Bethesda, I really hope Dawnguard isn't your "big" D

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 6:24 pm

You people are completely missing my point. I'm not saying Dawnguard is bad and I'm not saying 20 bucks is bad.

I'm saying, I want bigger, and I want more expensive. I want to pay 30-40 dollars for a proper 40 hour EXPANSION pack, and I hope that Dawnguard isn't as big as we'll get.

Yeah because the quality of the content doesnt matter so long as there is a lot of it right? No really I am serious, Skyrim's worth was totally based on the number of hours it would take to complete all of it rather than the quality of the content, anyone who says otherwise is a liar.

This is TODD HOWARD we're talking about. There's a reason this is a minor meme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ne1fVhvL00

This man spews more lies out of his mouth than anyone else in the business.

Oh I think I can find a better candidate for the biggest liar in the buisness.

It's 10-20 hours for the main quests, not counting side quests and exploring.

Agreed. At least Todd Howard's 'lies' (And they are more exagerations) remain within the realm of possibilities.

I still don't understand how you can ask for bigger when you haven't even played it yet. All you're basing this off of is that Todd said a 10-20 hour expansion. He didn't say 20 hours for each quest, or for one quest or for the entire thing all together he just said 10-20 hours, so how are you even making any accurate assumptions off of such a vague comment?

Personally I take a long time to do things in Elder Scrolls because I get sidetracked by ever unfamiliar cave and dungeon, or person I haven't talked to. Skyrim's main quest I didn't even finish until my character was about 70 or 80 hours old. :ermm:

I bet it's really only 5 hrs, played with 2 - 4 different characters. That is really what was meant by 10 - 20.
Lol.

You might be right, you might not. But again, this is TODD HOWARD. Very good odds you're setting yourself up to be disappointed if you take what he says and assume HE is providing you with a bare minimum and being modest about the actual size. Nah, that doesn't sound like Todd.

You must be new to the realm of games. I refer you to Peter Molyneux.

To the OP, you haven't played the DLC and details are still scarce about it, so why not wait until it is released to make such assumptions? :banghead:

The dlc is going to be alot longer than 20 hrs atleast for me anyway. I'm going to enjoy playing my Volikihar vampire and hunting dawnguard officials all over Skyrim after I finish the MQ and tear down that pathetic fortress of theirs.

Also I'm sure since we are all aware Todd is a definite liar lol we can probably agree that he has plenty of repeatable quests available after you finish the MQ of course.

Christ I Feel sorry fo the OP, You people are so ignorant. Hes not moaning about the length of the dlc. Hes asking for a core sized expansion. Dawnguard will be worth the money im sure but thats not his point. He wants a larged sized SI expansion. What? You dont want more content? You can make a 10 hour dlc last 40 hours? Who gives a fig, Thats not the point hes making. Calm the "bleep" down.

You hyperbolic spin doctors don't even know what lying is, you act like spoiled little 5 year olds in training diapers who accuse their parents of lying to them about going to Disney Land because their parents got fired and can no longer afford to do what they planned.

Molyneux and Todd do not lie, that would mean they pretend and invent game features just to make you excited, and if you really think that's going on you need to stop contributing to the Dunning Krueger Effect and learn some healthy critical thinking.

Over ambitious developers telling you more about what they want in the games than they are supposed to is the issue here, and people complain about developers for not telling them anything but the same old routine for months on end. THIS IS WHY. Game design is a fluid ever changing process.

If you actually realize Molyneux and Howard are simply talking too much about their ambitions, and you're still calling them liars, this makes you the liar. It's your fault we don't get nice things and the same crap is reported as gaming news for months on end without anything new, all because you can't realize these games are in flux and a grand majority of making games is about compromising with your producers.

Oh boo hoo, mommy lied to me.

We realized that, but how do you know how much content is in this DLC is what half of us are trying to say. I've got nothing against the OP at all, I just think that this kind of thread shouldn't exist until after the DLC if people are not satisfied. I dunno.. Just seems a bit early, don'tcha think?

As much as Peter Molyneux loves to over-exaggerate features of games he's working on (It's understandable, I've done it before on hobby projects, not intentionally but yeah), people seem to forget that he's made some ground-breaking and brilliant games over the years when it comes to hating the man.

Sad thing is, By you guys being stubborn and alienating the casuel fanbase, Bethesda will have to dumb down elder scrolls 6 to bring them back. You should be helping them get into the rpg aspects of the game otherwise we all lose out by people acting like asses.

Not going to say how many hours I've put in or how far I've gotten, I'm not getting anywhere close to that NDA.

Wouldn't matter if I did anyway, people play at their own pace. So for you the DLC might last xxxx hours but for someone else it might last xxxx(2) hours, ya know?

True that, even so, in hindsight his trumpeting about fable being a 'TES slayer' was hilarious.

The game has potential, no doubt, but it needs a serious revamp.

Still, original populous... *dribble*
