After what seems like forever, the forum is back online with a brand new layout. What does everyone think of it?

Well, I think I may need to get some strange browser like Chrome, or suffer through this strange, strange, laggy e-Herpes that seems to only be affecting me.

I got the last post in the last thread so I'm guessing noone read it. So, anyway, you can use Adblock Plus to block the annoying gradient backgrounds so that the forum looks like this:

I like it now. Took some tweaking with NoSquint, but it's good now.

How long are we going to continue these threads? Seems a bit over-dramatic now.

What are you using now? FF?

And Antibody... do you just sit around waiting for the thread to lock?

Worse... IE. My parents would flip about 'viruses' (don't ask; their conception of viruses could make a Lifetime Original Movie of great groan-inducingness). I dunno what to do.

I use the YASM (Yet Another Smooth Scrolling) addon in Firefox since vanilla FF scrolling is much too bouncy for my liking.

With YASM off, my CPU usage still can hit 50% scrolling up and down the Oblivion modding forum. In contrast, doing the same activity on [H]ardForum, my CPU usage hits <8%.

Like you, there is no way I'm turning off smooth scrolling (YASM) for a single site, and since Chrome's extensions are still basic, I'll have to keep using FF since I am not a fan of having two browsers open simultaneously all day (I browse the modding forum throughout the day and always have it open in a tab if I am not actively browsing the forum). Once Chrome becomes a bit better in the extensions department, then I plan to switch from FF to Chrome and can remove this annoyance from my list that this site's redesign has brought.

The only reason I found it was because of the thing on the side that shows new posts.

I have smooth scrolling disabled, and I was still seeing framerate hits while scrolling (though I'm sure they would have been worse with smooth scrolling on). Adding the transparent background image to AdBlock+ solved it for me.

*edit* Note that this will make forums other than CD ugly as sin unless you also block their background splash screens.

I still don't like how there's so much extra blank space on the sides. I feel like I'm going crosseyed reading the center of my monitor.

And I'll say again, I don't like the new star system. It's harder to tell the difference between 8 and 9 stars than between 4 and 5. It's just how the human brain works.

Yeah, I really feel that this forum layout is putting my 2560 px horizontal resolution to good use :rolleyes:
There's practically twice as much empty space on the sides than there is used space down the middle.
That transparent header gradient was annoying too, but Adblock Plus had the cure for that one too.

These threads are pretty pointless now.

Everything is just being repeated over and over again.

Goodness...we'll continue until all have had their say about it. I mean there is an entire block of folks who have been sleeping ever since the place came back up. And some who don't visit every day. So...if you are tired of it and have had your say, just walk on by and leave this thread and the future threads about it for those just now experiencing the changes.

Oh, an I sort of like new folks just coming in to the launch page not seeing CD right off the bat. It just might keep some spammers of CD at bay. The rest of us can bookmark this section. :nod:

Needs a LoFi version, Machines at work can't handle this.
