New Assassin's Creed for 2011
And Ubisoft hints at the next location.

On the back of Asssasin's Creed: Brotherhood shifting over a million units after its first week on sale in Europe, Ubisoft has begun talking about the next outing in the increasingly successful series – and begun hinting where the time-hopping adventure might be heading next.

Geoffery Sardin, Ubisoft's EMEA chief of marketing and sales told MCV that next year there will be another installment in the Assassins' Creed series.

Sardin went on to hint where the series could go having already explored Renaissance Italy and The Holy Land. "If you've read the comic books you will see that we took Assassin's Creed to the USSR, or Caesar's Rome – that's a good example of what we could do in the coming years in the next video games," Sardin told MCV, "We never saw this as just a franchise – it is a 360 degree franchise, and touches a lot of other experiences. It's not just a game, but an animated story, on comics, in books, and other formats too. There's lots of scope for what we can do."

i have the feeling they plan on going way beyond the original idea of just '3' games

i am all for that, as long as they can keep up the quality

looks like it might become an annual event

Assassin's Creed seems to be the only franchise that can weather the Call of Duty storm on an annual basis.

When Modern Warfare 2 launched in November of 2009, Assassin's Creed II arrived at almost exactly the same time and ultimately managed to sell around 9 million copies. This was when most other titles ran away from MW2. This year, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood didn't shy away from Black Ops - again, both titles released at about the same time - and all indications are that Ubisoft's latest will be another smash hit. So why not go for another entry in 2011? Well, the publisher wouldn't confirm anything specific but according to company CEO Yves Guillemot (speaking at a financial briefing call), we'll get AC "something" in 2011.

"There will be something around Assassin's. That's the only thing we can say."

Ubisoft did reinforce their "ultimate goal" to make the series yearly; i.e., new iterations for the holiday season every year, just like Call of Duty. Guillemot wouldn't commit to ACIII in 2011 but at least we know it's a possibility. They may not make it in time, though, because although Brotherhood is the completion of Ezio's story and was already written even before ACII released (or so said the development team), we doubt much of anything is written about ACIII, which will feature a new character, storyline and - we're assuming - age.

Either way, we can't wait to hear about it.

Isn't Assassins Creed: The Fall being released in 2011? The comic, about the Russian assassin.

You can play after the ending. Sit through the credits and see for yourself.

It came out this month. I saw a few copies at Gamestop.

Well, the first comic out of three. The third one comes out in 2011.

the game was kind of a yawn for me. it broke the cardinal rule of stealth games that should NEVER be broken. if you want people to play stealthy then make it required. there was little if any reason to play stealthy at all since you could just slaughter enemies by the hundreds with no effort on hard mode. one kidtastic finishing move after another after another after another etc. ad nauseum.

had they made it so the enemy guards werent just standing around taking turns and could kill you in a few hits that would have made the game more challenging and more enjoyable. the fact that i could stand on a lamp post right above the guards to hide from them is also goofy game design.

the thief games were much harder and better games overall.

Well, I recently bought and finished AC:Brotherhood. I enjoyed the story thoroughly, as I have for both AC games beforehand. While it wasn't anything new or groundbreaking, not everything has to be to be good - Brotherhood was good because it didn't try to mix up the formula that made ACII so good.

On the other hand, my experience - or lack thereof - with the multiplayer has been less than impressive. I have a good internet connection, and spent half an hour trying to use the multiplayer feature. In that time, I found three games and was disconnected from all of them before they could begin. :(

That would be awesome, I agree. Another setting I'd considered was the French Resistance, although that's based on what little I know of it. It just seemed like it could work pretty well.

I loved 2 (haven't gotten Brotherhood yet) but to be quiet honest, I want to go back to 1191 in the Holy Land... I liked the atmosphere of that one the best.. Even though gameplay of 2 was much better..

This is exactly what I'm hoping for, more specifically, London.

I've been playing Brotherhood alot over the past couple of weeks. It's essentially ACII in a new location, but that's definately not a bad thing. It could go on to be my favourite game of '10.

Alright well I have some money saved up and FNV and AC: Brotherhood are 40$ each at GS, I'm thinking about getting both but I'm not sure. So what do you guys think? Fallout: New Vegas? AC: Brotherhood? or both? thanks.

Both if possible, but if you can only get one, despite my love for Assassins Creed, I'd say New Vegas. Simply because it would probably last you longer, and is ofcourse more diverse than AC:B..

That's just me though..

I've been playing ACB, and to be honest, if they don't wrap the series up with 3, this might be my last one. 1 was ok, 2 was great fun, but I don't see where they can go from there, gameplay wise.

I can get both, but I'm not the type of person who likes spending money. But they're both only 40$ so if I got both it'd 80$ which is a really good deal. How's the multiplayer in AC:B?

It doesn't exactly float my boat.

But again; that's just me. I preferred playing Black Ops multiplayer, maybe that'll give you an idea of my taste..

IMO, Multiplayer isn't too fun, it'll last you a week or two then you get bored of it. But the single player is definitely worth it.

But if this is between AC:B and NV I would get NV, NV has currently provided my with a little over a hundred hours of gameplay, while AC:B only fullfilled 25 or so.

Multiplayer is weak, manhunt can be fun for a round or so but thats it.

So far ACB has topped 2 and is really great.

I like the multi-player a lot. Wanted is one of my favorite game modes. Hunting someone while being hunted by someone else really makes you paranoid. I've been running around in single player expecting that one of the civilians is going to turn and kill me. :P

@xumannius......that video shows that the combat is just as silly as the other two games. look at them just stand around with your back turned to them patiently waiting their turn.

You ever sparred before? It's tough to have more than one person fighting someone; you risk hitting your allie instead.
