One of the books (i'm sure someone will provide it) stated that the Argonians beat the Deadra all the way back into oblivion...they even went inside still and the Deadra had to close the gates themselves.

After years of oppression of course they are going to take the best shot.

Pretty sure I have read that too, not sure where.

Yes those bone pickers the Dunmer will be restored.

You realize this is the Elder Scrolls, right?

Are you serious?
I'm always an Argonian on TES games, and I disapprove of this thread.

Sources, or it didn't happen!

found it!

"Yes, but that was ending when the Oblivion crisis happened. Look, even you have to admit that if Mehrunes Dagon had won, if Martin hadn’t beaten him—”

“Martin and the Empire didn’t beat him in Black Marsh,” Glim said, his voice rising. “The An-Xileel did. When the gates opened, Argonians poured into Oblivion with such fury and might, Dagon’s lieutenants had to close them.”

i'm probably inviting a virtual flogging by even mentioning this, but i really think the argonians and the khajiit should be banished from the ES universe. they're absolutely ridiculous, even for a fantasy game. as much as i try to understand or at least appreciate their relevance, it becomes almost impossible to ignore just how out of place these two races seem within the tolkien-tamriel universe. perhaps this is more an issue with the lore than the narrative, but i almost think they'd be better suited within the context of a futuristic sci-fi. for some reason that feels more appropriate for a cat and a lizard, or maybe i've just seen one too many episodes of star trek.

maybe the idea was to bring in another race to layer the whole man/mer power struggle, but i'm not buying it. i'd imagine it's too late now, at least in terms of future ES games (though i'd certainly be willing to look the other way) but these overgrown lizards and cat-people are so dopey and cheesy they almost ruin what is otherwise an interesting balance on the struggle between mer and man.

Just out of curiosity, is Skyrim your first TES game?

I've never played as either of those two races as they do not interest me. Yet i would never accept them being removed from TES.

They are a big part of the lore and I've no doubt that we will be playing a future Elder Scrolls title that is set in either Black Marsh or Elsweyr at some point in the future.

Would you buy an Elder Scrolls game that is based in either Black Marsh or Elsweyr?

The in-game Dunmer said it.

Morrowind is still a shattered land, and the places that aren't occupied by Argonian soldiers are covered with smoke from Vvardenfell blowing it's cap in a spectacular explosion that ravaged the Dunmer that hadn't been given a vision by Azura to leave.

Oddly enough, those that were given visions apparently didn't tell everybody else, because MANY Dunmer died.

I think it is.

He might buy it if it had 'gasp' dragons.

..Okay? Argonians raided some Oblivion gates. The PC in Oblivion could take them down solo. Argonians did it in unison. <_<

For now it is shattered.
The smoke will clear.
The land can be restored.

Argonians were the only race that beat the Daedra. They went completely unscathed from the Oblivion Crisis. Hell, they did more damage to the Daedra than they took. Not even Cyrodiil, who had a god-king of awesome that somehow wound up in prison took damage from the crisis.

Its true Black Marsh was not really touched by the Oblivion Crisis thanks to the Hist and the Argonians.

argonians were the only race that could take them down, every other race failed miserably trying to do so (well not the altmer, they were happy to know everyone was going to die, bloody fools if you ask me)

You win this time, Nord.

I am an Orc, a Redguard, and a Bosmer as much as I am a Nord.

And I win EVERY time.

I'd love to see those stuck-up, grey-skinned, racist, demanding, cursed, hateful, pathetic, [censored]es try to fight the Argonian army. Especially after all their slaves have been ripped away. So, go ahead dark elves, make me laugh.

As for Azura, what a [censored]. Seriously, am I the only one that can't stand her. "Oh, these people love me immensely. I'm going to let half of them die, after I cursed them brutally ages ago. That's sure to make them love me more." The Dunmer must be mentally deficient (what am I saying, of course they are), because they keep worshiping her. A few people may not have the capability to tell all the Dunmer, but Azura surely could have told more, if not everybody. Hell, it wasn't even a few people, the way the priestess at her shrine said it. More like hundreds.

They should have a boasting Argonian in Skyrim who's all like,

"These Nords don't know anything about fighting. My ancestors closed an Oblivion Gate. 'Stormcloaks are so strong'. PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. No."

That would be so classic.

1. Black Marshes terrain.

2. Still, the CoC could take down every Oblivion gate in Cyrodill down solo. And he isn't immortal or anything. After doing that countless times in Oblivion I don;t see that as anything special.

Last I checked, a whole regiment of guards couldn't take on a single Oblivion gate.

The CoC is a god among mortals, as far as his/her powers are concerned.

So if it's not anything special, that means that all the other races must svck, because that implies that therefore the Argonians are "normal" due to being able to close an Oblivion gate like the Champion of Cyrodiil.

Black Marsh excuse doesn't count. Because having special terrain totally makes up for the fact you aren't even half as strong as a Daedric being, amirite?
