Is anybody actually excited about Old World Blues?

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 12:40 am

After the last two DLC (one you could never return, and I personally wouldn't play again without much coaxing, the other a huge let down) is anybody actually excited about OWB? I'm thinking this might be the Pitt of Fallout New Vegas, but I'm a bit skeptical...I'm probably not even going to buy it the first day it's released :shocking: I was just wondering if anybody has been waiting on pins and needles for this DLC or if all of your anticipation was destroyed by the last two DLC. So much time was taken for the build up of Honest Hearts and it didn't seem like a near equal amount of time was spent promoting OWB. Am I wrong? :liplick:

Apart from that tiny little clip (and NA viewers Qore) we don't really know anything about it.

Seems like they don't like building up hype with trailers anymore.

Such a shame.

If they add a new trait letting you pick a perk every level, I will be. Also if they add good perks or a better cooler set of armor/ energy weapon I will be and if they fix the majority of the bugs in HH and the main game so I can actually beat it for once with out getting corrupt data or glitches or some bs like that. Ah well. By the way it's been compared to point lookout in a few ways I saw some admin on the board say soo... If thats true, and it's not laggy or glitchy like point lookout it could be fun.

By calling it a Pitt like DLC I meant, the best in the series of DLC before the final one...I didn't personally like Point Lookout, so now I'm even less excited :sadvaultboy:

btw, love your name! :hubbahubba:

I loved both DM and HH . . . so yes, I am excited. Honest Hearts filled my need for taking some sort of expedition like we always did in Fallout 1/2 (week+ of traveling to a location) and I thought it was awesome, and Dead Money was frustratingly well-designed and had a lot of good dialogue. I don't have high expectations for OWB in order to not spoil it for not meeting those expectations, but I am still excited.

I'm not looking forward to it in a generalized sense because that leads to hype, hype leads to an increase in expectations, and that leads to disappointment. I wasn't looking forward to either Dead Money or Honest Hearts and I liked them a heck of a lot more than I liked any of the DLC for Fallout 3, which I had high expectations for. Go figure.

Since Old World Blues and Lonesome Road are both being written primarily by Chris Avellone I do admit to at least looking forward to the stories of the upcoming DLCs (Dead Money's story rocked my socks man, and I loved Planescape: Torment and Knights of the Old Republic II's writing). Chris Avellone is basically the writing god of the video game industry.

Ever since I popped FO3 back in I've lost all interest in NV, DM and HH were letdowns for me, and there isn't much to get me excited about these upcoming two dlc's

This is the only one I have been excited about since it's announcement, I want to hear about all the pre-war [censored] the government was up to, see the science and the military bases not take part in tribal warfare.

Yes, I'd say so. I know a fair few people have been annoyed that some aspects of the DLC are quite integral to the main storyline (and so should be included in the main game), but I find that has made me anticipate the DLCs more than I usually do. So I get to play a war sim where I fight the Chinese soldiers? That's cool, but knowing that I would find out about Joshua Graham, or Ulysses or stuff like that has piqued my interest far more.
Plus I've really liked the DLC so far, so even with very little teasing going on I'm already really interested to see what else they've got in store.

If they add a new trait that lets you pick a perk every level, i start all over again after 280 hours

Oh you. Hey, on the off chance that you'll answer my question (I don't want to screw with Twitter), does Ulysses' story ruin player-made backstories? :foodndrink:

This is the DLC I have been looking forward to the most. And if the rumors are true and this one is the "zaniest" then I will happy.

Mr Avellone do you think you will do a OWB blog like you did with dead money as it was very insightful and an interesting read to see what you thoguht worked for it and what dident with explaining the choices behind it.

I'm so excited! And I just can't wait for the [censored] EU PS store to update so I can play the DLC that was released before Old World Blues. After that, I'll be excited to see the Big Empty.

I loved Dead Money, more than anything in two new Fallouts. Honest Hearts was not my cup of tea but still ok, so yeah, I'm pretty exited for OWB.

Even when I've been waiting for a game for ages (D3, *cough*) I never get excited until a couple days before release. And sometimes not even then. But I do look forward to seeing how it pans out. I'll need to know a bit more before I have a good idea whether I want to buy it tho.

I am. With dialog from Elijah, I am curious to see this treasure trove of tech. Plus an area that looks different from the Mojave is always a welcome addition.

I always look forward to new content. Though I wish some of the creatures encountered in the dlc could make an appearance in the main game, but in such a way as it makes sense to the storyline.

After DM wich was really Good and different and
HH wich had a fantastic Landscape, much to explore for an old lady engine.
Yes i am glad that there are 2 more DLC′s
But not excited, sounds a bit childish.
7 Year olds get EXCITED by a Lolli Pop. :D

I can′t believe that my first character (made in October last year), finally made it through the Sierra Madre
and Return from ZION.
And i chase this Guy back n forth through NV, the Vaults, the DLC and every Final Ending.
Hope we get it this Month.

Cheers Obsidian.
Amazing
