Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Discussion

Any idea how this will work with Steam? I'm assuming they will just patch it into all of the games since there is no way to buy a used game on Steam, so they can assume every game bought is "new".

Also they need to allow preloading...

I can't even get confirmation on how they're doing it with the boxed game, so I don't know. Some people are saying that you get codes that you use to download the maps, and others are saying the maps come already loaded on the CD. I have a feeling that they'll be using codes though, so you may be e-mailed the codes from Steam or you may just get a pop-up box like they use for CD keys.

Seems like it is a mix of both:

EA's "Project Ten Dollar" initiative marches on in Battlefield: Bad Company 2, with four multiplayer maps included on the disc, unlocked via VIP codes found only in new copies of the game.

Also does anyone have any idea how you get the preorder unlocks through Steam? I'm assuming it will be included as a CD key?

Has anyone else managed to snipe a parachuting attacker?
Just got a headshot on one with my beloved M24.

I thought the demo was closed?! I tried getting online the other night and it did not work... Did anyone get to Rank 3? I saw people on the leaderboards getting very close.

You probably tried connecting while they were doing their routine server maintenance. ;)

Even just based on the demo, I already think it's better than MW2. But then again, I hated MW2, and Battlefield is one of my favorite game series, so I'd wait for a second opinion if I were you.

But anyway, I'm hopefully getting the game today (if not today then Friday for sure), so I'll be able to offer up my opinion of the game soon.

@ the people asking about mw2 vs bfbc2,they're so different it's hard to compare.

To start,MW2 is an arcade style shooter, and BFBC2 is almost like a simulator,it has quite realistic gameplay and you can't go be the terminator with akimbo 1887's or a commando/tac knife setup.

The maps are -HUGE- in BFBC2,this makes it a lot harder to learn them..but it also makes camping worthless, which is good(for some people).

Sniping is totally different, with bullet drop/ect you don't have the issue of snipers dominating games..yes you can do well with a sniper in BFBC2,but it will be spotting some people so your team can take them out,and killing other snipers/ect..you can't run around quick scoping everyone.

Assault Rifles aren't god mode in BFBC2,they require burst firing at a distance..this makes getting killed across the map by one very unlikely.

Really that's the main things I've noticed..no quick scoping,no godmode runners and less amazing AR's.

BFBC2 has it's flaws,though..the games take forever(some times over an hour for a single match),and as said before..it doesn't have the arcade feel, the gameplay is slow..even though it is a really great game(imo) it can get a bit boring at times going through an hour of slow-paced gameplay.

There have been afew times I've felt like getting a UMP and rushing the enemies spawn-this game isn't for you if you enjoy getting a bunch of kills and showing off.

It's about communication and team work, not getting 72-3 games.

Sorry for the random mini-rants and long post. :P

EDIT:I forgot one major thing.

No spawn trapping, you can choose to spawn on your squad(group of 2-4 people) which means you don't have to worry about having someone camping inside your spawn blowing your face off before you can take 10 steps.

I dunno about bugs,it had a very long beta..I doubt any major bugs have been found with the retail release yet.

have you tried the retail release yet?

I heard with the beta performance was all over the map (ex: some high ends getting crap framerates, some lower ends handling it fine)

On the Steam forums people have been saying that the performance has been much better than the beta.

I'm going at a blazing 250 KB/s, I miss the 1.1 MB/s that I originally had when I first initiated the download.

Just got done with a multiplayer marathon.
God I love this game. 100% than MW2 for me.

And the mortar strike is pretty awesome.

This game is really hard to play without others to play with, looks like it'll be MW2 alone and BFBC2 when with friends for me.

Also,is it just me or does NO one have a mic in this game?

IIRC you can only talk within squads. Or everybody is in a party.

Dunno, just seems like no one has a mic on this game..I've found ONE person who talks so far. :/

Also,I just got an epic kill streak..using the first Engineer gun I sprayed 3 people down then turned around and stabbed another then ran up stairs in the house I was in and found another person who's face was removed with an RPG shot because he was being a retard and hard scoping out a window while his whole team got killed under his feet..he deserved to blow up. :3

I made it to the second level and got bored with it-will most likely play in a week or two when the multiplayer gets old.
