious. If I'm trying to drink to get drunk, I'll have Rolling Rock. If I'm drinking on a budget, Miller High Life.
