Bethesda, I really hope Dawnguard isn't your "big" D

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 6:50 am

Shivering Isles was an expansion. Bloodmoon was an expansion. Dawnguard is..well, Dawnguard is 20 bucks. It's 10-20 hours of content, I'm wagering 10 per side, so really just 10.

10 hours of content. Lol. Who hopes Dawnguard isn't the "big" DLC that Bethesda has hinted at for a long time now? Who wants Shivering Isles/Bloodmoon quality/size DLC?

All I'm saying is, Dawnguard is not even near the size of SI and BM in terms of content, at least not from the hours we're being told. I want a proper EXPANSION. Please?

In almost every preview the compared the size to Shivering Isles, so I expect about 20-30 hours if you take your time with it. They said that the MQ of each side is 10-20 hours, add the side quests and the exploring to that and you get 25-30 H

Why don't you first play it before you make your decision?
I've seen a beta tester claim that he had already played 40 hours with the dawnguard dlc.

Todd Howard himself said that Dawnguard is 10-20 hours. How someone can double that is beyond me, if the man himself said it.

It's also been said, in another interview, that 10-20 was the MQ. The Skyrim MQ can be done in that same amount of time. Does that mean Skyrim is 10-20 hr game?

Considering you can pay $50 or more for a game that has only ten hours worth of content.

10-20 hours for a DLC ain't bad.

You people are completely missing my point. I'm not saying Dawnguard is bad and I'm not saying 20 bucks is bad.

I'm saying, I want bigger, and I want more expensive. I want to pay 30-40 dollars for a proper 40 hour EXPANSION pack, and I hope that Dawnguard isn't as big as we'll get.

That's just it. You are comparing and passing judgement on something that you do not know the full extent of.

False. I know facts. And the facts are, it's a 20 dollar 10-20 hour DLC. That's not an opinion.

This is TODD HOWARD we're talking about. There's a reason this is a minor meme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ne1fVhvL00

This man spews more lies out of his mouth than anyone else in the business. If he said 10-20 hours, you wanna assume the 10 hours, not the 20.
You might be right, you might not. But again, this is TODD HOWARD. Very good odds you're setting yourself up to be disappointed if you take what he says and assume HE is providing you with a bare minimum and being modest about the actual size. Nah, that doesn't sound like Todd.

Since when, in any case, do they count replays as counting towards the total hours of a game? Dawnguard is 20 hours, probably more if you do everything in it and explore. And why would Beth release their "big" DLC as their FIRST DLC for the game. Shivering Isles and Bloodmoon were both the last things made for those two games if I'm not mistaken. And give them a chance, it the first DLC, they havep plenty of time to work up to a big, epic expansion. Not every DLC can be a SI.

I bet it's really only 5 hrs, played with 2 - 4 different characters. That is really what was meant by 10 - 20.

I'll add that you're not made for any TES game; these games are made for people who like to take their time and somehow "live a life" in the world of the TES.

my guess is that we will get 3-4 DLC the size of dawnguard. So say we get 4. That will be like 2 full expansions.

Seeing as you're the one upset about the size and scope of this DLC before you've actually experienced it, I don't think you're in a position to criticize others for being upset or mad.

Just sayin'.

It's because Todd Howard said it, mainly. He's more known to exaggerate features to ridiculous proportions than he is for being modest and hinting towards limited content when there's actually more.

Judging by previous titles, Bethesda always continues producing content for a game ~1 year after it's release. Based on that, it's more appropriate to assume 2-3. It could get more, but again based on their previous system of handling things and how long Dawnguard has taken, 2-3 is a more accurate assumption.
