Anyone else find it difficult to play as the opposite gender

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 1:12 pm

i would be more inclined to play a female if they didnt make it to where even at there strongest build character creation stilll makes female characters look like a gentle breeze would knock them on there backside
Skyrim still does a better job of correcting this than 99% of the games out there. At least you can make women that look like women and not airbrushed models. Then most of the people who play female characters (male and female) complain because their characters aren't beautiful enough because it's a fantasy game. Developers aren't going to win this battle without providing players with a lot more customization.

For me its a problem, whenever i try to play a female character i just end up feeling like an idiot, so i was wondering, am i the only one who feels like this?

You should try it in real life, once you've got past the initial staring, it feels great.

Almost 6 years in WoW and Rift, and since release in Skyrim. All my characters are mostly female - I would say about 70-30 split in favor of females (I'm a male player).

My favorite was and always will be my little female gnome death knight (WoW), with pink ponytails, and never wears a helmet - messes up her hair. Yeah, hate me now - you cow lovers lol.

The four characters I play in Skyrim, 3 female/1 male.

I think I prefer females because they're more graceful than male characters, and yeah - looks have a role, too.

A late entry: I don't RP, so it's easier for me to play a female than for most other TES players, I guess.

Im a guy, and always play a male character, mostly because im one who sees the character as "myself in TES".. sort of. I dont have a problem being other races though. I also like some immersion, so i always play in 1st person. The large amount of revealing "armor" in alot of TES mods kind of annoys me though, because that really tends break immersion for me. If you are going into combat, in a rather cold province like Skyrim, why on earth would you ever wear what is basically an armored bikini?

I guess im just a little wierd.

nope, i never have a problem rping a female. it's cosmetic. it's not like i'm actually trying to think of what a women in real-life would do or think then apply it to my female game character.

now, that's way to boring and a waste of my time.

in fact, with the fallouts playing a female helped me gain some meaningful advantages.

Not at all. Nowadays i pretty much exclusively play with woman characters. I rather play with girls than with myself :teehee:

No problem for me. I almost always play as female characters (mostly Khajiit).

So i'm not the only weirdo who does that :P

if you look at threads like the ones where everyone can post his characters, you would see that most of the players here are playing female characters.

Or is it that the ones with female characters are more likely post screenshots of them? Polls on the matter indicate that most play a character of their own gender, if memory serves.

I used females for a while, but it was a bit odd after i thought about it, so i made a huge male orc ranger, hes just like me, except....im not green with huge teeth......

Yup. So difficult that I've never made a female character in any of the three Elder Scrolls games I've played. I like to RP a lot and getting into the mind of a female character seems impossible and, if I'm being honest, a bit odd to me.

It is difficult but not impossible. Half the time I'm sitting there perving at my own character.

Feel free to flame me, but you guys who roll females and put them in skimpy little dresses creep me the hell out, big time.

As you wish: Men who find the female form attractive? The horror! :cold:

Not all male players play female characters to get their rocks off. I play female characters because I find them easier to care about and I love seeing a strong woman kick ass. Those are the characters I always root for in movies, so I'm happy when a game gives me a chance to play a character like that.

That's a big part of it for me too. Personally i'm fed up with the "damsel in distress" cliche, so my characters are women who kick ass and look good doing it

As long as I' m not interested in undressing my char, gender or species plays no role at all.
Once interested (by means of whatever), things may change.

In Roleplaying games like this one, yes. In games like D2 or Torchlight... not at all.

I've tried playing female characters before. It just doesn't feel right to me. I had an awesome female Argonian alchemist in Morrowind but even she got shelved after a while because I feel too weird playing something with boobs. Or even without boobs, once I got a new beast body mod. I'm not really sure what it is but the "vibe" of females just doesn't suit me.

If I'm gonna be staring at a pixellated ass for hours upon end, it might as well be a female ass
How on earth can you play Skyrim in third person? The combat is impossible.

On the contrary, I find melee combat easier in third person. A lot easier to maneuver
on the topic of the thread, no I don't. I start out as a male, but I don't have any problem playing as a female after that.

With me it's the opposite. The combat is impossible in first person.

It used to bother me a little. But for a long time I never played a female character.

But now if I am playing a game that I am running multiple characters through half are female. I am running 8 characters now one each gender and each of the human races. I will do the nonhumans after I finish all the humans, and half will be male and half female.

I do have to admit that with the inclusion of S/S relationships in the games it has made it easier for me to play female characters.

I have one for every way :P

But, as in every thread on the subject, i say it's a point of view difference. If you play as the character no doubt that'll feel awkward. If, like me, you play with the character, then gender and spouse choices are merely aesthetical ^_^
