That's a ridiculously stupid argument and one that will grow increasingly stupid as game devs make FPS more "RPG-y", and RPGs more "FPS-y" etc etc. To hate a game because you're pissed at how it's labeled is asinine.

Oh, no. Not Fox news and not solely about six either. :P Just other sites I've been browsing where the general consensus has been (and still is) that ME2 is... well, you get the picture.

LOL I must be dense - because I don't :D

I can't understand the hate towards Fallout:New Vegas, the way I see it, New Vegas is functioning MUCH better than Fallout 3 did at release time

Maybe, maybe not, I certainly had more problems with Fallout 3 at release than I've had with New Vegas (Steam woes aside). However Fallout 3 was more simplistic than New Vegas because it focused more on dungeon crawling than it did interaction and quests, and what quests it did have were fairly simple in execution. New Vegas is very dynamic, so the scripting is a lot more complicated, and in addition it focuses more on interaction and quests. At the end of the day New Vegas should be more buggy; that's what I'd expect from a game as massive and complicated as NV, and for some it apparently is.

Technically they're about the same. New Vegas hasn't crashed for me anymore than Fallout 3 did on release.

My only anger complaint is mainly during 'You'll know it when it happens' and sometimes Freeside. Dear God, so much lag. :bonk:

BTW, the example on medications is far out there. I can't even think of why anyone would compare such an error to game bugs. Way, way, apples and oranges. Sorry.

It is a perfectly valid anology imo because just as this game does not work for many people - a sugar pill does not work. "Bugs" imo are annoyances, glitches that don't prevent you from advancing/completing the game.

The point is that gamers tolerate problems that would not be tolerated in any other industry. And have little to no recourse when there are problems.

If you pay money for something - it should work. It's that simple. :)

LOL I have to say I read through some of the posts.

I say the bastards are playing a game entirely TOO bug free, therefore clearly have had to find something else to [censored] about!

I'm thinking Oblivion is on to something here.... :D

I agree on best rpg of the year. As this game is a decent rpg and none better have come out in 2010. But best game? No not really. In my opinion that title would go to starcraft 2.

And the amount of bugs/glitches is DEFINITELY a factor in if a game should be game of the year. This game was just unfinished and for that reason alone it shouldn't get the title. There are other reasons though. In my book this game isn't just that great. Very much enjoyable but not really something I'd remember like warcraft, dragon age, metal gear solid series and starcraft. ( problaby forgot something ).

In the end it boils down to personal favoritism, but I just can't see much appeal in Starcraft, but, Starcraft has a large fanbase, so I suppose it can't be all bad, it just isn't my cup of tea.

Well besides me just really liking the game, it's just REALLY finished. Like all ( most atleast ) blizzard games. I can't remember a single bug, ( there may have been one ). The whole campaign is just awesome, all the missions are diverse and each is a great new experience. The story isn't mindblowing but it sufficed. And ofcourse the multiplayer is absolutely excellent. Apart from the balancing ofcourse which they couldn't get right before launch no matter how hard they tried, they just need feedback for that. I could keep going on to why I like starcraft but it's slightly off-topic and I don't really see a reason. And as they say: 'To each his own'.

After that first comment I must admit I was quite scared you were going to flame me. :cryvaultboy:

These awards shows are a joke anyway. It's not that I don't think New Vegas deserves the praise, because I think it totally does, but even if you disagree, is it really anything to get worked up about?

Nope. I don't flame people. I might get snarky, but to be devoted to something is your right. I'm a Fallout fan boy, so I cant mock someone else for being one of another franchise

I just bought the pre alpha release of beta load of this unfinished game (don't telle me it's the released game I've got, I wouldn't believe it).
When do you think Bethesda will have time to provide a complete, tested, finished game ? Because until now, it's so full of bug I can't even play it anymore. My PS3 freezes every 10 minutes and I'm fed up with dealing with continuous freezes. The game is ugly, that's a fact, but more than that, IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL... I hope the [censored] who committed to publish this [censored] has been fired. If not yet, you should think about it.
In my job, if I'd dare deliver an unfinished job like this "game", I wouldn't be paid and my customer would ask me penalties.

So now, Bethesda, get your finger out of your ass and instead of working on a dlc I don't know who's gone be stupid enough to buy it, GO BACK TO WORK AND FIX THE BUGS !!!

Even with all its problems, NV should win RPG of the year (Seriously, what other RPGs came out that weren't totally horrid)... but it wont, it will most likely go to the abomination that is/was Mass Effect 2.

It's a great game...but as an actual programme it's an unstable, bug-ridden piece of cr*p.

Good luck, either way.

The only downer in this game that Disk Jokey Mr Vegas. He keeps repeating the same news story every five minutes or so. The music in that station is no better. I have to turn the radio off and just listen the game score which itself is very relaxing.

The playlist itself isn't terrible, it's that the playlist is so short that the repetitive song played 5 times within half an hour has made alot of fans complain.

Actually they did skimp on the songs, three of them are from a band that was founded in 85 and are off their album that was made specifically for television, movies, commercials, games etc. Obviously they weren't given the same resources as 3, or they would of got the real, original recordings. I like the three songs, I just don't think they were given the same amount of resources.

People tend to be confused about the "true" definition of a roleplaying game. To me it is the ability to play the main character as different personality types and/or specialization in combat tactics in a linear yet elaborate "interactive novel". Final Fantasy games tend to lean heavily on combat specialization while games like Mass Effect 2 are, to a great degree, about having the ability to role-play different personality types during social interactions.

Fall Out and Dragon Age are the titles that, off the top of my head, encompass BOTH aspects of role-playing and therefore receive more acclaim from the RPG fanbase. You could say that ME2 and FF games are sub-genres, but FO NV definitely paints with a broader stroke on the 3d canvas.

ON TOPIC:

I had a great time playing the game all the way through once. This is despite being unable to finish the game along the desired faction allegiance due to broken quests. My second play-through was intended to be a more thorough exploration of the game, but I stop trying due to the sheer volume of broken quests that it will not recognize the choice I made or will after the fact "forget" that I did the quest and prevents me from finishing the quest chains.

It is a great game due to the fact that I enjoyed it the first time even when fighting the scripting issues and I think deserves as much respect as ME 2, which sacrificed a lot of elements from the original in order to quickly produce a finished product. I played them both and had a blast doing so. I do not have a console, however, so I can not comment on console-only titles.
