Anyone else worried that New Vegas is going to svck?

Post » Sat May 14, 2011 4:06 pm

KotOR 2 was the way it was because Obsidian wasn't given enough time to finish it.
So don't blame them.
And I played and loved every game they made.

Or worse, what if the john falls from space and kills you? :P

I really doubt the game is going to be terrible. I've been doing as much research as I can on all the info that's come out so far, and it seems like a lot of thought, hard work, and (dare I say?) love has been put into this game.

:) I'm almost expecting to love this game just as much as Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

Agreed. Unless something is really screwed up that wasn't evident in what we've seen so far I don't see how this game could be anything but better than FO3. I'm liking almost everything I hear so far.

I don't think Fallout New Vegas is going to svck based on the fact that its Fallout and a few bugs is not going to ruin the game. However, they could try to make the game run a little smoother than Fallout 3.

I changed my mind. It's going to be terrible. I'm still going to take my CE copy just so I can hate on it, though.

What if you're hit and killed by a meteorite while sitting on the john?

It's not going to 'svck' but I'm sure some people will be disappointed, with all this crazy hype.

I don't understand why people want to know everything about the game before playing it. I don't care to know all the specifics about which perks are in the game, or quests, or whatever, I'll see it when I play the game. I don't want any spoilers. In fact, I think that today is the last day I'll be on the New Vegas forums until I've had a chance to play the game myself.

For example, I've heard people talk about a 'Mr. House', and I have no idea who this is. And I don't want to know.

Some people are treating it like it's going to be the game of the century, and with that kind of mindset you can only get disappointed, even if the game is very good.

One thing we'll probably see (again), because of all the hype, is that people showing their opinion about the game are probably going to be posting either of two extremes: It's either the best game ever, or it svcks. After a while things should calm down again (and patches get released) and people will say that the game is 'good'. :P

I can understand why getting your hopes up can be a bad thing
but I like to think that a little optimism never hurt anyone either. :)

I hope they've fixed some of the more annoying gameplay elements from Fallout 3. Assuming there's none of the hideous game breaking bugs that many people suffered, I don't see how it could be any worse than Fallout 3.

Thats because those aren't "true" rpg games either, like the older Fallouts or Planescape:Torrment say, they're hybrid action/rpg games that draw in the non-rpg crowds. Not that it's a bad thing or anything. Just sayin'. Probably makes them alot more money that way.

No, they most definitely are true RPGs. Just because their real time doesn't make them "non true" RPGs. The Combat System/mechanics do not make or break the game from being an RPG.

You do realize that the a fair bit of the people who did New Vegas did the original Fallouts, right?

Agreed, if you ask me all RPGs can be categorized into two sub-genres. Theres American style RPGs, and Japanese style RPGs. American style is more sandbox, instead of giving you a script and telling you how to play, it lets you make your own story and build your own abilities (Fallout, Dragon Age, ect.) And Japanese style RPGs have a fairly more in depth story and a more straight forward gameplay style, and typically do not have a reputation/karma system. Not to say that there is no free roam in the Japanese style. So, yes, Fallout is deffinetly an RPG.

I can just imagine the forum spam to come ... :ahhh:

I wonder how long the "lul" will last before the real tsunami of posts starts to roll in? Would be great to have a meter on posts-per-hour. ;)

There is no possibly way this game will svck!

I've thought about it. I doubt it will but I want to be fully prepared in case it does. When you've been waiting for a game sine it was first announced you don't want to get overhyped just to find out it's nothing like you thought it would be.

Nope, should be pretty fun. There will be bugs of course, the dated Gambryo engine if nothing else, but that seems to be par for the course these days no matter who makes the game.

There are aspects to the new mechanics that I am not a big fan of, but I'm on PC, so I can just mod things to suit me once I play through the Dev's way.

Regardless, unless it is unplayable due to bugs, it should be pretty fun. Except for the lack of underground tunnels, I am really going to miss the Metros.

You, my friend, are a rare breed. I had some really fun moments in the tunnels but the fact we HAD to use them and the fact that most of them looked and felt exactly the same ruined it for me.

I think that it will be good. KoTOR 2 wasn't a great game, but then again, Obsidian didn't really have time to work on it, so I forgive them for that.

And it is a completely different scenario, so I am sure that New Vegas won't svck. Even if it does, at least it is open world, so that is a plus.

Besides, I have noticed that open world RPGs tend to bug a tad more than your average, say, FPS, so it is something I expect.
