It's Back! #5

I don't like it, it's messy and looks like a forum of some game or something...

No matter, I don't come here to admire the forum theme anyways. Though it would be nice if I could have some other color theme than black, seeing as it doesn't really work well for my eyes.

I really don't see why you people hate it so much. Its a lot better looking, and I really have no idea how the combination of the colors black and white could hurt your eyes. The toolbar? Annoying but nothing to complain about. The only problem I have is with the ranking/star system.

Right after the forums came back up,the background for posts was a bit different,it was the same as the bars above posts.

It made it very painful to look at,it has since changed a little and is much more bearable.

Re: Stars

Lots of people are unhappy with the stars, I think that's understood and at this point it can be dropped without it being ignored. The stars system is probably using the IPB default right now and in time as the system admin tweak things we'll probably see something closer to the old system. At the moment I seriously doubt forum stars are a high priority for the admin. Hopefully they'll look in to it Monday or Tuesday but if we have a weekend of people discussing the star system chances are other suggestions and criticisms will get buried.

I'm pretty sure Gstaff has already said that this won't be happening.

I agree with those three points Veeno summarised:

Oh, and I really hate how the "Read" and "Unread" forum icons looks almost exactly the same. The "Read" icon is just slightly more black. I really hope that's changed.

Yeah well you may have stars but I have a custom rank!

Oh wait.

I will admit that the fact that mods don't have stars does weaken my 'remove the stars!' stance but I still feel that next to ranks they're redundant.

They've already fixed that problem for the online/offline icon, I'll let them know about this one too.

So,why does a non-mod/admin have a custom rank?

This confuses my small forum newb brain.

I see your point on redundancy, but a lot of us here worked, and waited, patiently for those stars.
It was a "status symbol" of sorts. (at least for those that didn't spam their post counts)

Well... just logged in for the first time. At first I thought they got rid of the Community Discussion, glad it was just hiding.

It's not bad. One thing I like is that I can just set my tab so that it opens up the Elder Scrolls section (with CD included), and I can ignore all the other ones that I don't care about.

Seen a lot of people complaining about the grey/black texture in CD, but I don't see what is wrong with it. It's not causing any problems for my eyes.

I'd like to see them make it widescreen, so that there is more posting space (less scrolling overall), and gets rid of the annoying sidebar that serves no purpose.

Overall, I prefer the colour scheme of the old forums, but this one is very sleek.

:whisper: Archie used to be a moderator here, but she escaped. The custom title is the only thing they can use to try and identify her out in the wild.

  • make links in posts open in tabs,

The list has been amended.

I just use the middle scroll button; so that would be useless for me. Unless that is for people who don't have a scroll button, in which case, I agree.

I agree.

Wow. I think this is the worst change you guys have ever made. Nevermind the blantant confusion causing layout, nevermind the godawful social networking bull, but really, were the notes I had taken and been saving for 6+ years THAT MUCH OF AN ISSUE? Most of what was in there is irreplacable. The simple fact that you took away the mighty green background (which I can guess most of us had come to love since it was "The Elder Scrolls Forum") is really an outrage.

A question I have though: since you went through all the trouble to compact everything together, why didn't you add the Star Trek section in?

Arche used to be a mod - in fact there are several old moderators kicking about who have custom titles. :)

You can work and wait for forum ranks too so I don't see what the difference is there. Is there something more special about getting star five than the associative rank?

Personally I'd like to see the rank system revamped, have a bunch of ranks for the first thousand ranks made sense when it went up but since then they've really blurred today.

At the Stalking Bar, go into Settings, then Manage Notes.

The line spacing was turned into HTML though.

I kind of miss the bright red lock icon that clearly indicated a thread was locked. Now it's colored an inconspicuous yellow... Meh.

All my notes came over okay. Some were at least three years old.
All though the formatting is bombed all to hell. I'll have to copy it somewhere else to clean up and then copy back, I guess.

Thanks. One more thing, it seems like there are no longer male or female icons on profiles anymore, or in the drop-down boxes next to people's names. Can that be fixed? I never really cared much, but it was always nice to be able to check before calling someone the wrong gender.

It just means a lot more when you don't have 1346789 many stars under your name.

4 means more out of 6, than 8 does out of 10.

Plus, seeing the star makes users identifiable. Hard to do when you have 9 or 10.

It's a small but big issue. :P
