AaGeOn's HQ Texture Pack - WiP - Part 2

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 9:28 pm

Oh, wow.

Now, I'm really not one to pester about ETAs and such... I'm a huge proponent of "when it's done." But this is, I think, my #1 anticipated mod (to be fair, before the CK, there's not that much out there to anticipate, but please don't think that dampens my sincerity). Are we looking at weeks? Months? Do you plan to release in stages (e.g. landscapes, then statics, then items, etc.) or will you be finishing and releasing it all at once? I think my drool shorted my keyboard.

I'm also very exited about this, and if I remember correctly he mention doing it in stages and release demo'es of those but only wanted to release it all when he was satisfied with it. Some of the worst textures I notice often is the furniture like the dresser and end table and even most chests because you have to be close to them to open them.

It`ll be released in waves: First the landscape release, then indoor texture preview release, .. and so on, until everything had a test release, then the final stage is fix the remaining bugs/tilling issues and some improvements for a full package release :)
I`m also developing a website for it, to keep track of all the updates.

The landscape preview release won't be to long now :)

Wooow! Glad to find this. I'm currently running a mish-mash of he mods (skyrim hd 2k, hd snow, better armor, better clothes, hd water, hd furniture) but I really like what you've done. As you release this I'll be sure to replace that other stuff!

Have fun eating that. Those stones look really tall, I hope the normal map brings it out enough.

The title of the texture is wrote in the screen (in the History window ^^)

Great textures !!

Just the edges of the stones are too straight/unrealistic/not enough smooth maybe?

The edges are now embedded in the sand, so you won't notice that :)

9/12: Stone Texture Update (Big One): --> Softer "Stone Layers", added more details and added shadows, reworked the texture so it blends a lot better with the mountain models and creates the illusion that the stone is rounder on the edges, redone the normals and now offer better depth and much smoother top snow to create that realistic feel.

They're lovely. Please release it soon, my F5 key is taking quite a bit of abuse.

You know I love your textures but the rock ones are my least favorite, they look too different from the original imo. :( (They might just need to grow on me :P)
Still, great work and can't wait for it to be released! :woot:

I love the ground textures. The mountains seem TOO detailed, almost. Mountains and big boulders often have large chunks...

Agreed. Maybe I need to get use to them, but they seem too striated to me.

Well I really hated the original ones, the mountain models have straight lines everywhere: I tried to work with the models and took this as my reference: http://lewisaz.org/images/TrekonYellowMountain_827D/YellowMountain203.jpg

I agree I have gone a bit overboard with the detail :) I'll trim it down a bit :)
