Your reaction the first time you saw an Oblivion gate.

I just looked up at it, saved, gulped and whispered "Let's Party" before jumping in. :P

It was hell, but it was worth it. :mohawk:

I do not remember having much of a reaction... Walking up to an OB gate was not really a bid deal until OOO and FCOM came into the picture...then the apprehension showed up...:)

sorry but how do OOO effect the oblivion gates? because im thinking of getting it

but anyway it looked intimidating at lower levels

I thought Oblivion is a missed oportunity by Bethesda: The first time you see an oblivion gate, you are stunned, but after you close about a dozen of them, you are sick and tired of them and you never want to see another one ever again. While the introduction to them at Kavach is impressive, bethesda should have made more of an effort to try to instil some variety in the relm

After exiting it the first time my Dark Elf kept saying "What has been seen cannot be unseen." My Imperial after closing the first one, and then the one near Bravil "I [censored] hate oblivion gates."

I basically knew what to expect from them because I'd been anticipating, and reading everything I could about the game before it came out, so I recognized what it was. I was nervous about the difficulty and excited to see what lie beyond, and I think I crept through it instead of activating it initially also.

I was like, "Oh no it's a Diablo portal to hell. I don't think I can expect much from this game, story-wise." And sure enough, the main storyline turned out to be hackneyed junk compared to Morrowind's main storyline. But all the mods and alternate storylines kept me going.

Then finally the game redeemed itself somewhat because of the Shivering Isles storyline. Shivering Isles was fantastic. It should have been made as long as the Cyrodil story.

But seriously, portals to a hellish dimension are overused. If I came across one in real life, I'd yawn and walk away.

Oh ho ho ho. I also thought all I had to do was just walk through it at first. Then I noticed that that you had to "enter" it. But, I didn't want to because it looked scary. xD

I was scared witless. I went into it, rushed through the gate as fast as possible and breathed a sigh of relief after doing it. I never touched an oblivion gate for around a year after that because i was too frightened to do them.

Good times. Now they're just tedious

I don't know if I could say I was scared, but I do know that the very first time, I stayed in sneak mode the entire time.

Haven't played Dead Space, but Doom 3 was the scariest game I've ever played. With a good graphics card and sound system and a dark room, you will piss your pants.

Gates to Aesgaard Episode 1 scared the mess out of me, but I understand I am a lightweight... Jurassic Park does not scare me anymore though...I don't think...

Blademage using sword-n-board.

[Stands in front of it staring]
[drinks a bunch of buff potions, casts a few buff spells, okaaaay ready...]
[...DAMN!! No repair hammers]
[runs back to Skingrad for more potions and hammers gathering flax for restore magicka potions along the way]
[you wanna charge WHAT for that!?!]
[stays in town overnight *aquiring* gold and buying potions and hammers]
[runs back to oblivion gate]
[buffs with potions and spells, AGAIN]
[runs, sneaking, with sword drawn through gate]
[WTF!!! is this one a dud!?!?!?!]
[turns around running through very center of gate]
[turns around AGAIN and activates gate, oh, ohhhhhhhhhhh...]
