Another Major Problem

Install another harddrive, install the OS of your choice and duel boot.

Most epic thing ever? I think so. "En garde, Windows!" "Have at thee, Linux!" *cling clang* Awesome.

@seti18: I used to go through the same crap. Everything that happened to anything was my fault. Best thing to do is to teach them. It didn't work for me, but it may work for you, and I know that is what's best. Show them how to run antivirus/defrag/CCleaner. Show them what NOT to click and how to Google things that seem fishy.

Best of luck, man.

Not sure if this has been suggested. See if you can DL malware bytes onto a USB from a library or something then install and scan at home. I live by malware bytes, should do the job for you.

The only way to "cure" irrational blaming with computers is to have your mother buy a new computer for herself, and for you to NEVER EVER TOUCH IT. That way, when things do go wrong again, she will have absolutely no choice but to accept that it isn't your fault and that she may be wrong after all.

These are the kind of people that think simply having a game installed on a computer will automatically slow the whole thing down no matter if the game is running or not. :P

It won't matter. My mom is convinced that I did something wrong.

I'll try that.

Ok one thing to blame you, but she wont even let you show her its not your fault thats not realy fair.

Seriously, let her deal with this herself. If she refuses to be rational then tell her to fix her own problems instead of [censored]ing at you.

My mom said that when she logged on to her computer, she couldn't do anything. The pop-up was on her computer screen and she couldn't do anything. Also she will not change her mind about this being my fault. She believes she knows what she's talking about. I'm never going to use her laptop or what was mine(the other one that I think I was going to be surprised with today). I'm using my ps3 right now. My mom doesn't care, or believe, that my brothers used her computer and she doesn't believe that this could be her fault. My brothers are blaming me and these forums(they've also been on her computer) and I can't believe I have to take this crap from an 11 year old and an 8 year old. The babysitter will find out and I will not be allowed to come on the forums anymore.

Well when your brothers or the babysitter keep using your mom's computer to keep looking at virus infested porm sites, then you can quietly laugh to yourself how, since by process of elimination, you cannot be to blame and someone else will take the fall for it next time.

Or

You could have really bad luck and they'll say you were sneaky and used the computer in the middle of the night and went on these virus infested forums :P

In either case it sounds like ignorance has won the day and the righteousness of logic has been foiled once again through the sheer determination of an angry parent

Edit: I have lost all ability to spell apparently

I suspected that, but my mom said it popped up when she wasn't on the internet.

If the computer is connected to a working modem it's still on the internet. The Playstation 3 has some kind of web browser doesn't it, so just use that for now if you can.

You just can't play morrowind period on a ps3 unless you make it to a supercomputer ........which you need more than one and I think that would break EULA not counting the other tech problems.

One word for you seti: sabotage. Frame the brother that pisses you off the most. You want to make it clear that he did it, and make sure they cant guess it was you that set them up.
Also, is the mouse plugged in?

Better be careful doing that too

They might say that the virus jumped from your ps3 to the computer

I have Morrowind for the Xbox and I have Oblivion for the ps3, but I want mods, and I won't do anything illegal, so I need a PC. I should have known something would go wrong today. Why do things happen when they do?

It's life , why is math 11 tough for me ? No clue I hate it. We got our problems just try to go through them. And make sure everyone your household stops blaming you. Remind them that you are not the sources of all the problems . You got to inching to break and yell out the truth sometimes , keeping it in won't help you in the long run kiddo.

Wow, too bad you are surrounded by technotards.

You want to go overboard with virus and spyware protection: AVG Free edition, Spybot Search & Destroy, and AdAware from Lavasoft (Free edition)

CCleaner to clear your internet caches and cookies (esp. Internet Explorer), along with other gunk

Revo Uninstaller to make sure you get rid of everything when uninstalling a program

Firefox with AdBlockPlus and Better Privacy, along with NoScript (which is a bit tricky to use, so your mom will probably get angry)

Of course, if you are really that infested, you'll need a sharp eye and the Windows command line to see if any nasty programs are talking to the internet through your ports.

I'm going to install Malware Bytes right now...

EDIT: Figures. The Bytes program won't even run, it just gives me an error. <_<

So she thinks she knows, and yet has no idea how to fix it or what actually caused it, seriously if she knew about computers fine, but she cant just blame someone and have no idea what shes on about, ignore your brothers but the baby sitter should not be able to stop you going on here, he/she could if it was his/her computer but its not, so they cant realy stop you.

*reads above post* Hmm I may save that because some of that stuff which I will forget soon enough sounds like a good way to make sure I dont get a virus again.

There are 2 users on that computer, my mom and I. The pop-up(security tool) only appears on her account and is warning her about a bunch of trojans, keyloggers, and other viruses. Why isn't it popping up on my account?

Also, she installed something called spyware docter to try and get rid of the problem, but I've never heard of it. It's a virus, and my mom installed it on her computer. I just found out that is the pop-up.

She installed something? Wow, I'm shocked, but then again maybe she'll just blame you for it not working and say you forced her to download it somehow. Spydoctor is safe according to google, but why haven't you tried downloading some of the software mentioned here yet?

You think this is bad, one time I was court ordered to hand over my computer and Xbox because they thought it would solve something.

I protested you can say, and after a few months they handed it back. Then I went to a higher court. :P

Anyway, as someone said buy your own computer. Got mine in like three or four years saving up birthday and Christmas money.
