This change makes no sense at all.
The only difference in your retext. is that the road is used far, far less. Nothing to do with facing correct way. People go in all directions. I don't like your retext. Makes the road appear barely traveled.
It is barely traveled. Everyone in the game talks about how they "don't go out anymore, what with the war and dragons". Travelers on the road are rare and limited to some merchants, an odd courier, the occasional monk or pilgrim, and military patrols. Even if traffic on the road was increased substantially, enough snow falls in Skyrim that I don't think it would have much of an impact on footprints; fresh snow would fill in any footprints left fairly quickly.
Speaking of which, I want a footprint mod. Why they left footprints out of a game filled with snow, I'll never understand.
EDIT: Oh, and the road texture originally had footprints going diagonally and sideways, the entire way down the road. You're telling me people appear, walk across the road, then disappear? That's silly. There should be far more footprints facing down the length of the road than going across or anything. >.> I like the new texture.
