Anyone else worried that New Vegas is going to svck?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 11:55 am

Bethesda didn't actually deliver a completely polished product with F3 or Oblivion either. So the likeliness that NV will svck when compared to it is really low.

If Bethesda took the series from another developer and made it a best seller again, then how Obsidian (original makers) could make it worse? It's impossible :celebration:

You sir should be ashamed. Take your bemoaning elsewhere, these forums are about hope and joyous post apocalyptic shenanigans, not your Commie talk of svcking. May you contract the wasteland herpes from the game that started it all; Wasteland (Recognize!) Shout Out to my homegirl Christine and all the thugs in Xenophobic Needles.

And if that weren't enough, I think the Obsidian reputation for bugginess is at least partly undeserved. I played KoTOR2 and NWN2 on release and noticed no major bugs that jumped out at me.

This. I've played through both several times, patched and unpatched, and haven't noticed any major bugs in either.

Nope, I'm looking forward to it. I'm not by any means a giant fan (if they suddenly postponed release I wouldn't care that much), but I have faith in the franchise. Tbh, I can't see how this calibre of people working on an already successful franchise can mess it up enough to make it a thoroughly "bad" game.

Just for future reference: You are on a Fallout board asking a question like that. It only takes a few marbles to realize that VERY few people are going to agree with this. This is the same thing I'll say to the inevitable "F:NV is sooo overrated!" threads.

I'm liking it so far. A few graphical glitches won't hamper my most anticipated game of these last few years.

This.

I've never been excited for a game like this before. I seldom show emotions and yet the thought of New Vegas 5 days away makes my heart skip with joy, call me a nerd or whatever. I take my love and knowledge of the Fallout series with great strides. I've seen only one bug (Not counting the E3 demo head missing thing) and that was the floating woman in the Ultra Luxe. Beyond this, My dedication and love to the Fallout Series holds true. It's people like me and the countless regulars here that show that a game can touch peoples hearts. To some its a video game, to others, it's just as real a world as our actual universe. If you think Fallout New Vegas will svck, then good for you, but in the words of Dr. Braun "There's the door, go."

I actually have a lot of faith that Obsidian will deliver a good playable product. Animation and graphics bugs aside, the game looks like an overall improvement on FO3 and as long as it lives up to that I'll be happy.

Is it possible it may yet disappoint? Yeah, it's possible but right now it doesn't look likely.

Not really, they already have the experience in making Fallout 3 so I don't think the same bugs and problems will be happening again. At worst, it will be like another Fallout 3, which isn't a bad game in its own right (I am disappointed in it as a Fallout game, but still a fun game to play).

And even if there are lots of bugs, an update of two should be able to fix it all.

What do you guys think based on what we've actually seen so far?

I think I'm still picking up my pre-order copy, come the 19th.

And, by the way: I liked Alpha Protocol. A lot.

They already had the base of the game right at the start..
If they [censored] it up they wont have any excuses.
Lets hope the game wont have all those annoying crashes and freezes.

I'm not worried about the game being really buggy as much as I'm worried that I won't like the environment as much as FO3.

From the videos I've seen I'm very worried about it being more buggy than F3, also very worried about performance on the PS3

Fallout 3 had a development cycle of approx 1.5 years (based on my own calculations). Fallout: New Vegas will have had a similar approx. 1.5 year development cycle (again, based on my own calculations). Thus, it doesn't appear to me that F:NV was rushed, which appears to be Obsidian's biggest weakness and the area which causes the most bugs/faults/unfinished content from them. Thus, after doing a little research via Wikipedia on approx. development times, I am a *little* less worried that Obsidian was rushed or pressured to finish early.

I am still a little concerned that there may be unfinished content, quests, or various bugs that may never get fixed - but they are less of a concern than they might otherwise be if the development time for F:NV were less than it is. My hope is that this will be an excellent game, with plenty of twists, turns, replay-value and fun! I don't think that I will be proven wrong there - but I am willing to admit that there is that slight element of doubt in the back of my mind.

If you fear using what god gave you insofar as a brain... Yes you will hate it.

If you do not fear using your yam for something other then a hat rack... the game is going to be awesome.

The only thing that is worrying me is the damage threshold, It seems kind of complicated to me.

But i haven't hardly read into it.

Nah, it isnt all that complicated. If Power armor has a DT of 6 (It wont be that low, but for this purpose it is) and you have a pistol with a Damage of 10, you're only going to do 4 damage per shot that hits.
