Bethesda, you earned my respect in Patch 1.6.

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 2:52 pm

As topic.
Patch 1.6 releases Mounted Combat, a feature that im sure long time players have been waiting for a very long time.
They could have intergrated it into Dawnguard as a paid DLC, but they gave it away for free instead.

In the current world where we have Day 1 paid DLC (IM LOOKING AT YOU BIOWARE)
This is a very refreshing and very welcome move.

Now my problem is...if mounted combat can be offered for free, what goodies can we expect from Dawnguard which is a Paid DLC??
Im getting too hyped up for this, and deep in my heart i know i really shouldn't cause it'll probably cause disappointment.

But should i be hyped up? lol Please bethesda, please tell me if i should be hyped up for Dawnguard lol!!

Seriously tho, thanks very much for giving it away for free. Very much appreciated!

Yeah the free updates are great. Few developers give such substantial free DLC these days. If patch 1.6 manages to fix my current save game then Bethesda will win more than my respect (they won that when I booted up Oblivion for the first time, and my love) they'll earn my lifelong devotion. I may even build a shrine, that is if my head doesn't explode with sheer delight.

I told one of my colleagues at work who recently got into TES about this. Could've knocked him down with a feather :D

Also, why no magic? Let's hope it gets included in the final patch.

I eagerly await for people to post very skillful "Yabusame" shots videos.
Or gathering up an army of horseman and do a "Riders of Rohan" steamroll on Giants.

Oh~~so beautiful~ :D

With mounted combat we're one step closer to what I really want... to lasso and drag enemies to death like in RDR... hahahaha

You can use a staff, I presume. But I don't remember Gandalf ever launching spells from horseback so not being able to do it doesn't bother me much (plus, my mage never rides a horse anyway... seems a bit out of character for him).

Yessss. I love the thought. Lassoing them, dragging them to the top of the Throat of the World, and shouting them off the edge.

Few developers also release such buggy games that need so much fixed. I'd say its sort of a mixed bag there.

In saying that though how many developers release games with worlds as large and interactable as Skyrim's ? In which you can easily log well over 300 hours in one save ?

Erm actually Gandalf does launch a spell on horseback, i think he cast a light spell to dispell a wyvern in the 3rd film while on horseback.
Personally i dun think magic casting on horseback will be implemented on Patch 1.6, but it'll probably be put in later patches, much like the magic kill cam.

Yep... I just learned Telekinesis (thought they got rid of it for Skyrim... so happy it's there!). I loved the fact that I could interact with any random object in the world before, but now? I was going Jedi on everything at the College. I turned it into a pigsty... lol. Must've wasted about 30 minutes ransacking the place and throwing objects at my fellow students.

Blast! Well, we all have to be wrong sometimes. Ok, well, I'm still not terribly upset about not having magic on horseback... but now you got me thinking. Casting things like light spells and wards could be really handy while riding.

I disagree with every bone in my body. I'm having a blast with my pure mage.

Any game that focuses on multi-player such as GOW3 or COD, kingdoms of Amular, Fable, any sports title can offerr that much....I mean Skyrim get's old just as any other rpg does.

As any fans of the Elder Scrolls series would know, it is the MODs that add to the longevity of the game.
It has been nearly 10 years since Morrowind released and until now, there are still MODS coming out for it, and people are STILL enjoying them (me included).

You may want to take Kingdoms of Amalur out of your list... their company just folded. :D
