Your reaction the first time you saw an Oblivion gate.

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:15 pm

My first experience with an Oblivion gate was nerve-wracking - I attempted one probably too early, was still not wholly comfortable with controls or casting spells, etc. So trying to get through the first gate early in the game had me very tense. Plus it was genuinely creepy. When I finally closed it, I felt a sense of accomplishment.

Imagine my dismay, later one, when I was trotting back to the IC and what do I see on a nearby hill... another gate! :ahhh: (I had no clue yet about the gate spawns. :( )

Heh, when I got the game going it was the first thing I wanted to see - I didn't last long having found one :( and fluffed around in the game for some time after that before I tried closing any.

I was surprised to find Dagon's realm looked a lot like something out of Doom/Quake. Felt like I had stepped into a completely different game. And not in a good way.

OH MY GOD! WHAT IS THAT! YOU'VE RUINED THE SKY! WHAT ARE YOU GUYS!

Ever since then Oblivion became a horror game. I had to close all gates but it was scary for me.

To be honest I hated the whole gate experience, it was dark, packed with enemies and I kept dying.

I was going from imperial city to cheydinhal on foot (never knew about fast travel, no any in morrowind) . It was fascinating , watching rivers and trees. Then i went to do main quest and i saw people in camp. They told me what happened and i was scared. I went up on hill and sky started to change to red. I was freaked out. Then i saw oblivion gate. I was totaly scared lol ...

Like a few others that posted, I walked through the damn thing a few times and thought, "WTF?"...then I realized it worked like a door. Once I got through learned to hate Clannfears again. But isn't the abundance of Harrada and Spiddal great? The Plane of Oblivion is a veritable poison factory for alchemists.

I tried to walk through it. I must have gone through that darn thing five or six times. :P

This, mixed with "Why in the WORLD do I have to go in this thing?!"

The one at the end was more like the above x1000000000000000000.

And I, also, like many others, thought you had to just walk through it. ^^

"Oh goooood.... a trip to one of the most inhospitable planes of Oblivion. I wonder if they'll have tea and crumpets laid out for me. *sigh* I'm having second thoughts about this whole 'hero' business. I knew I should have been a tailor."

Well, at first I stood there, staring like an idiot, with my very best "WTF-face". Then I did what so many others have done: I tried walking through it. I was playing at my neighbours computer at the time and he was like ", you're supposed to click on it...". "oh, right..."

My first Gate sighting was at the ruins of Kvatch......The Red skies...I was rather disturbed really..Watching the Guards of Kvatch take on the remains of Dagon's hoard..

Wow..... what pretty colors. Actually I did the same thing as some of you others, I walked back & forth through the one at K'vatch and nothing happened.

I spoiled myself with the previews.

Edit: No wait, they never did show the content of the gate(s). So then, curious, I entered (duh!).

Imperial guard rides down road "What was that noise? hmmf gone now never mind."

I did the same thing. But i said do i have to ? I also cussed more than a sailor trying to go into the gate. Unknown to me i had to press A to go into the gate.

It's 'E' you xbox SOB :D

Seems most of the people here tried to walk through it first (myself included) then felt stupid about it :D :D

Although I may have thought how stupid of the devs not to be able to zone through =P
