AaGeOn's HQ Texture Pack - WiP - Part 2

Improved snow and footsteps now face the correct way
This change makes no sense at all.

The only difference in your retext. is that the road is used far, far less. Nothing to do with facing correct way. People go in all directions. I don't like your retext. Makes the road appear barely traveled.

It is barely traveled. Everyone in the game talks about how they "don't go out anymore, what with the war and dragons". Travelers on the road are rare and limited to some merchants, an odd courier, the occasional monk or pilgrim, and military patrols. Even if traffic on the road was increased substantially, enough snow falls in Skyrim that I don't think it would have much of an impact on footprints; fresh snow would fill in any footprints left fairly quickly.

Speaking of which, I want a footprint mod. Why they left footprints out of a game filled with snow, I'll never understand.

EDIT: Oh, and the road texture originally had footprints going diagonally and sideways, the entire way down the road. You're telling me people appear, walk across the road, then disappear? That's silly. There should be far more footprints facing down the length of the road than going across or anything. >.> I like the new texture.

I love it. Not using stock photos is probably why your textures don't look like stuck on wallpaper. and why it's taking so long. But I say if there's a case where a stock photo can help make it look better/the same but with a lot less work, by all means go for it, no one will think any less of your achievements.

If may offer some cc, the only comparison shot where Bethesda pulls off the "not 2d" effect slightly better is with the white flowers, though you've said it's a WIP. I'm not sure why it's not because it needs more detail, maybe the aggressive normal map makes it look embossed

When someone was asked about that, they said: "we don't do destructible environments" right...

gta3 had footprints iirc

It's an update for the texture, I was referring to the previous screen update: the majority of the footprints faced an weird position and not everyone can like/dislike the same things :).
So before taking about "no sense" read a bit down the OP ;):
21/11 Update 2-3 (added more screens) :

Indeed I had a bit to much depth in the normal, It's more leveled out now :)

not really digging the water, man :\ I don't know what. just doesn't seem wave like enough, as in it looks like it's barely moving/calm river. it needs to be more ferocious (imho)
i'm trying to find a good HD video of what I mean.

all i'm getting is tacky rock ballads and religious stuff. and twilight....

even google doesn't come up with anything decent. if only we had full on proper 3D waves. Some of the rivers in this game need to be edited, made wider and or shallower/deeper.

That's called mesh editing, wait for the Construction Set.

Well I had some comments on the water (other forum): I based my water design on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQWEa_fbU54&feature=related
I think I'm pretty close when you compare it with my video. Some find the waves to small, IMO I think it fits best for Skyrim, because it's full of shallow rivers.

That is the best thing I looked at for today after the 1.3 patch.

When this is ready for a test release it will surely take a lot of time for me to download it but it will be worth it.

Lookin good, what I like most is the depth it adds to a lot of things(like glaciers).

This texture pack will cover most of Skyrims current textures

Got me curious though, what are you planning not to retexture? Im assuming weapons/armour/clothing/misc items?

A few textures that imo don't need to change, but that won't be much hehe ;P

I think Windhelm has some of the ugliest textures in vanilla.

The doors in Ulfric's castle leading back outside... the walls of the city.. the streets of the city.

(why don't the ES forums include the entire quote pyramid, omz)

The question you were answering with this mentioned weapons and armor and stuff... do you plan on doing those (or at least the ones you think need it)?

And I'll just add my voice to the choir of "hurry up because I want this in my pants game."

Yes it'll be a full package: weapons, armor, ... every textured aspect of the game will be handled :)
