Before entering:

"All right! This is it!"

After a couple of minutes inside:

"This is IT!?"

First time i saw the weather/climate change - "What the...?"

Remembered that Kvatch is ruined - "Ah. Makes sense."

Saw the Oblivion gate - "Oh, it's just a hu... WHAT THE!?"

Before running in - "Awesome, time to kick ***! (draw sword, charge in)"

Definately my favourite part was when I took the sigil stone and appeared back, looked up and all I saw was rain in the night sky.

the first time I just came across kvatch, without even going there to get martin. I was just like O_o !!!! and then I ran behind those guards behind the barricade and then I talked to the guy and decided I better go into it, then I drew my sword and ran at full speed and jumped into the gate and then hit the door on the other side. then I was just like WTF !?!. but when I actually went through the gate the sense of dread overwhelmed me. and I got to the top of the tower and didnt know that you had to activate the sigil stone. then I left and didnt come back till about 4 characters and like 50 hours of gameplay later.

I actually got quite annoyed. It was in my first 2 hours of playing the game and I'd already concluded it was my favourite game of all time. I just loved the beautiful environments until that stupid gate made the sky all red...

Step by step:

1) Spot gate
2) Walk towards it
3) Press spacebar
4) Loading screen
5) Kill easy leveled enemies
6) Take sigil stone
7) End of experience with Oblivion gate.

1. Walk up the hill
2. See shiny red door.
3. Run at shiny red door multiple times.
4. Find Martin and get frustrated when he won't come with me.
5. Run around frantically attempting to figure out what to do.
6. Give up the game for 2 months and finally come back to it later.

Yes, I lacked common sense at that stage in my life. Since then my brain cells HAVE grown; I promise.

It's been quite a while, but i think it was  :bolt:

I also was at quite high level at the time, which made the whole Kvacth quest damn difficult. So difficult in fact, that i started the character again and focused on the main quest.

Memories...I enjoyed the atmosphere of the first Oblivion gate to say the least. ^_^ Definitely got my character going when he saw the other soldiers charging waves of enemy; infact, he got so into it, he literally took his time going in and stood at a near distance with a bow in hand. Picking em off one by one!

Draw sword, jump and enter, promptly get pwned by a scamp...grumble and reload, figure out how to fight more effectively, laugh at the scamps bloody lifeless body and figure I am now l33t...until I see more scamps.

in reality, my biggest oh crap moment was meeting my first spider dedric queen thing...though I transported into a forgotten realms novel...was expecting to see drow coming out at any moment...I read those novels...the underdark is not a friendly place no matter how l33t you think you are...mostly because of the mind flayers that flank drow in big battles..and the melty candle demon thingies whatever they are called.

I walked up to it, pressed A, got the stone, Picked up Martin, completed main quest, killed everyone for calling me "champion".

Started the cycle again.

I helped the three guys kill every creature out front, but there were still some left. Being new to the game, I thought of a solution.

I crouched, took out my bow, and launched four arrows into the Oblivion Gate. The captain guy came running out... with three arrows in his head. I thought "Christ on a stick" and then the guards kicked my ass.
