For me its a problem, whenever i try to play a female character i just end up feeling like an idiot, so i was wondering, am i the only one who feels like this?
You're not the only one who feels like that.
Many polls in the past on this forum "do you play male or female". Typical results is 80% male. Pretty similar for "do you play same gender".
Another common comment is that people who see the character as being "them" tend to play the same gender. People who just see the character as some movie/book/etc character that they're pushing around, don't always.
Personally, I don't have a problem with it, and am frequently surprised at how many people say they
do have problems with it. I've never seen a character that I'm playing as an avatar of "me".... it's just a game piece I'm moving around on the game board. So it being male, female, a slime mold, a demon, whatever - none of those things are reflections on who "I" am.
