Goodness...we'll continue until all have had their say about it. I mean there is an entire block of folks who have been sleeping ever since the place came back up. And some who don't visit every day. So...if you are tired of it and have had your say, just walk on by and leave this thread and the future threads about it for those just now experiencing the changes.

Oh, an I sort of like new folks just coming in to the launch page not seeing CD right off the bat. It just might keep some spammers of CD at bay. The rest of us can bookmark this section. :nod:

Except now, instead of being at the bottom where nobody goes, its in every subforum, so we might get more.

These threads are pretty pointless now.

Everything is just being repeated over and over again.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I do like some of these new emoticons, though. However, I do NOT like that the code for some of them - especially ones I tend to use - have been changed to either a mix of letters and numbers, or just numbers. I'm very used to just typing in the code myself, as it saves time from loading and poking around the emoticon list. I remember words (descriptive) as the code better than I could remember a meaningless string of numbers.

Bookmark it like I did all those other pages? All those bookmarks that don't work now?

Any news on whether it's possible to fix old bookmarks or not?

I still don't like how there's so much extra blank space on the sides. I feel like I'm going crosseyed reading the center of my monitor.

And I'll say again, I don't like the new star system. It's harder to tell the difference between 8 and 9 stars than between 4 and 5. It's just how the human brain works.

Is it harder to tell the text? I can read "acolyte" vs. "master" pretty easily, without even looking at the stars.

Have you tried zooming in?

The star system will probably get tweaked, I'd guess we're using the default IPB system right now which probably isn't set up for a place where lots of people have over 10k posts. I imagine the admin will get to it eventually, they've already made a lot of other changes and the forums haven't been up all that long.

Of course with the weekend almost upon us I think we're unlikely to see any changes or tweaks until Monday at the earliest.

Still a little silly having the stars there if no one will take the time to count them.

The old star system was very obvious and didn't require my brain asploding,or me using my fingers.

I found another thing I dislike about the new layout,the weird red line used to show spelling errors is very hard to see.

A small question: is there a way to tell apart the topics I've posted in from the ones I didn't? I think the old layout had such an option... hm... Now I can't really remember.

I don't like the general layout that much, I loved the way it was before really. But I guess I will get used to it, I am not gonna leave, perhaps inactive but still (Once I get my computer back from being fixed and I start playing Oblivion more I will probably post more, especially if I got the net in my room too. I haven't able tyo play it in the last months due to some problems and reading the oblivion posts here would just make me want to play it even more).

Yeah, the current star system is just redundant. There's no difference between a lot of stars and even more stars. And the names of the ranks mean nothing to the newer members who haven't memorized them yet. If they change anything at all, I hope they change the star system back to normal.

Yeah,biggest thing now..not a huge issue,but stars did show how long people had been here,and now it's hard(er) to tell what's what.

That and CD on the main page..I want that,because I'm a lazy ass.

Also,I really hate that when I click a link it doesn't open in a new tab..very frustrating.

It's the 'Keep track of this topic' option at the top of each thread. It shows up next to thread names in the forums.

It will take getting used-to, but I'm sure the new features will benefit us all in the end. I'm sure there are some good reasons behind the scenes from wanting to upgrade as well. I was a little surprised as I thought it had crashed or was going through a server upgrade, so I was a caught off-guard. Must be getting old.

I have another complaint: The quick pop-up menu that used to be a fast way to jump from forum to forum now is useless. It's divided in broad sections (Oblivion, Morrowind), which forces me to an extra click when I just want to go from, say, OB - General Discussion to OB - Cheats and Hints. Now I cannot have one 'index' tab opened, I have to open the subforums in new tabs. Annoying. :banghead:

On tech side -- we needed to upgrade to the new forum type, because the old boards are soon to be no longer supported by Invision. We needed to switch to stay security compliant.

Additionally, with us adding more and more games, we wanted to be able to have a directory that make it easier to get to each game. Instead of having just Fallout and Oblivion, we have a lot more games now. The feedback I had been receiving was that it's a pain to scroll down to find game X or game Y.

As mentioned already, we'll definitely keep an eye out for issues -- whether something is buggy or just not working out for you guys. At the same time, do what you can to adjust to the forums...like I said, we needed to make the upgrade.

But then I have to scroll a lot, and I don't have one of those fancy-pants logitech wheels that are smooth scrolling. And yes, smooth scrolling is disable in my FF. Auto is enabled, though...

Anyway, a new problem is that someone will have to let me know if the background and such changes, because of my using NoSquint and AdBlock+ to mod the heck out of these forums, I won't be able to see any changes!
