Another Major Problem

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:15 am

This seems to happen to someone every couple of weeks now doesn't it? The Idea that your Mom thinks your Civ III disc is the culprit appalls me, I mean come on, it was written with the same software that every other one has, so all of them would have to be infected it that were the case.
I feel so sorry for you.....

Pin it on him

He probably got into her account,

looked up a bunch of porm

Got the computer infected

and left you with the blame

time for nanny cam

Yeah my toughts exactly, I mean this baby sitter seems way to eager to pin the blame on these forums, honestly these forums have helped me remove viruses so even if I got one from here i would probobally still use it.

We all know what the real problem is, and it has nothing to do with any damn computer. And there's nothing we can do about that.

No, there isn't. She still believes that I broke and she believes that she fixed it. She wouldn't have downloaded Malwarebytes if I didn't tell her about. I just found another infected file that she wouldn't have by herself, yet I can't use one of the two computers in the house. This happened on the day that I was supposed to get Morrowind and her work laptop back. The timing confuses. It's as if the universe planned to ruin what supposed to be a great day. Also, like I said, my brother got sick this morning and puked in my shoe. I should be enjoying the PC version of Morrowind right now, but I don't think I will get to in the near future.

...Is it illegal to impersonate a proffessional? I could send you a letter or something signed as a computer specialist that explains that you didn't do it.

No no no, then his mom or babysitter would say that the letter gave the computer another virus. Everything Seti does apparently ruins the computer somehow.

Now she is blaming it on online flash games and whatever websites I went on to. I haven't played any online games and I've honestly only gone to Wikipedia, Youtube, these forums, and a couple of links from these forums on her computer.

...Thats pretty stupid, she should swallow er pride and admit you helped, even if you didnt cause it she should appreciate you fixed it.
And the universe knows how addixted you were/are to oblivion it dosent want you to spend the rest of your life in morrowind.

Seti made his brother sick with a virus, his brother then got the compter sick with a virus...Still setis fault :P

Say your brothers went on the games, because you didnt, see if shes going to be a [censored] to them, because she seems to be blaming everything on you, even though it seems you have dont nothing wrong.

You can try the old "well, it's already broke, so lemme try to fix it" argument, or the "it's broke, so you watch and make sure it doesn't break worse while I try to fix it" twist. Both work, sometimes.
There's also the fix it while she's not looking, which is risky.

If all else fails, use the wait till she forgets.

I have nothing to add 'cept that you should really talk your mom into going to a computer shop and be sure to bring up her thinking your games are causing the problems,I'm sure the people working there would laugh at her.

Also, the reason the world doesn't want you to use a computer is because ninja alien pirate monkeys have plans to make you their computerless sacrifice.

Go on a hunger strike. That might actually work, since logic is alien to your surrounding people. Something outrageous is just what they need.

He thinks the forums slow down his internet. He insulted a moderator and only gets on here to cause some trouble. He can change his IP address, so he might be on here again. He really doesn't care about the forums, though.
Wait...He thinks the forums slow down the internet...Yet he knows how to change his IP address? What kind of....
Protip: You can't change the IP assigned by the ISP without breaking more than a few laws. I think he's just changing the Private Address Range (192.168.1.???), which does nothing to hide you from a trace.

This.

Dude, I really wish there was something we could do to really help you. Computers aside, this guy is clearly a knob and has no right to do any of this to you. He is an idiot of epic proportions! Honestly, this guy appears to know jack about computers, networking, the internet...hell, anything! If he thinks these computers slow his internet down, then go download the Ubuntu ISO and watch a ton of youtube vids. Then he'll see what slow is...

A) It's not his internet...my advice to you would be to create a list of trusted users and block his laptop from accessing the internet in your house. Or make it so all he can access is a rickroll?
B) If this would make things worse, show your mum some of the posts on here (if you want me to PM you a letter to her, explaining everything, then by all means I'd be happy to).
C) If that's not gonna fly, then all I can suggest is you install some kind of decent AV on your mum's computers. Explain to her about how these forums work. There is no html/javascript embedding, so no virus can be hidden. Show her that when hovering over a link, it shows the URL that you'll be redirected to, so there is no chance of being tricked into clicking something. Also explain that the guy at Staples was just being a businessman, trying to convince her the problem was worse than it actually is, so they can have the business from fixing it.
D) Finally, if none of this works, I'd go for framing the babysitter. Track what he is doing on the computer, and collect a log of all sites he is going on. Bring that back here, and we can sift through the most likely candidates, perhaps finding the culprit? Although it sounds as though this babysitter has a ridiculous amount of authority here.

Oh, also, if the babysitter/[censored] is reading this, I have one thing to say...GTFO of this kid's life! You are a tosser, and you really need to get off your high horse! You are ruining a young lad's life here with your interference, and your fake knowledge of IT is almost laughable! You're bullying a kid because you know you can't take on anyone your own age/maturity, you know that right? And even then, you won't bully him directly, you have to go through his mummy! Just leave him alone, and try not to let the door hit you on the ass on the way out...

Ask her why she thinks that the games and forums slow down the computer.

Ask her if there is anyway you can convince her otherwise. Say something like 'for example, a way for you to convince me would be to bring me to a computer company and have me talk to them, or to track the virus back to one of my games.

It is really not so much the words you use, more about how you say it; act almost a little bit uncertain that you didn't cause it.

I dont think that would help if his mother knows he is telling random people on the internet about this, and some post wont help.

Look guys (and gals), we're not going to use this forum to discuss any sort of revenge on Seti's brother's babysitter.
