Anyone else have this bug in their game?

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 1:33 pm

I only get a perk every other level, and grim reaper's spirit only gives me 20 AP in return when i kill something in vats.

All joking aside,
I can see from some of the threads that Bethesda is trying to think of a way to makeup for this stink hole that Obsidian turned their baby into.

I have thought of a few ways.
Give us our freaking perks back for every level we go up!
Fix Grim Reaper's Spirit.
The return of Almost Perfect.
Return all of the old perks maybe some with a new twist.
Allow us to mod the "named" guns (ps mods for .50 cal)

I personally pre-ordered this game. So I played through the main quest just to have the disappointment like in the original release of FO3 of all of my collecting being for nothing because the game just ends. Not allowing me to finish anymore side quests. It's like you guys didn't learn from the original round of [censored]ing that the game should keep going after you finish the main quest. So then I decided to do everything but the main quest. Collect all of the guns to modify, only to have the game delete the things i had collected, then glitch because it had deleted my pre-order DLC pack equipment. And this was after the patch which randomly locked doors for no reason and brought dead people back to life.

Bethesda I'm not mad, i have played your games for years. You have given me hours upon hours of enjoyment so i have always bought your games and every DLC you have released (yes, even horse armor). I know you can fix it.

It's that way for balance. You can't get ninety percent of the perks on one playthrough.

Fix Grim Reaper's Spirit.

It's that way for balance. Before you could just keep VATSing and killing over and over.

The return of Almost Perfect.

No. Thank. You. Seriously whats the point of even making the game an RPG and then allowing that perk? Might as well just make it so that every players character is identical.

Return all of the old perks maybe some with a new twist.

Most of them were simply 'five points to X skill' and as such utterly useless unless you wanted to max your character.

Allow us to mod the "named" guns (ps mods for .50 cal)

Balance I believe. Most of the named guns are more powerful than the standard versions and some already mount mods.

None of these will really improve the game. And its fine as it is -apparent from the bugs obviously.

edit: Also your post is biased.

Well then YOU don't have to pick those perks.

I want them back, and if bethesda wants more returns then they can leave everything the way it is.
You don't take the fun out of a game, then just tell your fan base to svck it up.
Those perks were what made the level cap tolerable.
They can salvage this game but it will require repairing more than a few silly bugs.
We want our perks back, they spoiled us so they can't blame us.
If they release the DLC before the patch you can count on me and a lot of other people not buying it.
If they want to slap another GOTY on their package, they better understand who greases the gears to get that done.

I am moving this to the general forum as it is not a bug issue or hardware problem.

Every time I see this I have the same thought. Maybe they did learn from FO3 and Broken Steel, but the lesson they learned was not the one you think they should have learned.

Why don't people understand that the point of an rpg is to make your character strong in some areas, and weaker in others? You can't always be a god. It makes the game pointless. Perks every other level was meant to be there for a reason. You actually have to think about what perks to choose to mold your character.

The reason is: balance.

I like it this way because I like a challenge for my character, not some 'uber god mode can handle any type of situation' character. Gets a bit boring just exploring.

There are mods around BTW to play in sisi-mode.

If you really want to God-mode it all the way, just get the PC version and mod the game until it squeals for mercy from the lack of balance, k? K.

I play on PC and get a perk every level via a mod. Its fun, something to look forward to and I honestly don't understand why Obsidian decided to make them every other level. They don't make my character "overpowered" as far as I can tell - the game stays a bit harder than FO3 even with the mod. Again, its just a fun little thing to have each level up and there are more than enough of them in the game to allow them at that frequency (and I don't miss the "+5 to skill" ones - never used those in FO3 anyway).

New Vegas is awesome. Your complaint seems to be that it ends. Its clear when its going to end. Originals only give you a perk every 3rd level. I am happy with every other level.

Yes I have Cazadores in my game... I hate them with a passion. They're like massive, sadistic bees that eat baby polar bears and excrete pure evil out of their bowels.

More on topic however, no thank you on all of these. The game is balanced thanks to the changes that were made and I prefer it that way.

Yep my copy works great :celebration:

IMO its annoying to read compaints about New Vegas that are along the lines of "New Vegas should be just like FO3."

Well, you presumably already own one copy so it would be a bit silly unless you want the mods. PC version isn't any more buggy than console version, though.

It's not bad for PC players because they can just type in a code to repair the bugs or just mod it. Where us who use consoles are not allow to out of a threat of being banned. So we come here and get crapped on by some people who more than likely just downloaded their copy. So you pc players are not facing the same merciless issues we are.

This thread was moved from the 360 bug section to here with out identifying what the original complaint was about. I was suggesting how they could make the issues we face up to us.

Especially when New Vegas is at least 50x better than the nonsense that FO3 was.

This.

Yes yes you already bought the game. But the developers aren't going to change all these things just for you...that's what the editor is for. Even if I owned a console, there would be some games that I would buy on PC simply because of the editor concept, if they have one. Big RPG's would be one of them.

And for the record, I also think the things you dislike are fine the way they are.

Because Obsidian went back to the roots of Fallout where perks are selected every 3rd level. The original fallout's main emphasis is on character creation and its evolution to create a specific specialized character, not so much on exploring. That's where Beth totally missed the point in FO3 which pissed off most old-schoolers, although I'm sure they do a great job on creating sandbox games and now we have a symbioses between the two game styles imo, Obsidian brought back the character creation + writing with a Bethesda engine. Maybe I'm biased because I never played TES, Oblivion or whatever nor shall I ever play them because I don't like dungeon crawler games. I still have love for the oldies and play them every year, it's in fact because of the character creation limit that they are highly replayable. IMO FONV brought the old Fallouts more or less back to life.

Furthermore I play FONV hardcoe + the toughest settings without mods (it's my first playthrough, I only use bug fixing mods) and I still find the game difficulty a walk in the park.

Firstly i'm on 360 aswell.

The perks aren't an issue.

The ending is also not a issue.
